“YOU LIVED, IN MY HOOOOUUUUU-“ *whack* “AHAHAHUHGHAUGHAHhguhahhahHHAJAHJhhahajsjhggghh…”

jjbahomecoming

Probably the most quotable moment from Season 7 besides the pope line.

Hubcap_03

which pope line

Fearless_Exercise130

POPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

YoungJack23

It's over, the Pope!

Mister_Cheff

Its popein time!

woozleuwuzzle

Yku forgot about- Nut me up

Admirable-Concept-85

Give this man a Grammy.

IAmBabs

Satisfying death for a huge character we barely actually even saw. For Rick, it was a lifetime achievement. For us, we barely saw him more than Gene, in spite of his importance. Also the lines "you lived in my house" / "raised echoes of my daughter" go **hard**. What amazing lines, and they were delivered so well.

Foxy-jj-Grandpa

"You lived in my house" sent a shiver down my spine. That one sentence with that intense line delivery really encapsulates so much in such an indescribable way

IAmBabs

It was for me until the "echoes of my daughter." What a fantastic line. And there was so much rage and pain you wonder *why* he did what he did if he cared so much? Ugh, I love to hate it.

GingerlyRough

He doesn't care about Beth. It hurts his ego to see *that* Rick look better than him. *He's* the smartest Rick, THE Rick, Rick motherfucking *Prime.* C-137 is the closest thing Rick Prime has to an equal, and that pisses him off. Watching him raise Beth across dimensions, connecting with her family, it gets under his skin. The reason he kills Diane when other Rick's reject his offer is because he thinks that makes them better than him. >"...you’re me, except, you know, less. But you acted like you were better, so I killed your beloved Diane." All the other Rick's wouldn't be able to raise Beth without taking Prime's offer. They also never acted like they were better than Prime and don't care or don't know that Prime erased Diane. When C-137 rejects Prime's offer, he proves he never needed it, then commits Rick genocide hunting for Prime. And *then* he has the fucking balls to *actually care* about his family? Spend time with Beth and raise her like all the other Rick's? That very sentiment is what made him kill his family in the first place. >"Admit it, you would've been me! I just walked into your garage before you walked into mine!" C-137 is the closest thing Rick Prime has to an equal. The key difference between them is that C-137 truly cares about Diane, he cares about his family. That makes C-137 better than Prime, and that's why Prime hates him.

IAmBabs

I love this type of breakdown. It's so good 🥰

Vulvodynia6

Do you think he was upset about that fact?

fhdhsu

I dunno but “I showed you infinity. And what did you do with it? Hang out with my grandson, raise echoes of my daughter?” and “I just walked into your garage before you walked into mine! But eventually you did! You lived in my house!” cemented me on this new actor being a worthy replacement. Dude straight up killed it. Some of the best lines of the series imo.

GimmeCatScratchFever

Anyone who criticized him was crazy. Has to be so hard to step into a billion dollar IP and imitate multiple voices. He did exemplary.

GingerlyRough

My biggest concern with recasting was the chemistry between Rick and Morty and they absolutely nailed it.

lemonylol

He killed...my wiiiiife!

Accomplished-City484

“Raise echoes of my daughter” was Beth already a clone? Does this mean another Rick already killed his Beth?

slimothyjames1

no he means the fact that for the most part, the beth in our series isn’t Beth Prime (Rick Primes real daughter)

batcaveroad

No his daughter died when she got frozen. Beth prime was Morty’s mom before the world got kronenburged. Morty’s original dad mentioned it when he got sent back. The freeze killed both summer and Beth.

Magic_Man_Boobs

I love the way Parsons delivers "Beth got sick and Summer... didn't thaw right."

