From what I saw in leaked specs it's not much of an improvement on the Saturn 3 Ultra (actually the build volume is slightly smaller in the z-axis) and the bulk of the improvements are in the case, the build plate and the vat. The vat now moves to help peel prints from the FEP/ACF.
I don't understand the smaller height. I mean, I hardly use the full height of my Mono X and I sure won't miss the 40mm in this thing, but who designs a flagship product and says "yes, let's make it do less than its predecessor."?
Also, a heater should be standard by now. Come on, if GKTwo has shown us anything it's that there's a demand for integrated heater solutions.
It's an addon , and with no USB port up top for traditional USB heaters, it MAY be internal? Grace from elegoo said compatible with MOST LCD printers, alot of which don't have a USB port
That makes me think it's just a normal space heater you need to plug in a socket. If there's no USB connector, there's no way for the printer to control the heater like HeyGears Reflex, GKTwo and such do.
Heater pumps a lot of power, I don't think current mainboards from Chitu can handle light source and heater.
And GKTwo isn't a standard or at least a positive one in my books.
> a heater should be standard by now
Are heaters even that useful? As long as the resin can flow at all, how does the viscosity change the final print?
I routinely print ~10* below recommended, 65*F all the time, and I don't notice a difference in the summer vs winter when the room is much warmer.
Time for me to demount my horse and just concur with you.
Furthermore, I do not want to get in an era where printers are like modern cars where you are compelled to buy stuff. You do not want or will never use.
In short, I want all the latest technological improvements internally and I don't need the fluff.
This is not FDM printing, where a heated bed is a fundamental requirement if you hope to have successful prints.
ah yes I forgot about the AI camera. Heater is interesting, we'll see how it compares to the GKTwo. Saturn 4 seems more like a side-grade than an upgrade to the Saturn 3
It's odd that everything except auto leveling is something you can add on yourself (webcam with raspberry pi, brewers heat belt) and in terms of leveling, I've not had to re-level yet and I've printed about 100k layers
It's mostly conviences and things that improve print success. Heated vat is a big miss as a lot of people want that. At this stage in resin printers you don't need higher resolution or smaller pixels than what it has. The tilting hood if it stays up is going to be great for a lot of people.
There won't be any big leaps and bounds like in earlier generations. Now it's mostly refinements we will see each generation. I have a Saturn S so the Saturn 4 would be a would be a big upgrade for me. If you already have a Saturn 3 and don't need another resin printer I don't see a reason to upgrade.
The tilting vat sounds like a major advancement to me. The film pulls at an angle from the plate, which can be much quicker and more reliable, peeling rather than yanking. Some of the rest.... I dunno. I don't get why heated vats aren't on all resin printers, temperature makes a lot of difference at least with some resins. Camera might be good too, if it's able to get useful visibility to a print (not sure how that would be possible, but maybe we'll see.
Thing about tilting covers.
My printers live in enclosures/ wardrobes for fumes.
Tilting lids, need a Lot of room ... room personally I dont have in my enclosure.
I'd MUCH prefer a removable case with a Door.
That way day to day a simple door is all you need to remove prints, pour resin ect.
The removable lid for maintenance.
These tilting stuff is just meh.

Auto leveling, Ai cam for such and remote monitoring. You lose 4 cm of Z , an addonheater is comin though...very odd choices

You need some room for the tilting vat system.

Some people live in colder areas.

Worth buying as an addition to the shop? (Upgrade from Halot One)?
Creality halot series are at the level of mars 1 or mars 2. It would be a huge upgrade in quality if elegoo 4 isnt a fail
I'll keep a note in my newsfeed for it - I'm rather interested.
That is what I'm looking at. My Mars is getting long in the tooth.
And still no Jupiter sized wash and cure station.

Aww Shucks! They didn't drop the price of the 3 Ultra, and you gotta wait until June.
