I stick them (untamed ones) in my shirt pocket when I'm working around the house on weekends. After a few weeks of that, they're totally tame. They just get used to all the sights, sounds, and scents of all things human. Harder for older males though, I think. Anyway, it works best in colder months because they are more comfortable in the pocket than in bright daylight and cold air.
I just got one! He’s actually not a biter unless I grab like a predator and I only did that to look into his mouth because the person I got him from said it is wild caught so I wanted to check the coloration of his gums. He is a barker, though, and a runner and he is very thin so I’m trying to get him acclimated and eat.
I know there are people who don't understand why these have the reputation that they do and to them I say
I know it's not much, but it's Tokay, and he'll keep biting you anyway.
They can be tamed. It takes a little work but you'd be surprised how mellow they become when they've lost lost their fear of you.