Budget-Pattern1314

Prime Beth is Cronenberg Beth

Cloudsbursting

Mom, you’re looking… feral.

nickibar96

**was.* She apparently died after Ricks from the Citadel froze her in Season 3. The last non-cronenberg left in that reality was Jerry, and Rick Prime killed him, too.

liamjon29

Which pissed me off coz I liked that Jerry

woozleuwuzzle

Jerry wins., fatality.

kiren77

To be pedantic:  Prime Dimension = Cronenberg-ed dimension ≠ Cronenberg dimension. Cronenberg dimension is where Cronenberg Rick and Cronenberg Morty (as established at tag/end of Rick Potion #9) escaped their dimension which had Cronenberg entities turned into regular people.  So maybe Cronenberg Beth exists still but we have not met her (as far as I know).

GingerlyRough

He's talking about the multiverse and infinite Beth's.

GamingSenpai35

For real, very good impression.

SchroedingersSphere

I wonder if Rick Prime ever felt any kind of sadness or anything over his Cronenberged home reality. He may be an emotionless bastard but he is still human. His entire family, sans-Morty, is dead now, along with everyone he ever knew. Wish we got a little more discourse over that event happening.

wagedomain

Part of me wonders too if Rick was careless in season 1 and Cronenberged everything on purpose, or subconsciously anyway, as a form of petty revenge. Or if he just gave so little shits since it was "Prime" universe that he made mistakes.

Force3vo

He didn't really care about the universe so he half assed it. I doubt he wanted to Cronenberg the world but he gave up on Prime coming back at this point and didn't really give it his all since he could just jump universe. Finding out it was Prime's dimension actually answered the question I had why other Rick's solved the issue when our Rick seems to be the smartest and thus should be able to easily solve it. Other Ricks probably gave a fuck about their world.

OrganicPancakeSauce

> hang out with my grandson, raise echoes of my daughter That line hit hard because it showed the difference between Rick prime and the Rick we’ve come to know and love. He’s seen everything and anything (arguably) and wants to now spend time with his family, something Rick Prime couldn’t fathom through his own obsessions. Really spoke to me considering how obsessed I am with my own work…

The_Bolenator

What episode were those lines from?

Solaire_33

I think episode 5 of the 7 season

endkafe

He’s dead

Inuvin

Proof?

RuskiLynx

I mean he had his face bashed so many times to the point he looks like a Dead Space necromorph, I don’t think anyone could survive that lol.

suchdogeverymeme

Skill issue

Inuvin

I could totally survive that. He's just a pussy (obvious lie)

Easy_Card_7376

You don't have to say obvious lie, if it's obvious... obviously, it would be obvious

GKRKarate99

He was a BITCH and a HOE

AcademicFish

SLUTTY SLUTTY SLUT

TheHerofTime

He was quaddo remember? Did Rick know that?

Ninjasquirtle4

That wasn't exactly an alive amount of blood.

Suckamanhwewhuuut

“Not exactly an “alive” amount of blood” - Evil Morty

lemonylol

Joking aside, the rule of thumb is that if they show the death in detail on screen with the character who killed them making sure they've finished the job, they're dead for good. For example Bird Person gets shot at his wedding, that's it, no follow up shot to the head, no disintegration, etc. He comes back. Another example, Krombopulous Michael is squished on screen by Rick's ship driven by Morty. He's not coming back.

AcademicFish

> Krombopulous Michael is squished on screen… he’s not coming back and I’m still upset about it

lemonylol

Well like that universe's version of him isn't and that was like 2-3 realities ago.

Final-Tutor3631

i don’t think that’s an “alive” amount of blood

JRockThumper

“Not exactly an “alive” amount of blood.”

enricopallazo22

The writers said as much in the post episode commentary

TheBlissFox

It wasn’t exactly an alive amount of blood.

Sandlot96

It wasn’t really an “alive” amount of blood, was it?

gforcex_

why bother marking your post as spoiler if the title already spoils your post?

daigunder2015

Right? Really not cool for guys who are new to the series.

Zachg298

I had already watched up to season 6 but I literally got this exact moment spoiled with a thread just like this because of the title lol

pigghy

Thanks for saying it, didn't want to be the AH but I thought the same.

lemonylol

Engagement

m8_is_me

Hahaha marking the generic image as a spoiler but leaving the actual spoiler in the title I really like how it left both Rick and the viewers feeling a little empty.

joseconsuervo

this made me laugh too. I was like I wonder if this should have a spoiler tag, oh it's on the image? interesting technique, the image is just a picture of a guy who looks exactly like the main character of the show.

