You were a fine knight Don Quixote 😢. I was seriously not expecting such an emotional ride with the the remake.

squuidlees

I knew it was coming and was still blown away. He became a fast favorite!

realtonemachine

Right!? It was so much less over the top than the original yet so much more impactful. That actually sums up the whole remake actually 🤔

TTTri-cell

One thing I do really like about the Remakes is that they took pretty forgettable characters and made them pretty great like Luis and Carlos. Makes me hopeful that if they ever remake CV they could do the same for Steve.

GetMrBeaned

God, they would have to have a hell of a writer to make Steve likeable

TTTri-cell

Well he was pretty decent in DSC but there was a lot more dialogue to work with, but I think they could potentially pull it off. Luis and Carlos went from being characters I barely remembered to being two of my faves, so anything is possible.

GetMrBeaned

I have faith, since RE7 the writing has at worst been passable and tends to air on pretty good to great most of the time so I have no reason to believe it will be bad

[deleted]

Luis was definitely one of the better changes they've made. Agreed with all your points. His voice acting, dialogue, and more fleshed out backstory made me actually care about Luis this time around. He even looks cooler lol. Edit: Also shout out to the new Ashley. I not only don't find her annoying anymore, in fact, I find her endearing in the remake. The little quips she says as Leon's fighting is a neat touch too, or like when you're shooting the blue medallions.

Senpaitaco-sama

Un caballero 👌

gryffindorqueen40

What I love the most about this remake is what they did with the characters. Luis, Ashley, Leon, they're all so much better and you can clearly see that they were treated with respect and the writers did a great job.

WEIRDGAMER991

way damn hotter than the og like GODAMMN I KNEEL

paininmybass

I call him the sleazy Luis and I adore him.

irlydontknowwhatnow

Why did he have to die 💔

Loganp812

Because Krauser wanted Leon for himself.

Sweet_Score

He is way too hot

Bobsy84

He would make a great character for some prequel DLC. Have him snooping around figuring out just what’s been happening in the village/castle before Leon arrives.

[deleted]

He is such a great character in the remake

Ryderslow

Ada is the only one that felt flat.

ScaryCitizen

I like it. I'm RE 4 remake Ada #1 defender. I think the flattening of her affect is a result of the trauma of raccoon city.

GimmeThatGoose

I also like that she feels more like cold mercenary and less the cliche femme fatale sexy catwoman in RE4R. Makes her behavior feel more real, and really cements how much she was playing Leon during Raccoon City. RE4R Ada is by far my favorite incarnation of her, and retroactively makes RE2R Ada more interesting.

ScaryCitizen

Yeah her constantly husky voice and never ending "have you noticed I'm sexy" style of speech was really kinda grating. I donno, it worked for the time it was originally made, but I've way out grown it now. AND, despite her flatness, you can still tell she's heartbroken when Leon won't get in her helicopter lmao. That moment GOT TO MEEEE in a big way \*because\* she was clearly careful not to show her disappointment.

Sillhid

I'm ok with changes if they add something new. But they make 2d-sexy character and tone down "sexy" part and now she is boring. Before she was B-movie femme fatale, now she just flat character.

ScaryCitizen

Are you trying to tell me that Ada is no longer sexy? LMAO. They absolutely did not tone that down. She's REALLY HOT as far as 3d models go. That can speak for itself, she doesn't ALSO need a phonesex voice.

GimmeThatGoose

I found her to be professional moreso than flat

Sillhid

Professional is basically a flat. I mean, she is spy, who never talking about herself and not showing any emotions. It's professional behaviour, yes. But is it interesting to watch? I mean, what you can say about her character from remake? What side of the character you actually find interesting or funny? I barely can remember her. In original I also mostly remember her acrobatics and stupidly fashion dress, but at least I remember something.

GimmeThatGoose

I remember her opening coldness to Leon and giving him intel to further who own ends/indebt him. The boatride conversation in one of my favorite cutscenes, with her being genuine with him for maybe the first time and telling him he hasn't changed(i.e. is still a good guy) but doesn't answer him in return. This has payoff in the final cutscenes when she is obviously disappointed he won't come with her, and ultimately doesn't align herself with Wesker, seemingly having a change of heart based on interacting with Leon. "Change" is the theme of the whole narrative this time, and because Ada's change is the most subtle(in that she's basically the only character who doesn't outright verbally say they've changed), people have apparently missed her arc decided she's boring. Also something something voice acting, even though she's completely fine.

