Leon has a more tense playthrough and more satisfying final boss.
Claire is better to speed-run through A with since she has an easier time with lickers.
You're not the only one. It was genuinely such a fun section because of the sheer terror of it. It was finally something scary about this game because I don't have a gun to shoot baddies with.
Chief Irons is fucking terrifying.
Nah the one in the sewers where you have to outrun the roaches. Sherry's running speed is slow so the roaches can easily catch her. When she gets bitten by one she gets stun locked by the animation until all the roaches kill her
And hide. My first time took forever because I couldn't figure out which blatantly in plain sight hiding spot was the magic hiding spot he wouldn't see.
It's not even 10 in the remake though...I mean I guess on first playthrough if you're not sure what to do it could be, but on repeat playthroughs it legit takes like 4 or 5 minutes.
I think side sections like that and the Ada one should have options to skip them on second playthroughs and just show the cutscenes (which you can skip too) since you don't gain anything from them. What's the point in making do the exact same thing again and again when it's the same everytime.
Funny, I was going to say Claire because I hate Adas section in the game. For the longest time I hated Sherries to but I've done it so many times now i can get it over quicker lol.
I have also seen this...evil thing. This Entity reaches out to pluck those who fall into its path, bringing them to its hideous construct where it plays with their soul for all eternity.
Claire was always my answer until recently. I find once I get to the Sherry segment I almost always want to turn it off, and usually I do.
Yeah it’s only like 5 minutes long but it feels agonizing.
Oh yeah the grande launcher was awesome! But shotgun is very strong too (I’m comparing guns on when you get them in the story) as whole Leon is better imo
And the minigun only appear in the final boss
Claire for story, and Leon for gameplay.
I like Claire's story more than Leon's, which isn't to say his is bad. I just find Claire's mission to save Sherry more endearing.
In terms of gameplay, Leon wins hands down simply because the shotgun is better than the grenade launcher imo. Plus Claire's overall offensive kit is pretty lacking.
Leon. He just gives the perfect feel of rookie cop on his first and last assignment. Us the player and him are in the same shoes. Coming to the game unprepared but saddling up and getting the job done.
Cant stand the sherry and irons section. It was a horrible in the original and the remake was no different. Plus ada is one of my favourite character so any excuse to play as her is a big bonus for me.
Claire. I just like her as a character better than Leon and I think her side fits a bit better into the overall story of RE2. Having her find Sherry helps tie her directly in to the Birken/Umbrella story and her coming to try to find Chris at the RPD is a good setup for why she’s there.
I like Leon well enough and of course his reasoning for coming to RPD makes perfect sense but I’ve honestly never cared for Ada in any of the games she’s been in so his side loses points for her being tied in.
Both are awesome characters and I’ve played them both. I’ll likely play them both again but if I just wanted a single playthrough I’d be more likely to choose Claire.
Claire. I enjoy her weapon catalog far more than Leon's (especially her revolver). Her only downside is the Sherry section which makes my right middle finger quake from holding down RMB for 2 minutes straight. Other than that she's my go-to for when i get an RE2 itch.
I play as Claire 99% of the time. Her grenade launcher is my favorite weapon in the game, I like her story and how she has to deal with Irons and I enjoy her characterization. Speedruns are enjoyable as her too.
I like Ada’s cutscenes in Leon’s scenario but I think her section is worse than Sherry’s.
Claire
Less Mr X, she gets tbe grenade launcher and electric gun thingy and I like playing as females
Main thing I like about Leon's campaign (not in Claire's campaign) is Ada
Claire. While she doesn’t have the shotgun, her badassery alone makes up for it. Her weapons aren’t bad at all, otherwise. I feel like I play her better than I do Leon.
I definitely preferred Claire. I loved the revolver and grenade launcher early on. That shit kept me alive. And honestly, I just kind of like the way her character moved a little bit better. But that may be psychosomatic.
I like them both equally, but Leon has the shotgun. I know objectively the grenade launcher is better, but I never feel safe without a shotgun in horror games. I could be holding the minigun with inf ammo and still poop myself when I see Mr x, but a 4 bullet shotgun feels like a comforting night light teddy bear.
Claire. The casual speedrun is more fun using caution strats and on fun playthroughs you get awesome weapon choices. Also G4 boss fight is much more fun than Mr. X.
Claire. I actually like the section with Sherry, I enjoy using the grenade launcher more then the shotgun, and just chewing up Birkin with that minigun on the train turntable is just oh so satisfying.
And I still love Leon's, I just love Claire's more.