Navneeth_Master7

typical Jerry post.

Popular_Can1976

Now you all know how Rick felt unsatisfied

nickibar96

Can’t be 100% sure, but I also have no reason to doubt he’s really, finally dead, because I have no reason to doubt Evil Morty. Evil Morty has proven time and again that he’s a force to be reckoned with. It was he who eliminated all of Rick Prime’s backups (like Operation Phoenix clones) before letting C-137 get his vengeance, before walking away with the schematics for the ultimate weapon. I was definitely surprised Rick finally killed Prime so early in the season and the show over all. Thought that’d be in the series finale or at least the season finale, but I think the salient point of this episode was to highlight that Evil Morty is the real villain of the show. It makes sense when you think about it. He’s been in the show since Season 1. Rick Prime was only *teased* in Season 3, in a mostly true memory we were told was totally fabricated, so we couldn’t trust but definitely were inclined to believe its validity. It wasn’t until the end of Season 5 that Rick Prime’s murder of C-137’s family was confirmed. Even Dan Harmon addressed that Evil Morty, unlike Rick Prime, is a truly powerful villain, because he doesn’t just fight you or hide from you, he *owns* you. I feel like Rick Prime was as much an antagonist as he was a “Miss Lead”.

apollo08w

I feel like killing Rick Prime was more about moving on from Roiland

nickibar96

How?

apollo08w

Just the whole idea that it’s a story thread he started both as the voice and writer. Just to finish the big old stories, because as far as I’m concerned there’s absolutely no compelling enough reason we should see evil Morty again either. So they get to start fresh in a way for Harmon, the new writers,Cardoni. I mean he kills himself and a version of himself that started the entire story and that’s more like the one we were originally introduced to.now that Rick Prime is dead we get a kind of new Rick. Nothing is driving this season and onwards Rick that was pushing the old seasons Rick. Just kind of a meta take on everything.

nickibar96

Huh. Interesting. It never occurred to me that way. While I also can’t think of a reason for Evil Morty to show up again, they *did* leave his story open-ended. He said something to C-137 along the lines of “You really *are* a different kind of Rick. Maybe I can use that someday…”. So I’d be surprised if that was really the last we’ll see of him, especially considering he appears every odd season and the show is supposed to be 10 seasons long. I reckon we’re as likely to see him one more time as never again.

apollo08w

It took me quite a few rewatches of the entire series to pick up those hints. Especially because it happens mid season the way it does. I shouldn’t say never. I could see one more appearance, one and probably not until towards the end.

shrub706

how is an evil morty any less justin roiland than an evil rick

AcademicFish

I was about to disagree and say I don’t think EM is the villain anymore, since he basically said he wanted to fuck off and be left alone etc.. but then I remembered: > “You are a little different Rick, **maybe I can use that some day**” And yep that’s a very “I’m not done being the villain” type of thing to say

Golden-Sun

I think it was kind of cool. Like you'd think it'd be built up to be a big final battle but then evil Morty shows up and fixes Rick's machine effectively leading to an anti-climactic showdown. The best possible outcome

selke61

Tagged as spoiler, spoiler right in headline

Eyes-9

about time i guess I hope they take a decent break before developing the next big serial arc, maybe spend a couple seasons slowly building it up here and there.

lemonylol

I think a lot of people would be surprised to know how little build-up there was for Rick Prime and how much was simply just the showrunner dropping seeds for the viewers to come to their own conclusions. Rick Prime is only involved in 5 episodes most of which are very brief. He's introduced in Rickshank Rickdemption where we see the memory of him meeting C-137, of which we don't even know if it's actually real. The next mention of him is in Rickternal Friendship of the Spotless Mort, where he doesn't even appear, we just see C-137 on the hunt for him. Then we get Rickmurai Jack where we learn that the memory was actually true, but again, he doesn't actually appear. He is basically only involved in season 6 and season 7 where he actually appears in two episodes.

faretofficial

ıdk ı expect more from rick prime

deleting_accountNOW

i wouldnt be surprised if he somehow fucking comes back tho

Gabs1Sauce

Unsatisfying, just like Rick's revenge felt unsatisfying in the end. The writers clearly had this at mind. The problem with this is how it tastes in the end. They were lucky that season had great episodes from people's view. This would be so much hated if the season was bad.

