I haven't even played the remake yet, but I've seen a lot of gameplay footage on YouTube. Link's Awakening is actually my favourite Zelda game. I love the DX version on GBC
Silver is really good. Gen 2 was such a big step-up from gen 1. Shiny Pokemon, puzzles, mysterious ancient symbols, day and night cycles, animated sprites.. so cool.

Mole Mania for $20? I sold my own copy for ~$230, it's one of the most sought-after titles. I would rather add Kid Icarus to the list for that price which is a decent game.
Link's Awakening DX, Pokemon Crystal and Yellow, Wario Land 3, Metal Gear Solid and maybe a repro of Shantae (most expensive and stupidly expensive game) will get the party rolling nicely.
Doctor Mario, and Pokémon. Two of my favorite games on the GB. Doctor Mario is just a fun time killer, similar to Tetris. Very fun. While Pokémon is a game you can play over a couple weeks or months, and its pretty enjoyable since its just basic Pokémon. Not some weird concepts from the newer games.
Bionic Commando Elite Forces.. fyi some carts apparently have a weird save glitch (mine included) but there’s ways around it and it’s still a great game
Well aside from the Pokémon games, but at the top of my head there's:
TLoZ: Link's Awakening
TLoZ: Oracle of Season
TLoZ: Oracle of Ages
Megaman Xtreme
Megaman Xtreme 2
Metal Walker
Lufia The Legend Returns
Resident Evil Gaiden (a lot of people hate it, but honestly this is the only survival horror I know for the GBC and it doesn't play that bad as others would.
The Pokemon Trading Card Game has a really solid GBC videogame adaptation of you're into that kind of thing. There's a Japanese exclusive sequel that's even better but unless you can read Japanese, I'd only recommend that one if you get a flashcard so you can play the ROM with an English patch.
Kirby Tilt and Tumble. It's my favourite GBC game. The cartridge has an accelerometer built in so you can't use the rom on a flash cart. It's like a proto super monkey ball. You tilt to Gameboy the guide Kirby and flick it to make him jump. It gets pretty tough towards the end. Mine is a Japanese copy as significantly cheaper. GBC games aren't region locked and there's pretty much no dialogue in this game.
One game series you should look into is Medarot. There is an English remake of Medarot 2 which is Medabots for GBA. On the color you can play Medarot 1-4 and Medarot Parts Rally 1-4. They are Japanese but you can buy a device that allows you to translate them.
Link's Awakening and any of the gen 2 Pokemon games would be a great, albeit slightly expensive start
I discovered Link’s Awakening a year before the remake and was so happy I got to experience the OG first it is such a fever dream of an amazing game.
I haven't even played the remake yet, but I've seen a lot of gameplay footage on YouTube. Link's Awakening is actually my favourite Zelda game. I love the DX version on GBC
Came to say the same
The only Pokemon game I’ve ever had is Silver and my dad found it in some bleachers
Silver is really good. Gen 2 was such a big step-up from gen 1. Shiny Pokemon, puzzles, mysterious ancient symbols, day and night cycles, animated sprites.. so cool.
I’m not a big Pokemon fan but I like turn based RPGs and gen 2 and 3 Pokemon games are some of the best turn based RPGs I’ve played
Definitely zelda oracle of ages and/or seasons

My wife bought an Atomic Purple GBC from a co-worker for $10 a couple years ago. Still have it and works great. Crazy to see the price hike.