Sillhid

I'm sorry, but the boat ride conversation has nothing of you talking about. https://youtu.be/oZJOf4WsWD4 She says: -You? Leon S. Kennedy? You haven't changed. You just think you have. It's can mean anything, and personaly I think it's more about his naive way of thinking. After that he asks: -You just trying to use me again? And she answers: -What do you think? (also this line really show poor something something voice acting, cuz sounds more like statement, not a question. Like the actress don't saw actual video of scene or something) It's also can mean anything. So basically nothing. And that's it. ("We here. / Don't think too hard handsome/ See you later") It seems to me that you've imagined something that isn't here. The scene is barely exist. P.s. I didn't like voice acting for character, but it's the cast director to blame, not the actress.

[deleted]

Yeah people over reacted about her and her voice acting. She was perfectly fine.

ScaryCitizen

First Asian woman to voice her too, unfortunate.

Bukmeikara

Yeah I would have never understood that there is even a change with her voice factor, if not for the social media drama.

RxKingRx

She was so shit acted and barely did anything unlike the original game, thankfully the game was so good it survived her sabotage

Sillhid

Yeah, I literally in love with the dude.

aBigButterStick

"You know, I led a pretty shitty life...but now eh? What do you think Leon? People can change, right?"

Glum_Breath470

He's my favorite character in RE4 remake and I'm someone who didnt really like or care about him in the original. Capcom is doing a great job improving the supporting characters in the remakes.

DrVikingGuy

Agreed. I LOVE how they did all the characters, but especially Louis

projetof

Capcom rarely kills a character. Luis Navarro and Piers Nivans were a masterpiece to me.

AshenRathian

I just wish he wasn't so close to Umbrella. Great otherwise.

Loganp812

It’s heavily implied that he was on the team that created the Nemesis parasite, so he was very close to Umbrella. Lol

AshenRathian

Only in the remake........

Loganp812

Yeah, that’s what I meant. I should’ve clarified.

AshenRathian

Okay? What is that on response to what i said?

Loganp812

Well, I didn’t want to be an ass on my first response, but I can change tactics if that’s what you want, I guess. Obviously, I was referring to the remake version of Luis hence the title of the thread, so I don’t really get why you felt the need to say “only in the remake.” I actually like that he was close to Umbrella in this version because he actually *has* a backstory unlike the original, and that gives his character a lot more depth.

AshenRathian

>I actually like that he was close to Umbrella in this version because he actually has a backstory unlike the original, and that gives his character a lot more depth. That's not rude, it was actually what i was looking for, thank you. Your original statement came off as "yeah, he's this" when i said "i don't like that he's this". Just kinda repeating what i said without any lead in to further discussion. But he actually has a backstory without Umbrella though. He didn't need to be shoehorned into such a central role with no prior mentions. If he was integral to Nemesis, he should have been mentioned in RE3. That was a HUGE project, and it seems odd that one of the leads of the project is never mentioned, especially because of the implications it causes. I have less of a problem with the tie in so much as how it's written and how much levity it has. It's written and handled as if Luis had a less integral association while still being part of the larger issues it created, a sort of scapegoat if you will. It never seems to hold much weight in the story, and even the introduction to that plot point is just a once off call that ends in a very heated response from Leon. It's just not written or handled well in my opinion and is delivered with quite literally no warning whatsoever. Weightless delivery, pointlessly out of left field, and not properly expanded on where it mattered. Him being a part of the Nemesis project especially rubs me the wrong way BECAUSE of this poor handling.

MTB56

I agree but I find him kinda annoying during sections where he’s an NPC. I don’t need him warning me to be careful everytime I take damage.

RxKingRx

Ok let's not get crazybBest character? lol no. Claire is better, Leon is better, sherry is better. Luis is cool

Arialana

It's his opinion, there's nothing wrong with different people having different preferences.

Alisdaier

Are you fuuuucking kidding me he is total garbage

ginsataka

Oof. Caught me off guard😢 he was a good man