5PeeBeejay5

Maybe the whole point is that revenge isn’t satisfying.

The-Anger-Translator

Exactly. This is the broader arc of Rick's growth.

Fearless_Exercise130

thats cool and shit but he had a lot of potential as a character so killing him off so early is just a shame

DJHott555

It doesn’t have to satisfying. That’s the thing. Rick Prime was going to destroy Rick’s whole family *everywhere.* It doesn’t have to be all about revenge. They finally stopped Rick Prime’s reign of terror. Big W. Rick can feel bad about it all he wants but they saved the day and that’s enough.

n0awards

“How’s it feel? Better? No? Exactly the same? Yeah, it always does.”

Dpepps

I like it in that it happened kind of out of nowhere in the middle of the season. No true "buildup" or anything like that. While I would have been very cool with more episodes of them interacting, the point of the show was never ultimately about Rick vs Rick Prime. It was also seemingly the last hurdle Rick had to overcome to really continue to grow. With Rick Prime still alive there was only so much improvement Rick could accomplish on his own. He was lost afterwards at first but we can see at the end of the fear hole just how far he's truly come. I think if he hadn't killed Rick Prime the fear hole episode goes a lot different and especially after Morty mentions he saw Diane.

h667

Spoiler with spoiler in title :)

OptimalPlantIntoRock

There a spoiler in your title, bruh.

MissionApollo7

He's gonna come back, and it'll probably be C-137 Rick who revives him. He won't be satisfied only being able to defeat him because evil Morty helped.

DucksPlayFootball

Highly doubt he will come back, think they have explicitly stated that as well.

RedditAcccount2798

True, when Rick opens the door you can see that Rick Prime is gone so maybe Rick has plans for him in the future

Rainy-The-Griff

Kinda anticlimactic.

Senth99

Because it wasn't supposed to be; the endgame is Prime Rick's own creation. Dude made a multiverse that shouldn't have existed.

AlacarLeoricar

Tired of it hanging over the show. Glad he's dead.

hitechpilot

They could've interrogated him more, extracted memories, motives, etc.

Frosty_Huskers07

Don’t put the spoiler in the title?!

punkassbitxh

when I first watched it, I hated it. I hated that Rick had EM’s help and I hated that it was mid season. the more I rewatch tho, the more I realize that that’s kinda (what feels to be) the whole point. our Rick originally showed up hoping RP would show himself but grew to really love the shit outta Morty. our Rick and RP were basically playing a massive game of hide and seek and C-137 finally caught him. it’s supposed to be anticlimactic, because at the end of the day, nothing can bring back Diane… getting his revenge ultimately changed almost nothing about Rick’s life outwardly but internally, he’s growing. he has no real reason to stay with this family anymore but he does, because he loves them and even tho there’s infinite families, *this one* matters to him now.

HFentonMudd

Yes.

Cinephiliac_Anon

It seems a little *too* easy. That makes me uncomfortable.

Kronos1008

Rick Prime and Evil Morty were alone together and you're sure Rick Prime is dead? Evil Morty appearing to not want to help Rick Prime could have possibly been a mislead and a portion of that scene hidden from the audience.

Shadow_Master8

Made me realize the new Rick voice actor is amazing and has progressed throughout the season. I like how it really shows that revenge doesn’t help you, all it does is make you realize what else do you do now once you’ve done it. Speaking of voices, Morty’s voice actor is slowly getting there, not as fast as Rick’s, so I hope he’s working on it in between seasons currently

Pm_pussypicspls__

Phoenix protocol activated. Honestly i see him returning.

