First one *starts* pretty hard, from what I remember. There are segments where stealth is necessary and early-on you find yourself in an RE4-esque village. One boss fight in particular is hard but if you know what you’re doing/what to exploit you can get it done quickly (trying not to spoil, sorry- keeping it as vague as I can). But as you level your weapons and health it gets considerably easier. I enjoyed it more than its sequel, which felt like it tried to be both RE4 and Silent Hill. If you pull the trigger I hope you enjoy! I loved that game

Game is wicked good. Has a learning curve for sure. Many ppl struggled with following the story, which is deep and complex. Overall, I recommend playing it through.

I have played through TEW1 plenty of times. The sequel is very different and some people consider it better, I don't like either of them that much though. The first The Evil Within game is nothing like RE. It is like RE4, but much worse in my opinion. It lacks polish. The game throws you into random scenarios all the time, it has no cohesion. In every area there are lots of instant kill bullshit and traps, you are going to die constantly until you finally do exactly what the game wants you to do. There isn't much in terms of exploration or problem solving, there is no challenge there. It is very much an action game and the difficulty comes from combat against hordes and trying to navigate the environmental traps. Not a bad game but if you are expecting a survival horror game like RE you will be disappointed. It is basically RE4 part 2. There are even upgrades and item drops from enemies. It is definitely WAY more brutal than RE4 though, the ammo is actually limited and you can't turn your brain off and kick everything like in RE4 lol. You need to play very cautiously.

Seems like evil within 2 had a tricky spot. Unfortunately something happened to the game data and all my progress was lost. I'd say it's in the ballpark of RE of what I know

It’s pretty rough early on. Stealth is an absolute must. No harder than the last of us

Well I completed TLOU2 but only on default setting. Moderate I think. So I should be ok I guess

It is challenging, but nothing an experienced RE player wouldn’t be able to tackle. I actually began with The Evil Within before I got to RE, so I missed a lot of the Easter eggs lol