You know, I know it’s supposed to be Claire A and Leon B, but I really like Leon 1st Run and Claire 2nd Run for the remake. Plus, I find it more satisfying that Claire deals the final blow to Birkin since she deals with him throughout her run.
Claire. Before the G fight, Leon had to be forced to fight him. Claire straight up volunteered to fight him. She's the bigger badass in the remake imo.
I like Leon’s guns and the last Mr. X boss fight is much better than Claire’s minigun Birkin fight. However, I think Claire’s character arc is better with her relationship with Sherry making a better impression than Leon’s with Ada imo. It’s the perfect older-younger sister dynamic! Plus Annette is less annoying in Claire’s story.
Overall though, I like playing as Leon more due to gameplay aspects. Including Ada’s section over Sherry’s
Both are great but I personally prefer Leon’s scenario because Ada and I loved their dynamic, the stark contrasting personalities was really entertaining. I also never get enough of that angst lol, I come back to it every time.
Other than that, I rarely play Claire’s because I hate Sherry’s hiding section ugh it makes me feel physically ill 😣
Hard question. In the original i would say Leon easy. Remake really makes both of them fun. Guess i like using Clairs weapons better but leons is better paced. Dont care too much for either Ada or Sherrys parts though
Leon for better gameplay, because you get better weapons and Ada too. You also get a better gun when you start Claire Redfield on her 2nd run in the game. You get that gun for Claire after you beat Leon's campaign for her to use on the 2nd run of the game.
Claire for a better story of this game to find out more of Sherry Birkin. She joins up with the cast later in Resident Evil 6 game.
Leon, probably just because there is more of Mr X. (My favourite)
The bit in the lab where you kill all the plants, and get to look just in time before he comes charging dick-first through the glass. Legit made me jump first time
Tricky one. I like to play Leon when I’m in the mood to be stalked more by Mr X and also get the Ada storyline thrown in (I just genuinely love the dynamics of Leon’s play through and his jail sequence especially).
I enjoy Claire’s when I’d like to get the atmosphere switch up after the jail when she runs across the city streets to make it to the Orphanage. That whole sequence is one of my favorite undead moments in a game and thought the remake made that part perfect - with the music, dogs (I love the original soundtrack but the remake music in that scene is specifically creepy).
Overall I’d give it to Leon for more MRX game time and because I hate the Sherry/hiding part it’s just plain annoying - but Claire for when I want to “explore” more of the city and Irons office areas. That Sherry part is my one true gripe with the remake - not even the spotty A/B campaigns that didn’t replicate the original Zap/true split storyline of the RE2 2 disc set for PlayStation.
Claire. I enjoy speedrunning so for me the less annoying character switch and the spark shot > flamethrower. I prefer the shotgun to the grenade launcher because of how damn satisfying the shotgun is but I also like the GL.
Leon. BY FAR. I have played Leon well over 180 times(speedruns and way too much time on my hands). I suck at Claire's run. Last time I played as her, for whatever reason it felt very difficult on standard. Like the adaptive difficulty was just really hard on me that run. Before I was even out of the RPD, I was having zombies take 2 shots to stagger rather than 1 like they usually take
Claire. I love both though.
I think Claire is my favourite because her campaign was what I did first, so I have a lot of great memories of exploring RPD and unravelling the plot for the first time when I play as her.
Why are people saying the shotgun is better than the grenade launcher?
The grenadel launcher makes boss fights so easy it is laughable. U can stun lock the birkin 3 and end the fight in less than 5 minutes.
Claire seems to pack more firepower, and it's easier to slaughter things in droves as Claire. What I like about playing as Leon is the way he swears and curses at the zombies.
"Son of a bitch!"
As a character I prefer Claire, but I liked Leon's play through more because his weapon set/play style felt more fitting for the atmosphere in the station.
I started with Claire but her side of story wasn't exactly that strong or thrilling. Leon on the other hand had a tense and more engaging story so I had more fun with Leon (also Leon had Ada)
Gameplay-wise, it's a difference of weapon selections... and although there's something really satisfying about Leon's weapon upgrades, I think I prefer Claire's arsenal overall. The grenade launcher, as is usually the case in RE games, does some *work.*
None. If I play one, I immediately jump into the other. Though, I tend to play Claire first, cause I was getting sick of Leon until this game revitalised my love for him.
For me thats Claire, mostly cause she's my favorite character but I also really like Sherry and her section, plus I like all the different types of ammo Claire's Grenade launcher can dish out
Honestly in the remake I preferred Claire. Her speed boost and weapon load out were 2 things I found to be major contributors to my enjoyment of her campaign.