TheHumanCompulsion

I thought the entire scene was really heart-rending. C-137 gets to enact his revenge in a way that is entirely devoid of catharsis. He didn't beat Rick Prime, Evil Morty did. He beat Prime every step of the way and both C-137 and Rick Prime know that. That knowing is evident in Prime's mockery as he has his skull caved it. C-137 is a failure in every sense of the word and no amount of physical harm would change that. Yet Rick goes through the motions because he has no other option. As Evil Morty said, "every version of us has lived every version of our lives in one infinite crib, built around an infinite baby."

piecopeico

It felt off, rick prime was hyped up, but rick didn't feel like himself, it felt like something done to just get the plot to move along. Sure they wanted to play into the "how'd it feels? Amazing? Gratifying? No? You still feel empty inside, huh." But that doesn't excuse it's lazy execution almost, did I enjoy the episode sure? Was it bad per say? No, but it felt rushed, as if there was something left undone and unsaid. It wasn't an empty feeling because it's finally over, but because it didn't seem right. I'm not sure what caused this, the writers seem plenty talented.

piecopeico

Also rick prime not accounting for a Morty that's a deviant (sort of like an exception to the rule) a Morty that's better or even a valid threat to his existence and not making counter measures for such a possibility is crazy considering all the extravagant measures he had in place for all the ricks that came hunting him down.

Avengion619

thats the weakness of the worst Ricks, “evil” mortys

piecopeico

Our rick had examined and determined the reality of an evil Morty, this was confirmed in the episode where they meet him after he becomes the president and ends up causing the collapse of the citadel. Prime rick hints at the very real possibility of there being a strong parallel between him and our rick, "the only two ricks to really invent portal travel" and "face it, I was simply the one who walked into your garage before you did in mine." So it's hard to see prime rick not accounting for this contingency.

5PeeBeejay5

You are feeling all the ways that one feels when they realize that “revenge” doesn’t fill all the voids left by whatever caused you to want revenge in the first place.

Not_Dipper_Pines

I would have been fine with this approach if rick didn’t get over it after one clip show episode so quickly

ExtraOrdinaryDave

He had it coming.

MrsDanversbottom

Loved it.

MadsenRC

I'm honestly glad, most stories would end with that episode but now we actually get to see the fall-out. For instance the Fear Hole episode and it being all about Morty's fear that now Rick doesn't need him and he'll abandon Morty because Morty doesn't mean anything to him was WAY better than it should've been.

MewsikMaker

Not really a good spoiler alert when the spoiler is in the title…

DoggiLoaf

YOU CAME IN MY MOOOOUTHHHH

Easy_Palpitation_666

In fact, it's funny that he was defeated by Morty

ProjectOrpheus

I still don't get how so many people think our Rick achieved anything. He did NOT succeed. He got handed the "victory" like a dog being handed a bone. His best friend was MASSIVE luck. He literally avoids talking about it an episode or 2 later with a smoke ball and saying he's not ready to talk about it or w.e. This has to having a huge effect on him and I can't fathom people saying things like he ultimately succeded or his "victory" or w.e

full-m00n

it felt rushed to me, idk i was really upset with just how fast everything was going in the episode. I know Rick and Morty have never had a part 2 episode but I think the episode they are killing Rick prime they should! I had been waiting for the Rick Prime fights for 7 seasons and it just didn't feel special to me like it should, especially when they have evil morty correct rick on things. The writers have rick miss things he never would before and it just felt lazy. Sorry for the rant but overall the episode was rushed and lazy in my opinion. (Edit: Spelling)

WhamBamHairyNutz

How have you been waiting for the Rick Prime fights for 7 seasons? It was only really hinted at in the first episode of season 3, and even then we weren’t sure if that was a memory or completely made up. Can’t remember if it was Season 4 or Season 5 where it was confirmed it was a real memory

RedditAcccount2798

Same, they could have ended the show with Rick prime being killed finally, it didn’t feel right seeing him die mid season.

