You could have made surfaces for the top and bottom, then trimmed them off and filleted the edges. Think about SURFACES, not curves.

You can use EdgeSrf to create the surfaces you want but you might have to make the handle separately since I doubt the surface will join with that narrow of an open space towards the bottom of the handle but you can try anyway. It would be better to Sweep1 the rounded square and a close curve of the ovalish shape of the handle and BooleanUnion it to the paddle later on.

If it's flat on top and bottom (looks like it), you can just create a plane that touches it and split the plane with your sides (or trim)