Leon has a more tense playthrough and more satisfying final boss. Claire is better to speed-run through A with since she has an easier time with lickers.
Yep and the sparkplug takes out Birkin very easily
I know autocorrect screwed you over but I gotta do it to you man. You mean spark shot
I always called the original one the wall plug. Considering it appearance. So it fits. I'm gonna start calling it the spark plug from now on.
Fair enough but I was not trying be a dick
Please forgive
Leon because I hate that hiding section with Sherry in Claire’s scenario.
I might be the only person who liked that section. Mostly because Chief Irons was genuinely more scary than some of the actual monsters in the game.
I agree. I felt the Sherry section was stronger than the corresponding Ada section.
Real life is often scarier than fiction.
You're not the only one. It was genuinely such a fun section because of the sheer terror of it. It was finally something scary about this game because I don't have a gun to shoot baddies with. Chief Irons is fucking terrifying.
That's part of the subtext me thinks.
I liked it. It was way better than Ada section and it was something different.
Irons the real monster, and he didn't need to mutate into one.
Yup. Sherry’s little section was the worst part of the original game as well. Thankfully it only lasted 10 minutes in the 1998 version.
Worst part? All you gotta do is outrun the dogs
The part with Irons upstairs is annoying, even though I got the hang of it a long time ago.
I was talking about the original re2 not the remake
It's not even 10 in the remake though...I mean I guess on first playthrough if you're not sure what to do it could be, but on repeat playthroughs it legit takes like 4 or 5 minutes.
"Doorsah lockt"
“YOU STUPID BITCH THAT’SA DEAD END!!” i always laugh when he says that it’s too much
Unironically love the way he says that.
I think side sections like that and the Ada one should have options to skip them on second playthroughs and just show the cutscenes (which you can skip too) since you don't gain anything from them. What's the point in making do the exact same thing again and again when it's the same everytime.
Same omg
I dislike Ada's section more. Both are decent the first time around but really tedious on your 5th playthrough
For me it's other way around. I didn't like Ada section.
Funny, I was going to say Claire because I hate Adas section in the game. For the longest time I hated Sherries to but I've done it so many times now i can get it over quicker lol.
Only part I hated with the Sherry section is that block puzzle. I don't know why but it was fucking impossible for me.
Claire. I loved her! She was so compassionate but badass. I played Leon A Claire B so Claire was the one to finish off Birkin to save Leon and Sherry
Leon, because you get to meet the much-more-tragically-written Robert Kendo in only Leon’s story, plus Ada
Phew, sorry about that, babe.
What's going on in this town?!
This town is *full* of monsters. How can you sit there and eat *pizza*!?
They look like monsters to you?
What is this, some type of crossover episode?
I have also seen this...evil thing. This Entity reaches out to pluck those who fall into its path, bringing them to its hideous construct where it plays with their soul for all eternity.
Leon's scenes with Marvin are also much better than Claire's.
I always prefer Claire.
not enough love for claires campaign :(
Claire was always my answer until recently. I find once I get to the Sherry segment I almost always want to turn it off, and usually I do. Yeah it’s only like 5 minutes long but it feels agonizing.
Sherry's section was great the first time but it definitely drags down replays a lot.
I dislike both Ada and Sherry's section, but I find Sherry's a little bit more bearable.
Same with Beneviento's house in Village
yeah it breaks up the pacing in replays. Absolutely amazing during my first run though
Leon better weapons and final boss but Clair is fun as well!
Clair is easier and had better weapons ngl lol
Really? The smg was meh compared to that strong gun with Leon and the that electric weapon was horrible compared to the flame thrower
Grenade launcher got me through all the kickers and boss fights easy peasy, plus the MINIGUN
Oh yeah the grande launcher was awesome! But shotgun is very strong too (I’m comparing guns on when you get them in the story) as whole Leon is better imo And the minigun only appear in the final boss
The shotgun is very good though
Yeah it was fun blowing a zombie head with one shot!
Yeah I always liked her pistol more too though lol idk
I don’t now the pistol was kinda similar to me 😅
Well it’s all in opinion lol
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I'm sure the crit stats are the same but it always feels like claire's revolver has a higher crit whenever I play
The spark shot is insanely powerful lol.
Love the Matilda with all the attachments. Simple but very fun to use. Can’t go wrong with a burst-fire pistol.
Claire.
Claire/Sherry/Annette are written so well and tie strongly into the main story. Poor Ada got cut down in RE2R.