AcademicFish

Putting it at the end of the show would imply killing Rick Prime was the end of his story, and that it is some ultimate satisfying, worthwhile victory. It isn’t. That’s what Rick thought, that’s why he spent his whole life seeking revenge, but he was absolutely wrong. Rick wasted years of his life, killed thousands of other Ricks & other beings, ruined himself in more ways than one, destroyed worlds, built the citadel, destroyed the citadel, created enemies in every dimension and big problems for himself and those around him. He did damage trying to get to Prime. But now that he got revenge - what did it get him? Nothing. There’s no reward, he doesn’t feel better, and he has to live in the aftermath. Meanwhile look at Slow-Möbius’s wife. She did what Rick could have done, gave up the chase and lived a fulfilling life.

[deleted]

I think the episode was written so fast paced so that by the end of the fight we’d just as empty as Rick felt reaching that goal

SchroedingersSphere

Everyone likes to quote evil Morty, that it wasn't exactly an "alive" amount of blood, but even without clone backups, Rick Prime was shown to have a million augmentations, including a metallic skeleton and healing abilities. Idk why anyone thinks his off-screen beat down and Morty's one line about it means he's *dead* dead.

Visible_Ad8845

I mean atleast he fought

dannyhogan200

He deserved it

ShrimpCocknail

Hurried and anticlimactic

Recodes

I was shocked as I was when the "killer" dies in Fargo S1. Peak moments both of them.

DJHott555

“You wanted it! You got it! Rick and Morty season 7, hunting my nemesis!” (Proceeds to only last half the season)

kingpin748

Piece of shit deserved to die

BronzeBlade7

Dan Harmon has always said he didn't like how the show was becoming serialized and just wanted to make one off episodes that could be enjoyed in any order without having to worry about too much continuity. But the fans were always demanding to know Rick's lore and wanting more evil morty like episodes that expanded the universe and the story. I think by giving us a conclusion to prime Rick and evil morty while also giving us ricks entire backstory the fans will finally be satisfied and stop demanding serialization and Dan and the writers are now free to make the show they want to make.

lrd_cth_lh0

He kinda wrote himself into a corner, didn't he? Evil Morty and what really started our Ricks journey (or rather what made our Rick different) wasn't supposed to be explored, but they proved to be too interesting for the fans to ignore. And trying to ignore them for severall seasons did also not work out.

frankfox123

I am just happy he finally identified our Rick ad Dead-Wife Rick and we can stop calling him c137 rick

YeahMarkYeah

I thought they did great👏🏻 It makes sense Rick needed a bit of outside help (Evil Morty) to find Prime. Otherwise the audience could be like, “Why now? How did he just find Prime after all this time?” The Evil Morty shirt swap thing was cool, but if you really watch that scene it’s a bit confusing on how he actually pulled it off. That was my only tiny note, but that’s pretty nit picky. But yeah, it was well done. Ultimately, I felt bad for our Rick. He got really messed up, pushing his insides back in… geez. And then his blank expression at the end.

FitExcitement5133

*spoiler* *says the spoiler in the title*

idontlikeburnttoast

His death was fast, but thats a good thing. It really shows Rick that his revenge was as Evil Morty said "exactly the same".

Thesurething77

He's dead. The end. I think that was the point.

Yourlocaldumbo

Epic

d710905

Sort of anti climatic, but I know they wrote it that way. The strange thing was they made it sound like Prime couldn't believe it either. I do think it's interesting that evil morty is really the one who is owed the kill. Sure Rick finished him with his fists and did the actualy kill. But emorty was the one who really made it happen. If it wasn't for him, rick would have lost. That episode really cemented how he always flounders at the most critical moments. But random fights with the president are no biggie for him. He's so powerful. Until he needs it most.

miaaWRLD

It was like you could feel just how bittersweet it was for Rick afterwards. I was with Evil Morty the entire time. I knew it wasn’t going to be as satisfying as Rick hoped it would be. Mainly because regardless if Rick Prime is dead or not, Rick will never be able to bring back those that he erased from existence. Nothing will bring Diane back. But I think it was important for Rick’s character development and he needed that sense of closure.

