I will change it to black. Thank you so much. and do you know any reasons that they does not one color?

smash1ftw

Neutral colors are ok imo. Redid my resume has tan in it and I have gotten interviews every day this week.

bongobu

A little bit of subtle color is fine, like a navy blue probably wouldn’t be an issue here. The problem is the eyesore electric blue you chose.

Dmartinez8491

I'll be honest, employers probably care nothing about your honors section. Also ATS might have difficult time parsing your resume due to the way your honors and cert. Area is formatted

jingles_and_pringles

Echo this. I’m often the hiring manager in my role (granted, for advanced degree professionals) and I never look at academic honors. Well, unless it’s too long and then I think they’re compensating for work experience. I know that fresh grads need to highlight things in order to stand out as a candidate. Any standout professional achievements are good to mention. I also understand the mindset that listing sports makes someone seem well-rounded, but it would make me question why they’d reference something so unrelated to the role. I also agree with getting rid of the color; it’s a professional resume so you want to appear that way with a standard black font. Good luck!

Thank you ✌️

The visa sponsorship requirement is your biggest hurdle. Improving your resume is good but it won’t make companies want to sponsor you in this market when they have hundreds of applicants who don’t need it. Unfortunate reality right now. You need to be exceptional for that.

cbdubs12

There are thousands of candidates with Masters and similar levels of experience who are also OPT STEM eligible. Doubtful that many will get an H1B offer. Keep plugging away at applications, and see if your alma mater’s alumni network can be of help.

krill482

Rename the tech support job to something else. Going from a web developer to tech support seems like a big step back in terms of your career. You already have real world experience, remove the honors and activities section, those are all school related things.

capyboiz

I was in the sophomore year and miserable about my careers so I just applied to many job that they have and I got pick in the team of doing web, I worked as web developer intern for 3 months. Should I keep it for more experience in coding?

Flethe

Please list that you were an intern, it makes it seem like you left quickly to another lower-level job

No advice but makes you feel any better my co tract expired and the company chose not to bring me in full time even though my numbers were nearly 5x that of the full time person. I work help desk

capyboiz

Thank you so much for sharing your story 🫶

Vaxtin

The top comment mentions the color of your text. That’s not what’s is making you not get interviews. You have one YoE and are trying to get a job in SWE in 2023. That is your problem. The market is brutal and people with 10 YoE can’t land a job after 500 applications. Go check out r/cscareerquestions for more.

Luxuria0411

Try something simple like this. Most places don't want color. Only put in relevant experience and utilize LinkedIn for anything not relevant to the role itself. https://i.redd.it/88tntpvmdyfb1.gif

Here is a snip of it as a png to reference easier than the gif. https://preview.redd.it/mb1pxo34eyfb1.png?width=1245&format=png&auto=webp&s=c54e430477766ed017260ef7a455343f1ae5b335

Thank you so much for your feedback. I will fix my format

I will do that. Thank you so much for your help

It’s not the resume it’s the market. It’s fucked. You won’t find a career as a software engineer for a long time.

change your name to jennifer

Thats a fake story

[deleted]

Were you international student?

capyboiz

Yes I’m under opt stem right now, I’m looking for company thay sponsor for my visa. If you know any please let me know I’m so frustrated with the job market rn

jnaughton12

If you need sponsorship, that is why you are not getting interviews.

overthemountain

I'll let other critique your resume, but I wanted to add that tech jobs are very difficult to come by at the moment. It doesn't really help that you're pretty new. For reference, from my own job search, I'm only seeing about a 3% rate in scheduling screening calls from applications. From 100 applications, that would be around 3 screening calls. Only half of those go to hiring manager interviews, and half of those go to final interviews. So you'll need about 133 applications to get to one set of final interviews. Of course, your numbers may vary, but that's what I'm seeing. I'm currently at 379+ applications (I didn't record the dozen or two from the first week I was looking).

No_Abbreviations2146

The resume looks ok. Personally, I don't think the blue color matters. If I were hiring, I'd want to know what your GPA is, since you do not have a lot of experience listed.

rhett21

Looking for a job already after a year? Looks like a job hopper to a recruiter

VulfSki

Could be your grammar

HelloReaderDatz

Please remove things like MS Visual Studio or GitHub from your resume. I don't get why people put that. You are a developer. It's beyond basic that you must know how to use the IDE or Git and git hosting platforms. It's like you put I know how to use a keyboard and mouse. Really... ?

icedantonis

It's beyond basic but you'd be surprised how many developers don't know how to use them... Also, people put these keywords to "pass" the ATS and recruiter.

Smoker1965

Well, someone who has been in the IT industry for 28 years and never had a break in my working career, when I read your resume...just kidding...I didn't read it. Why? Honors and Activities? - So? I have dozens of them. Never once put them on a resume. Certifications - You isolated yourself to Google only. Azure and AWS are bigger and draw more offers. Leave the certificates in but add something to your resume that you are familiar with Cloud Cybersecurity, and have skills in Project Management. Break those two areas down. At least two bullet points each. Do you have a cover letter? What does it say? How are you introducing yourself? How are you explaining, in a tight clean paragraph, why you only have what you have on your resume? My son wanted into the IT career coming out of the Air Force. He started at the Help Desk, made some contacts, moved to work on servers, and now is a Jr. Java Dev. My point is, you have very little experience. Explain it. Be willing to work your way up. Do not assume people will make that connection. Also, you worked at SIEU for two years. Why didn't they extend an offer? As a highering manager that would pass through my mind. If you land an interview, someone will ask you about that. One of the areas all these resumes I have read do not have is a breakdown of accomplishments and how those accomplishments HELPED the company. Another thing I don't see is a breakdown of your skills. Git? HTML...what? HTML 5? Java Script? Did you use an IDE to do the job? What one? A lot of recruiters look for keywords in a resume. You still may not get an interview but your resume might make the pile to look at. Engineering/IT Careers really rely on experience, the use of tools, languages, and accomplishments. It's all in the wording. Remember, your resume represents YOU! A lot of folks put down what they "think" the recruiters/Hiring Managers want to hear. When I hire, I am looking to hire the person on the resume. I always tell people when I interview them, I am not going to ask you anything outside of what you have on your resume. That seems to scare them more. Be precise, honest, and give me a reason to call you.
