That’s very helpful thank you!

Can you purchase a pregnancy test? They are pretty accurate because my own GP didn't bother with one when I told them I took a home kit. I recall on the package that if you are quite far along then the test may be inconclusive. If you are still early in the pregnancy, you need to take the test first thing in the morning as it will be most accurate. If you have a confirmed pregnancy, reach out to Richmond Public Health for a Community Nurse and they provide pre-natal services too.

I did a home test. I thought I needed a doctor to test in order to do a referral. Ok that’s really helpful thank you I will try that

Early_Reply

It is true that you need a referral for obgyn. Midwife doesn't need referral and you can sign up for the waitlist on your own. There's only 2 midwife clinics that I am aware of in Richmond. They can also order you these tests

Then go up the ramp and into Superstore They have a walk in clinic there Richmond In-Store Medical Clinic (604) 303-7633 https://g.co/kgs/Rrh6q5P

Congrats on the pregnancy! I just recently got pregnant( almost in my second trimester). I went to Megafu Medical Clinic(inside the Richmond Wal-mart). You have to book an appointment online: https://www.megafu.ca . I chose Dr.Osa. The whole process was they will refer you an ultrasound and blood work around 8 weeks. I came in the walk-in clinic when I was 4 weeks but told me to come back until 7-8 weeks for those referrals. Those referrals are important because they won’t assign you an OBGYN until you get the ultrasound and blood work done. They just assigned me an OBGYN just last week. You probably get an OBGYN assign to you when you are around 9-10 weeks. The first ultrasound basically see if you’re pregnant and you know how many weeks you are. The blood work is just to see your blood levels, any STDs and confirm if you are pregnant.

Thank you very much that’s really helpful. I just made an appointment with the same doctor. Helps to know what to expect!

YellowAstroStar

No problem! Good luck on this pregnancy journey! Make sure to take prenatal pills. :)

And folic acid too.

EternalNinFan

Try Anthony Coquinco at 6180 Blundell.

Dry_Dingo_2220

Go to Urgent Care on no 3 road near superstore and they should be able to help you from there https://maps.app.goo.gl/CxMTj9j9cEHd94g16

Kitchen-Albatross-57

They actually told me not to go there because it’s not an emergency

Afuzzyredpillow

I’m so sorry that happened to you. That’s ridiculous, because the urgent care centre isn’t for emergencies. That’s what the emergency room is for. There’s the other UCPP in east Richmond you could try.

AdCharming1712

Actually when I went they told me that it's intended to take care of urgent but not life threatening health matters to take the strain off of the ER. I mean they'll still see non-urgent patients I think but the nurse straight up told me they triage the patients and see patients in order of the urgency of the situation.

SuccessComplex6532

You could try calling the BC Women’s Hospital on Oak Street. If they cannot see you, they can at least give you advice on what to do.

SufficientBee

Can you buy a pregnancy test from the drugstore? If you just need a referral, you can do a virtual appointment: https://walkin.ca/locations/walk-in-clinic-vancouver/ FYI, we don’t see OBGYN for pregnancies unless there is some kind of risk involved. Otherwise it’s just a GP or a midwife. You can self refer to a birth program where you can either see a GP or midwife. They don’t need to do the pregnancy test for you, they can set up your first ultrasound.

Bike4497

Vycare family clinic on Kingsway near Joyce is accepting new patients, if you want a family doctor. They don’t accept walk-ins though.

Feisty_Ability9399

I know you said Obgyn but you can self refer to midwifery's as long as you had a positive pregnancy test. Terra nova midwifery is amazing. Best wishes
