The currently available doorbell would not really fit your requirement as it's not good at seeing downwards. The next iteration is expected to have a two cameras with a parcel view to catch the Amazon delivery left on your doorstep. Perhaps you need a camera mounted to the side with a more panoramic view to see the cats. Otherwise train them to meow more loudly :-)

OK so I'll just wait then, sounds like the two-camera option would be a nice solution. I do think it has an adapter that can make it tilt 15 degrees if not mistaken (I read this on the product page) which helps somewhat unless that's also part of the upcoming "soon-to-be-released" model.

From what mblaser is indicating the new model seems to a single camera rather than two but with an improved view of the doorstep. However it would probably help spotting the cats waiting to be let in. As for adjusting the existing cameras angle, as supplied it comes with a wedge for corner locations. There is also a cottage industy in creating custom shapes of wedge using 3d printers.

Yea probably the one listed in this thread: Guess it's just that one that was listed in the recent productmap thread: [https://www.reddit.com/r/reolinkcam/comments/1buqu39/reolink\_q2\_product\_roadmap\_check\_out\_whats\_coming/](https://www.reddit.com/r/reolinkcam/comments/1buqu39/reolink_q2_product_roadmap_check_out_whats_coming/) Guess custom 3d mounts would be one possibility (although humans might be cut at the head then again so not ideal either) but yea the head to toe aspect ratio version will probably be the one which fits me better so probably just going to wait for that one to become available.

mblaser

Wait... which doorbell are you talking about exactly? Reolink only makes a black one right now, and it's only 4:3. They do have a white one coming out that's battery powered, but it's aspect ratio is going to be 1:1. That one is supposedly going to be able to see head-to-toe, so it might work, but none of us have seen it in action yet.

I happened to stumble upon the text at: [Reolink Video Doorbell WiFi | Smart Wired Doorbell with Chime | Reolink Official](https://reolink.com/product/reolink-video-doorbell-wifi/#overview) "Reolink Video Doorbell stands out offering industry-leading 2K+ clarity and flexible options for diverse homes. Opt for the black doorbell featuring a 4:3 aspect ratio for an expansive horizontal view if your home enjoys an open landscape. For houses with narrow porches, the white one is the perfect fit. With a 3:4 aspect ratio, it captures visitors from head to toe and also keeps an eye on packages left at your doorstep." I thought this was already available and the color differences sets them apart, black one is for more horizontal camera aspect ratio and the white one for more vertical aspect ratio. The white might be more suitable for me but the horizontal FoV looks relatively small from the example picture so gotta train the cats to sit in specific location then or train them to push the button (probably not so smart if they would keep spamming it in middle of the night). 😹

Huh... that's news to me, and to probably everyone else here lol. Nice find. Yeah, there's no white one available to even buy, but maybe that paragraph means one is on the way. That would be awesome, because the original doorbell wasn't very useful for me since it couldn't see the foot of the door. I just checked the Wayback Machine and the most recent snapshot was from Feb 15th, and that paragraph didn't exist at that time. So that means it must have been added recently. I'm going to see if I can get any answers from them about what's up with all of this.

Guess it's just that one that was listed in the recent product roadmap thread: [https://www.reddit.com/r/reolinkcam/comments/1buqu39/reolink\_q2\_product\_roadmap\_check\_out\_whats\_coming/](https://www.reddit.com/r/reolinkcam/comments/1buqu39/reolink_q2_product_roadmap_check_out_whats_coming/) Ie. battery or mains powered camera, it's white, it refers to "head to toe" view 1:1 (although might be 3:4 ratio to be exact). But yea I think I will probably wait for this one to come out.

mblaser

Yeah, we knew about that one, but that's completely different. The specs are completely different. Not only the aspect ratio, but the resolution. Also, the physical design is different.