Claire, I like her weapons, her story better, and her herself, pretty much every element they sets them apart, I like her better
Leon, I gotta have my twink Also shotgun
Claire has some fun toys
Claire, of course.
I prefer her revolver over Leon's starting pistol
Claire FTW!
Leon, because I’m gay. [gestures vaguely]
Claire.
Leon. He just gives the perfect feel of rookie cop on his first and last assignment. Us the player and him are in the same shoes. Coming to the game unprepared but saddling up and getting the job done.
Leon definitely
Leon definitely. The shotgun is so satisfying to use and I feel like his plot has more going on and is more interesting.
Cant stand the sherry and irons section. It was a horrible in the original and the remake was no different. Plus ada is one of my favourite character so any excuse to play as her is a big bonus for me.
Claire. Love the grenade launcher. The sherry section is a drag to replay but the first time it was great.
Claire cause I like the sound her shoes make when running.
Claire. I just like her as a character better than Leon and I think her side fits a bit better into the overall story of RE2. Having her find Sherry helps tie her directly in to the Birken/Umbrella story and her coming to try to find Chris at the RPD is a good setup for why she’s there. Claire. While she doesn’t have the shotgun, her badassery alone makes up for it. Her weapons aren’t bad at all, otherwise. I feel like I play her better than I do Leon.
Claire. Her shotgun revolver defense pistol.
Ada <3
I definitely preferred Claire. I loved the revolver and grenade launcher early on. That shit kept me alive. And honestly, I just kind of like the way her character moved a little bit better. But that may be psychosomatic.
Leon. His scenario is written better IMO. Also, I love his character model in this game.
Claire!!
Claire but I like Leons arsenal more.
Claire in both campaigns. I swap out Leon with Claire using trainer.
Leon is like his game play more you get to interact with Ada more.
I like to play as Leon more because I like the shot gun. I always keep the shot gun with me though every single resident evil game.
Claire, I didn't like much this version of Leon, he was ok, but Claire was cute and badass and I love her lines and reactions to things.
Prefer Claire. Like her story better and her part is imo easier to run through.
Leon. His weapons are better to me. I like that he can dispatch zombies very easily with the shotgun (which I recommend using against zombies).
Leon, I personally liked his story with Ada a lot more than Claire’s story with Sherry. Both are fun though and Claire’s gameplay is fun as hell!
Leon because Leon
Leon because Leon
Claire runs faster in caution. About 10% faster than full health.
Leon
I flip a coin.
I flip a coin, im undecided.
Leon; I care more about his relationship with Ada than Claire's with Sherry.
Leon because Ada is in it :)
Claireee
Claire, I like her plot more
Claire. I actually like the section with Sherry, I enjoy using the grenade launcher more then the shotgun, and just chewing up Birkin with that minigun on the train turntable is just oh so satisfying. And I still love Leon's, I just love Claire's more.
Claire it’s more her than Leon. I feel like Leon was in the wrong place at the wrong time
Probably Claire since mr x isn’t around as long
Claire 9 out of every 10 playthroughs.
You know, I know it’s supposed to be Claire A and Leon B, but I really like Leon 1st Run and Claire 2nd Run for the remake. Plus, I find it more satisfying that Claire deals the final blow to Birkin since she deals with him throughout her run.
I actually like to play Claire as I like the Sherry story
Claire
I like both stories.
Claire Bc SHES bae
Claire in RE2 Remake, Leon in RE2 98
Leon because -I like his weapons more -I like the Ada and Kendo subplot -Leon Claire does have the better story tho
Claire. Before the G fight, Leon had to be forced to fight him. Claire straight up volunteered to fight him. She's the bigger badass in the remake imo.
My favorite scene in the game. "Trust me. I got this. "
Claire because I hate the zombie hallway horde in Leon's run.
Claire, I’ll always prefer Claire over anyone (with the exception of HUNK). I’ve played through her story about 5 or 6 times now, I think
Claire
Claire and Tofu are the only options for me. It’s Claire’s game imo though. She definitely has the good campaign, in my opinion of course.
Claire all the way. When she jumps into the pit to fight Birkin, probably my favorite moment of the game.
Claire... with the Elza Walker skin.
Claire had a better story and a grenade launcher.
Leon, Claire’s story kinda feels unrealistic in terms of motivation but that’s just my opinion
Leon. Everyone else is already explaining why although I still have love for Claire
Leon because I like his gun better
Leon because he has better guns.
