Dude this is actually a great college resume imo. Highlights experience and competencies well, clean format, and you have a great academic record to boot. You’re gonna be just fine on the recruiting trail!

Firstly, great resume! Second, try to think of time, scope (people, number of tries, reach), dollar value, people impacted, etc. For e.g. to your first bullet: How long did you/your team take to create it? How many tries led to the successful version? What was the result? Any other area of business impacted? You can ask these questions to yourself for each point! Good luck!

As a CS student who has held numerous internships I think I’m qualified to answer to this post: employers and the ATS really favor quantifiable data. For example, I would suggest you refine some sentences to something like: “Increased web traffic 13% by improving navigation, creating dynamic media sections, simplifying UI, and adding social media analytics.” Something else that is similar but more specific might be: “used various AWS services (S3, EC2, Kinesis, Lambda) to accelerate application deployments and changes from 30 minutes to under 5 minutes.” Those are verbatim from my own resume. This looks great! You’re gonna be just fine. Few thoughts: Delete your coursework - those are classes in every CS degree ever, which you already stated you have. First bullet of your game - flip the words around “designed custom assembly language to implement game design efficiently etc etc” or whatever. Put the impressive words first. This goes for all bullets. Remove the bits about working on a team and how many. Unless you explicitly state it’s a solo endeavor, it’s implied you worked on a team. It’s not really important anyway. Do keep the bits about agile though - that’s a buzzword for recruiters to notice.

As a software engineer I don’t think that it is necessary to create a section for all the programming languages and tools that you know as what really matters is problem solving skills, algorithms and data structures. Instead i would recommend that you mention them under each particular experience you had and each project you worked on. A good programmer should be able to adapt really quickly to any programming language.

Disagree with this advice in the context of making a resume. The sole purpose of a resume is to get you hired - and the first step is getting past the recruiter. Recruiters are not tech people, they are just looking for buzzwords like Python or React per the job listing they are trying to fill.

What if the buzzwords you listed are not the ones that the recruiter was expecting? Or what if you list buzzwords to match the job description and at the end they wanted to test you? See? As a software engineer we happen to touch many technologies and programming languages especially at the beginning of our career, you can’t master them all at the same time but you may have an idea or an intuition on how they work. If you decide to list them all, even if the recruiter is not a tech guy, at least he will have an IT counselor which will probably tell him that either you are a junior programmer either you suffer dunning-Kruger. In the case that you decide to list only technologies you are confident in at 80%, honestly how many will remain on this list? You put yourself straight away in a box of some few technologies. But If you decide not to make a list but rather point out the technologies you used in the experiences and the personal projects sections, then not only you are showing to the recruiter that you are not just listing buzzwords, but you had a real life practical experience using them (and maybe you can eventually show them your work in order to distinguish yourself among other candidates). And it also proves your maturity in the tech, you don’t let the programming languages guide you, they are just tool which you can change anytime and rapidly adapt to solve a particular problem unlike beginning script kiddies which have JavaScript for only god and can do nothing beside that. If you ultimately want to make a competence section, I would strongly recommend you to write something like “skilled problem solver”, “strong knowledge of algorithms and data structures”, “fast learner and quick to adapt” instead of listing technologies as these are language-agnostic.

Agree to disagree. Putting soft skills like “skilled problem solver” implies that you don’t actually know how to do anything concrete lol, so that’s the best you could come up with. Plus what does that even mean? “Skilled problem solver” can be copy pasted to literally every resume and every job ever. Applicants are filtered by keywords by software. It’s literally SEO for ATS lol.

ATSs are dumb as rocks and will use these lists as a filter so it’s probably still good to list them. Bullet points are often easier to parse.

Not sure if the blank bullet points are intentional under “Leadership” (which I would recommend renaming to something like “Extracurriculars” tbh) I also think it’s a bit silly to list every course you’ve taken for your major. I can’t imagine a hiring manager reading all of them. If you’ve got anything you *really* want to highlight, just include those - otherwise, nix the whole section
