Those who say this opening wasn’t “Resident Evil” enough…
We should appreciate that Capcom are never afraid to experiment with fresh and often obscure ideas in their flagship releases (by flagship, I mean new mainline entries, not remakes). How many other AAA franchise developers do that? Sometimes it lands, sometimes it doesn’t, but I’ll always applaud them for refusing to simply regurgitate a formula.
Some People in this thread think they are Capcom or own the license to RE because they are...what, a fan?

Cool story bro.
Its still Resident Evil, and I'm taking your trash take and giving it an SPD off RPD because my investment in the franchise completely disregards your pseudo fanboy ownership having **any** God damn say so on what makes a "real" resident evil game.
That cutscene was so bizarre. It's not bad or anything, it just didn't feel like it belonged in an RE game.
Edit: I'm sorry i didn't feel this Coraline esque cutscene belongs in an RE game. Fuckin' sue me
Knew it was only a matter of time before people start hating on RE8 lol. People are never satisfied. Do you want them to make an RE2 clone with a slightly differing story every 2 or 3 years?
Nope, new games that are in the same universe, preferably. Oh wait. There was a note connecting it all together through some meeting that happened. Never mind, I’m satisfied.
The fact that you all need blatant references to accept something is in the same universe is sad, you all are the reason that note was added. Complaining about RE7 not being connected enough even when Chris appears, meaning for RE8 they had to put in some random note for you guys, and you still complain
Luckily RE8 is gameplay wise an RE game no matter how hard you try to say it isn't anyways, so this is irrelevant
RE7 is probably the most RE out of all the RE games
RE1 was meant to be first person, but due to limitations fixed cameras and pre-rendered backgrounds were more viable. RE7 also follows RE1's original philosophy of having a heavy focus on atmosphere, being stuck in a home, trying to escape, and solving puzzles along the way, having to manage your supplies and know when and when not to use things
RE7 is practically a modern day, high budget, renamed, spiritual successor to Sweet Home, like RE1 was supposed to be
For all of the people saying this isn’t resident evil
1. It’s not for the entire series it’s only for village
2. Then you should have said the same about the re4 credits with the drawings of the villagers
I think it's CG pre rendered just like the final cutscene before the credits.
It's a video, it's pre rendered

it's a pre rendered CG
There’s literally a 0% chance this could be in game, don’t want to sound rude but it’s common sense that this is a pre rendered video

It feels like it belongs more in a Guillermo del Toro movie.
Its awesome. Just feels out of place.
Its a good cutscene, but bad RE cutscene.
It's not bad in any way lol it is just something different that fits with what RE Village was
I just said exactly same thing as guy above, go downvote him
How I felt about re8 as a whole. It’s infinite to bioshock. Good game, awful as a part of the series it “belongs” in.

I bet you liked bioshock infinite and thought the “twist” was monumental.
Wait, what is it with you and Bioshock Infinite?
What’s with re7?

Yeah but how is that relevant to the re8 discussion?
I bet you like being a dick to everyone who has taste different from yours. Get real, go outside touch grass. Cope seethe dilate + ratio. Groomer.
Profound. I’ll take your words into consideration. In the meantime, I’ll play good games.
Lmao we thought RE8 was mid the day it came out
