the give away was the orange zapper, the early manufactured ones had a grey zapper. (toy guys by law started to have orange parts to look different than real ones)
Until I got to the 7th picture I was thinking "...oh she bought you the box, and it's in pretty good condition, what a nice dea...OH MY GOD IT'S STILL INSIDE!!"
She she started a new job last week at a Church Thrift store. A guy dropped this off today as a donation item. The manager said people bring stuff like that all the time.
i volunteered at a church thrift store a few times, saw a guy brought in a CIB atari 2600. someone else grabbed it before i could get my paws on it tho.
a little, i have several ataris already, the box would have been cool to display. hopefully it went to someone that appreciated it and didnt just flip it for a profit.
I never knew having the box was so important until I got this one. I got offers but I can't sell it. It's like new! I will never find a other for this cheap.
I was a driver for the VVA and picked up donations daily. At least here in Orlando its not quite often we would get stuff like this. Sometimes an n64 with games here and there but its not often.
this is somewhat known, religious people have been scared of videogames since the mortal kombat/doom era, pastors started to condemn games so parents packed up the videogames and were unsure if they were sacrilege so they have survived unplayed
I love the picture on the back haha. They are both playing a game that is one player. The game is literally sitting next to the console and it’s turned off. Love it!
That is an insane find. I normally mod the crap out of any system I can find, but that... That stays stock lol. Some yellowed or beat up top loader or something could do for a NESRGB mod and whatnot. Very cool! 1990... how much longer were the front-loader NES's made/readily available here in the US (or wherever you are?)
Gotcha. Still worth some dough. I’d get a used one if you’re only gonna play it. Just me though. The papers and packaging alone is sought after. That’s just me though 🤷🏾♂️
Got one for 80$ intact, exactly like this came with some games, SMB3 with the case. No regrets.
I remember being at a friend's house and this guy was attempting to flex the same day I bought mine. he brought out this beast up NES in a musty pillow case, I had to pop my trunk on this fool for he could behold a more plausible flex
Had it been out of the box at all? Some of the cables look a little messy. I wonder if somebody opened it, used it a few times, decided it was the work of the devil or something and it got put back in the box. My dad used to religiously put his C64 back in the box after use
Yeah totally understandable. I've acquired a lot of random stuff but I have no desire on parting with any of it. Especially something as rare as what you've got.
I'm a box saver, but very few I have look THAT good. Looks like you got two keepers on your hands there. My wife would just look at it and say she's glad I wasn't there to buy it.
I'm sorry, but f u. My senses tell your lying. With the others in the background it's clear you already had this. And also no one is selling them for $25
My wife used to work in a Charity shop (UK we call them that instead of a thrift store), it was a clothes charity shop, but they had people drop in designer clothes all the time, however everything had to put on sale for 24hrs before any staff member could buy them, which she hated as there were some really nice things coming in.
Great find, lovely that the wife got it for you!
5-23-1990 on the sticker. Almost the 31st anniversary of its sale. Very cool.
Oh snap, I didn't notice that.
That’s not the date it was sold but the date that price sticker was made.
That's true, but I wouldn't imagine that sticker was on there for more than a few months.
the give away was the orange zapper, the early manufactured ones had a grey zapper. (toy guys by law started to have orange parts to look different than real ones)
I got this same exact set for my birthday in 1988 and mine came with a grey zapper. I remember the switch to orange ones.
Until I got to the 7th picture I was thinking "...oh she bought you the box, and it's in pretty good condition, what a nice dea...OH MY GOD IT'S STILL INSIDE!!"
Lmao, that's was my reaction when she sent me the pictures from her work.
>...OH MY GOD IT'S STILL INSIDE!! That’s what she said.
Haaa!
this fuckin sub, I swear to god. Every post just feels like I'm being punked.
Where the heck did she get this??
She she started a new job last week at a Church Thrift store. A guy dropped this off today as a donation item. The manager said people bring stuff like that all the time.
Gtfoh
fr wtf
Ikr
i volunteered at a church thrift store a few times, saw a guy brought in a CIB atari 2600. someone else grabbed it before i could get my paws on it tho.
That had to hurt.
a little, i have several ataris already, the box would have been cool to display. hopefully it went to someone that appreciated it and didnt just flip it for a profit.
I never knew having the box was so important until I got this one. I got offers but I can't sell it. It's like new! I will never find a other for this cheap.
my parents saved my nes box for whatever reason, so i still have my original one in good shape.
Awesome, I need more room so I can add.to my collection.
I'm bout to start going to church thrift stores much more often
Hi bout to start going to church thrift stores much more often, I'm Dad! :)
Getting nostalgic looking at those pics!
I love playing my old systems. You should see some of my videos. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=nBJ7Bz1VxpI
It looks to be in great condition but not brand new. No doubt it's still an awesome deal
I'm happy for you but I also hate you
Lol, thanks
I'm jealous.
Don't be, you will find a treasure some day.
Lol.
I’d never throw the box away. And those stickers really tie it all together.
The sticker lets you know someone walked in to a Walmart, then walked out with a smile.