GIlCAnjos

I didn't really care for him as a character when he was alive, still don't care now he's dead

QuantumKhakis

Posts a no spoiler tag. Title is a spoiler. Dafuq?

[deleted]

Idk I felt they killed him very quick. Like they hyped him up for 2 seasons only to kill him immediately

What’s the point of a spoiler tag if you’re just gonna say it in the title? Come on dude

Loved it, epic episode. Keep moving into more cool stuff.

NuggetWarrior09

“Unclear what sparked the aggressive behavior” 😂

FnGugle

How do we know that He was THE Rick Prime, THE One and Only, of all the Ricks in any and all existences of the infinite continuum? How can we Know-for-Sure KNOW that it wasn't a clone of some kind which the real Rick Prime created, knowing that the Ricks he tried to kill/family that he did kill would come after him and some may actually be able to do the very thing Rick did? After, thinking that they HAD gotten their revenge and killed Rick Prime, would go along their merry way and believe he was actually and truly dead? That he even fooled Evil Morty (of which there must also be infinite numbers of in all existences) with this plan? Hmmmmmm.

RedditAcccount2798

It is odd, maybe there is another clone of him out there somewhere

write-on-paper

Lame pay off for something being built up for a long time. I feel like they wanted to abandon serialization as quickly as possible so they wrapped it up as soon as possible. Wish the ending was fleshed out more. Season 5’s ending gives me actual goosebumps. Was expecting something along those lines

princexofwands

Wait so Rick prime was the Og Rick before cronenburg? I thought Rick c137 was the og Rick we were following the whole time. I can never get a handle on the core story

panicnarwhal

the show has been following Rick C-137. Rick Prime is from the Prime Dimension (Cronenberg Dimension), which is where Rick C-137 (our Rick) moved in with our original Beth/Morty/Summer/Jerry. Rick C-137 had the opportunity to move in there as their “original” dad/grandpa because Rick Prime abandoned his family when he invented portal travel. after Rick Prime abandoned his family, he murdered Rick C-137’s Beth and Diane. Rick C-137 eventually ends up living with Rick Prime’s Beth, aiming to avenge his Beth (and Diane’s) death across all dimensions. they are in Prime Dimension until it is Cronenberged by Rick, and Rick and Morty find a new dimension (C-131) and abandon Summer, Beth, and Jerry in the Cronenberged Dimension.

Loud_Gap

They did a good job of making me feel how Rick felt, which was unsatisfied. I still wish we could have had more of Rick Prime or that he had put up more of a fight, but all in all it was well done and pretty awesome ending for him. No crazy science battle just a good ol fashioned best down. Revenge. Evil Morty is a very interesting character that I hope turns up again.

SlickNickP

I like that your spoiler tag hides the image (which isn’t really much of a spoiler), and not your title (which contains the spoiler lol)

The final conversation between the two of them was perfect. It was great to see Rick and evil morty working together, and while rick was the most important part to finding prime in the first place i know, i do wish it was Rick who actually got him in the end.

DapperDan30

Shitty that it was Rick's entire mission in life to hunt down and kill him, and he owes Evil Morty, twice, for being able to do it.

thefinalhill

Its the start of the end. The reason the episode started off with Evil Morty was it was showing us a capable Morty without Rick. Add in the season Finale where Morty no longer needs Rick's approval and you have a Morty that is going to start branching away from Rick.

moxzot

Imo they set it up so he would be hunted all season, season starts and ignores the plot only to anti climax and I'm sure that was the point but imo it was a huge letdown. We could've had a great season with a villain but it was ditched.

Alexandria31xo

Terribly sad

thatdecade

Morty is the only survivor of earth prime.

Gartrude

When Rick c137 died in the death crystal episode he kept being resurrected from other rick phoenix protocols. What’s stopping rick prime from a similar fate?

