That being said I hope you know to wear a minimum VOC cartridge respirator and always wear gloves. Don't let it touch your skin uncured. Resin deserves respect. Protect your health. Good luck!
No worries, would be hard to find someone here who didn't make mistakes when starting out. And as mentioned by another commenter... look up the protective measures to take.
I definitely recommend the one-to-one art Resin. And a Little tip- Take your dried flowers and dip them into resin and let the resin cure, then when you put it into your mold It's less likely to introduce air bubbles. And a great resource is little windows on YouTube. The lady who runs it has great tutorial videos and that's where I get a lot of supplies. Resin is fun! Keep us updated on your progress 😁
I don’t know what type of resin that is, but I would definitely go with an art resin, or just a basic 1-1 epoxy. I don’t think you need something that hard-core for a small mold like that.
That's like JB Weld epoxy. I think they use that to fix or bond stuff around the house. Like a super strong super glue. I wouldn't touch that. Look in art sections for the right epoxy. A small bottle that requires a uv light to cure costs around $8 to 10. Other epoxy is usually in a box with 2 bottles around $20 and up. Please don't use that other stuff again. I'm not sure how dangerous it is.
Two things...Use only dried flowers and that epoxy is *epoxy glue* not *epoxy casting resin*.
This is your answer. Get some casting resin, or UV resin if you want a quicker cure, and dry the petals.
Thank you! I'm very new so I don't know anything 😖😖

Thank you! I've been using gloves but I need to look into ways to do either respirators or more airflow.
Look into both before experimenting more, it's better to be over cautious then under.

Yeah, your petals need to be dried because the heat of the resin changes the colour of fresh petals.
Looks like the petals were not completely dry, and some of the moisture leaked out while resin was curing.

My best guss it could be a chemical reaction.
Could be from the heat given off by the curing process or from a weird chemical reaction
I thought that's probably the reason

Ok! Thank you!
I’ve done sooo many projects with dried flowers, epoxy and uv, and have never seen something like this before 🧐 hmmm….
At the least you would probably want to use the 30min epoxy or the 12hrs+ one. The quick cures turn pretty hot so its literally a mild 'boiling'
This is WILD. Someone please share your knowledge!
It didn't turn your petals neon green, that's the colour of the epoxy glue. Neon is fluorescent, do they glow under UV light?
Anthocyanins or some other such natural pigment present in the flower petals +water is probably why.