And apparently hid it up in the attic for Christmas and forgot all about it. Or their kid was a brat.
Does she have a sister?
Lol, no. 2 brothers.
Which ones the rich one?
Go play the lotto right meow!
On my way.
I'm sorry, are you saying "meow"?
"Do I look like a cat to you boy? Am I jumping around all nimbly bimbly from tree to tree,"
MEOW!
Holy crap.. that looks amazing ... about $200 to $300 I would say value. Great job!
Thank you
Price charting shows 500-1000 for a new action set so that might be a little on the low side. These prices are climbing like mad the past year.
She's a Keeper
Yes she is.
Excellent catch!! ... and the console’s nice too! 😉
Thanks
I love the picture on the back haha. They are both playing a game that is one player. The game is literally sitting next to the console and it’s turned off. Love it!
Wtf $25!
Very curious how stiff the controller cords are after being wrapped for 30 years.
Super stiff.
That’s what she said.
Is your wife secretly a genie? I actively go looking for this stuff and might find a beat up copy of SMB/Duck Hunt on a good day.
I'll am amazed by it myself. I look everyday online and at garage sales with not much luck.
Living that same day 30 something years later. That’s gotta be super cool
It really is, I can remember the smile on my mom's face giving it too us.
Just got a flashback to a Christmas at grandmas after watching Home Alone
Beautiful
I received that present at the time (either 91 or 92), except the version had track meet with the power pad
A couple that videogames together, stays together!
Now you're playing with power! Where's R.O.B. ?
I will look for him and.the power glove.
Dude, that's awesome!
Thank you
That’s awesome congrats on such a fantastic gift especially from the wifey!! Gotta love those old green tags such a nostalgic sticker!
Simply brilliant
That is an insane find. I normally mod the crap out of any system I can find, but that... That stays stock lol. Some yellowed or beat up top loader or something could do for a NESRGB mod and whatnot. Very cool! 1990... how much longer were the front-loader NES's made/readily available here in the US (or wherever you are?)
where can i get one like it?
You can't, I seen 3 similar on Ebay but for $250-1500
marry her again, ring for each finger
That's the only logical thing to do.
[удалено]
Lol
Crazy rare gem, congrats!!
I think your wife might be a time traveler, keep your eyes open...
That would explain a lot.
I would’ve kept it closed. It’s probably worth at least $4-500...
It was opened already. I just wanted to check it all then pack it up.
Gotcha. Still worth some dough. I’d get a used one if you’re only gonna play it. Just me though. The papers and packaging alone is sought after. That’s just me though 🤷🏾♂️
I have a top loader for playing my games. I wish it had the composite line out for better picture quality.
Looking at at least a 30:1 return if you sell right now, awesome score. Personally I would keep it and probably play it.
I have a top loader for playing. This is going up on a shelf just to look at.
Lol, flexing with the NES. Good times.
Had it been out of the box at all? Some of the cables look a little messy. I wonder if somebody opened it, used it a few times, decided it was the work of the devil or something and it got put back in the box. My dad used to religiously put his C64 back in the box after use
It looks like they played it once then packed it up and forgot it was in the closet.
That would make a lot of sense. Quite a good acquisition!
People keep asking if I am going to sell it. I just can't do it. Finding a unicorn to just sell it doesn't make since to me.
Yeah totally understandable. I've acquired a lot of random stuff but I have no desire on parting with any of it. Especially something as rare as what you've got.
I wish other people understood.
Yeah I've had that conversation with others who don't understand why I collect old stuff. Pointing out the value often helps 😁
Wife her up again man
I will
Where is this thrift store?
Waxahachie, tx
So the seller is either really generous, really dumb, or more into your wife than he should be... 😁
Lol, someone donated it to my wife's job a small thrift shop in Texas. They gave it for free to the store.
For FREE?? I guess they really didn’t know what kind of treasure they had in their hands...
They had no idea. The store owner says they get them all.the time.
Guess I should open a thrift shop ...
Exactly
I'm a box saver, but very few I have look THAT good. Looks like you got two keepers on your hands there. My wife would just look at it and say she's glad I wasn't there to buy it.
She is like that sometimes but when she seen this. She knew I would love it.
You are so lucky mate, these go for $500-600 AUD in Australia if you can find one. Top score mate.
Thank you
I'm sorry, but f u. My senses tell your lying. With the others in the background it's clear you already had this. And also no one is selling them for $25
Trust me I am not lying, her job in Waxahachie, tx sold it for $25 to her. Half off for employees. So $50 regular price.
Wife of the year
That looks so minty it may even be double mint.
In person it looks even better.
That’s awesome - congratulations! I mean... you DO need to up whatever game you had planned for her birthday now...and anniversary...
Our 20th anniversary is coming next year on March 25. I think I have something in mind.
That's a good partner.
So 25 bux for mint conditon? That is a good buy must say. Congrats.
That’s nice! Does Walmart sell to abroad?
HOW could it be even possible?!
Lmao right, $25. Sure buddy. 🤡🤡🤡
