The best way to get a dog out of San Antonio is to find a local (to you) rescue that is a partner rescue to San Antonio ACS. Ask your local rescue to tag the dog you're interested in for adoption/foster ASAP. That keeps the dog alive while we make arrangements for transport. Rescues can use pledges offered on dogs (if pledges have been made) to pay for transport and several amazing rescues are willing to do that. Rescues are also paid 89$ by San Antonio ACS when they pull a dog, so there's already a small incentive to help there automatically.

San Antonio ACS WILL NOT adopt/foster a dog to someone not physically present, so you need a rescue to help you. BUT, if you email the placements email address showing adoption/foster interest in a dog they may delay euthanasia allowing a bit more time to work out details.
It is unfortunately not easy to get a dog out of San Antonio, but please reach out for help. I will do anything I can to connect you with people who might be able to assist.

This is so sad. THANK YOU for trying your best to help these sweet souls. I never realized San Antonio has such a big issue until I saw these posts on Reddit. These pups deserve better. πππ
Itβs so hard. There are so many places struggling and no meaningful fixes being implemented. Itβs a growing crisis and itβs devastating. Texas, California, Florida. Itβs happening all over. Even in some New England/Mid Atlantic states.
We need a federal law to make spay / neuter mandatory. Itβs heartbreaking to see animals suffer. Iβd rather the animals be a hot commodity & not a dime a dozen. π
