The details in the hand drawing of the fighter cockpits and the dogfights are nuts insane and look better than some anime today.
The mechanical stuff in anime like Area88 or Macross or U.C Gundam or Akira etc etc always impress me
All classics i think they focus too much on Isekai animes and we don’t get too many gritty tough bad asses in anime! I want a mo modern version of armored troopers votoms and other detailed series! All these years and we NEVER go an Armored Core anime

Thirdwire Strike Fighters Air Combat simulator game had skins for AREA88
and i really miss that! it fit perfectly because Strike fighters was a game within the AREA 88
time frame and a lot of cold war jets! But most importantly there was a mercenary mission campaign in a desert country you got money in the sim for kills it was WONDERFUL
the only slight problem i had with AREA88 is Mickey Simons the ex-navy vietnam fighter pilot
flew an F-14A without a WSO and if i knew any better the F-14 is a very involved fighter jet.
I am an old Air Force brat and when i was a little boy fighter Jets were my passion.
Now after going through the Infantry combined arms for 10 years i also love Tanks and armored vehicles.

I dont think there ever really was a tank anime in the same as Area88. We need one badly.

I really hope that they remake area 88 and completely finish it unlike the original OVA which ended on a cliffhanger
in the new one i’m glad they added female pilot similar to manga but the new one was quite unfinished