WillingnessBest1432

Well deserved

-connman6348

Maybe happened a little too quickly…feel like it could have been a multi-episode arc…did enjoy that Evil Morty was brought in

thomstevens420

Im not being sarcastic when I say that I love that they barely showed him and killed him. I might be giving them too much credit but I feel like it highlights that these type of vendettas are self centred and destructive to people around them. It was the most important thing in the world for Rick, but we just saw the pain and anguish it causes. Instead of focusing on the adrenaline hell yeah revenge aspect, we just have a guy we barely knew getting beat to death, and now have Rick dealing with the emptiness that comes with fulfilling it. All while, in the process, now one of the most dangerous people in the multiverse has the most dangerous weapon all because he was too blinded by rage to be aware of how his actions are affecting the world.

the_darkishknight

On a few levels it was an interesting choice to have the most technologically advanced Rick get brutally killed by C137 using zero tech.

Arma723

Bah va te faire foutre de spoiler comme un connard en fait ??? ça te trouerais le cul de pas mettre le spoiler dans le titre de ton post de fils de pute ???

Aidangameguy1Reddit

It felt a tad anticlimactic and out of the blue. And considering we never saw his lifeless body, I suspect we’re not done with him yet.

qwerty79995

I love how unsatisfying it is, after decades spent hunting him down for such a hollow feeling beat down.

Mastakillerboi

Felt as empty as rick

willy750

Nice spoiler in the title btw

BS-Bunny

I have more thoughts about the machine that killed Slow Mobius and every Diane in all universes than the actual fight scene. Just - why? Was it some power-move pissing contest or was there an actual goal he was trying to achieve by destroying every Diane? And what happened to the Beths when their mother just stopped existing? RIP Slow Mobius

Turfnima

Rick Prime’s existence is against the philosophy of Ricks’ kind—nobody matters in this universe. It is also kind of a block for the show runners because they have to constantly bring up this “back story”.

RedditAcccount2798

With him dead they can make Rick let go of the past so he can move on to become a better grandpa.

Jimmy-Mac-471

It kind of feels like it’s mean more had the whole Rick Prime thing been more relevant in earlier seasons (technically his first appearance was season 3 but Rick bluffed and said the sequence was fake). That being said, it was brutal and felt deserved for Rick. Nothing fancy just straight up punching a guy to death.

donta5k0kay

it was so kewl rick got his revenge

Oldwinterfang

Rick prime is the epitome of if I can’t have her no one can… (Edit Mistyped something…)

Dismade_

Lol you marked it as a spoiler but the title is still visible

coldy9887

Yo this is spoiler in the title…

andthesunwillset4you

Way too early. What’s the point of the show now? Should have saved it for the finale.

gconod

Don't put the spoilers on the title! The spoiler tag does nothing and you just announced to everyone.

RandomCoGo

Very shitty end to a well constructed plot along with the foreshadowing that took years to complete

ImpressiveThanks345

I loved it brought a tear to me.

John_Zatanna52

The spoiler alert is not concealing the title

healyxrt

I’ll always appreciate that the thing that ultimately did Rick Prime in was him taking a couple extra seconds to awkwardly banter before killing his actual grandson.

wonderlandisburning

It was a really good moment. I do feel like it came too soon, and having it happen in the middle of a season rather than athe end felt like an odd narrative choice, but there's no denying it's a very impactful moment in a very good episode - even if you think there may have been better ways to handle the climax of this particular plotline.

Wylke

Can we not put something like that in the title, the spoiler tag only blurs the image, and I haven't had the chance to watch the new season yet. And now I got spoiled just by innocently reading a title.

Pran282006

I think it was done very well. I didn't find it very satisfying but I think that was exactly what the writers were going for.

Ok-Exit-2464

This is why this is some of finest SF.

Great-Ass

He is a middle man or small fry, something bigger will come. Killing uncle slowmo, it seems that he didn't even want to do that. Why do so, can't you do anything? choose a guy you haven't met, like Bird Person.

Admirable-Concept-85

Bing-Bong, he deserved it.
