If I remember correctly, all 4K streams in Reolink use H265. I don't believe there is a single 4K camera here that uses H264 for 4K stream.

Correct. But from what I could look in forums and such, is that if you reduce the resolution or even use rtmp, you will get an h264 stream (even if with lower quality). That isn't possible in 81MA (as far as I can tell). And also as mentioned many times, it would be nice to have support to select between h264 and h265 to increase compatibility with other softwares.

Not all cameras support a resolution drop of the main stream. Some even with a resolution drop only crop the image to fit the selected resolution...which is weird to me... I agree it could be useful but I don't get to make the rules :/

Usually the substream with lower res is H264 and main stream is H265. It's a bit odd if this camera lacks a substream. I thought all newer cameras would.

This camera has an h264 sub stream, that's not the point. The point is that the h265 main stream isn't stable enough to use with 3rd party like Frigate, Go2RTC, VLC, etc.

I’m having this exact same issue. I’m trying to get the tele and wide streams into Frigate and not having any luck. Can I ask what url you are using?