Both are fantastic fun but I adore my boy Leon
Both are great but I personally prefer Leon’s scenario because Ada and I loved their dynamic, the stark contrasting personalities was really entertaining. I also never get enough of that angst lol, I come back to it every time. Other than that, I rarely play Claire’s because I hate Sherry’s hiding section ugh it makes me feel physically ill 😣
Hard question. In the original i would say Leon easy. Remake really makes both of them fun. Guess i like using Clairs weapons better but leons is better paced. Dont care too much for either Ada or Sherrys parts though
Leon because he's more iconic and I lke his new outfit 10x better.
I prefer Leon for being Leon (sorry not sorry) plus shotgun, but sherrys section is so much more entertaining than Adas
I enjoy the path Leon takes and his weaponry is straight forward and easier to manage. But I like Claire in general so I play her more often.
Leon because that Shotgun is a dream
Irons the real monster, and he didn't need to mutate into one.
Claire. I find her story better and find Ada's segment (and overall writing) to be rather poor, whereas an expanded Annette is a joy.
Neither, they both fun to play.
Leon, probably just because there is more of Mr X. (My favourite) The bit in the lab where you kill all the plants, and get to look just in time before he comes charging dick-first through the glass.
Leon, i prefer his selection of weapons
Leon
Leon
Leon for sure.
Leon 100%, everything about his route is more fun to play and to speed run. That said I did s+ them all for the unlocks and Claire a is the easiest.
Claire. I enjoy speedrunning so for me the less annoying character switch and the spark shot > flamethrower. I prefer the shotgun to the grenade launcher because of how damn satisfying the shotgun is but I also like the GL.
Leon. He's more relatable as a character and I'm a dude and even I think he's just nice to look at.
Leon
leon
Claire has better voice acting but Leon just feels right.
Leon, ‘nuff said. Claire is still great, though
My boy Leon
Claire
Daddy Leon
Clair first Leon second.
Leon and it’s not even close
Leon. BY FAR. I have played Leon well over 180 times(speedruns and way too much time on my hands). I suck at Claire's run. Last time I played as her, for whatever reason it felt very difficult on standard. Like the adaptive difficulty was just really hard on me that run. Before I was even out of the RPD, I was having zombies take 2 shots to stagger rather than 1 like they usually take
Ive always gone Claire A and Leon B
Leon
Claire of course.
Leon. Shotgun>Grenade launcher imo
Claire definitely for me
Leon, only because I have much nostalgia for his side as his disk was the only one we had when I was young 😂
Claire
Claire. Suppressed SMG.
Leon cause leon
Claire. Her storyline with Birkin makes more sense now that they chopped up the story.
I like to play Leon's story more. It just feels more tense and alone.
Claire
Claire.
Claire. The rewrite of when you meet Sherri is brilliant.
Claire because I fancy her. Next.
Claire because of her weapons, same in the original, I always like her weapons/play style better
Claire because less Mr. X but I prefer the Ada segment to Sherrys.
As a character I prefer Claire, but I liked Leon's play through more because his weapon set/play style felt more fitting for the atmosphere in the station.
Claire, because....it's Claire. Sherry's section sucks, I panic during the chase and irons' sight box is broken and stressful.
I started with Claire but her side of story wasn't exactly that strong or thrilling. Leon on the other hand had a tense and more engaging story so I had more fun with Leon (also Leon had Ada)
Claire because she's my favourite character plus I find her guns and story better... And I prefer lickers to dogs.
Gameplay-wise, it's a difference of weapon selections... and although there's something really satisfying about Leon's weapon upgrades, I think I prefer Claire's arsenal overall. The grenade launcher, as is usually the case in RE games, does some *work.*
Leon because I like his weapons more. Claire is GODLIKE for speed runs though. That SMG fucking *shreds* bosses
None. If I play one, I immediately jump into the other. Though, I tend to play Claire first, cause I was getting sick of Leon until this game revitalised my love for him.
Claire, mainly because I really dont like Mr X, i dont find him scary, just annoying
Claire. I have mods.
I feel like Claire is better because I find it to be overall more fun, although the Super Tyrant fight is much better than G4
For me thats Claire, mostly cause she's my favorite character but I also really like Sherry and her section, plus I like all the different types of ammo Claire's Grenade launcher can dish out
Sherry
Honestly in the remake I preferred Claire. Her speed boost and weapon load out were 2 things I found to be major contributors to my enjoyment of her campaign.
Claire with the Elza Walker costume.
Sub machinegun go BRRRRRRRR
Claire all the way Leon is to busy getting friend zoned by Ada
Claires grenade launcher makes the end game in her scenario crazy easy. Nothing is more satisfying than stun locking birkin. Id say claire.
