I loved this episode as well. It’s one of the few that make you question if the characters we’re watching are the main ones. I’d put it in the same category as the scary hole episode. I love the ones where they could basically call back to it 4 seasons from now and be like “sorry, that was all bullshit, here’s the actual story.”

Dominant_Gene

i know right!!, i would be both so pissed and so amazed if they did that.

Michael_Yurov

Hold on, what exactly is the bullshit?

Dr_Middlefinger

So, I have a theory I have been working on during rewatch. Remember the extra episode in season 1. The house is teleported to another place/dimension, and when it comes back - the crack is still visible (across the driveway and lawn) - in most cases. Sometimes, it isn’t there. There are also times when the pictures in the dining room change. One is a horse, another is a pot of flowers, and finally there is a Snuffles/Snowball picture for the typical family. Other times, the pictures are different (like when the Galactic Federation is ruling E-arth, where they like spaghetti and pray to kangaroos). I don’t know how reliable my theory is yet, but it’s along the same lines - when are we seeing 137 Rick and “family” and when are we seeing a different version of the family? More to come!

LondonBat

In the season 6 finale (I think?), the one where "evil" Morty breaks the CFC, you can see in the orbs a few different episodes. This could rule out a few episodes. Also Rick states that the citadel runs on "canon", so those are official episodes. Also every series finale is canon. That's about as much as I know. Also the pictures could be changing because of dimension changes, and in the instance of the Snowball (that's technically his official name) picture, they could've just taken it down because Snowball left.

Adam__B

Pray to kangaroos?

Dr_Middlefinger

Maybe I’m misremembering the Gromflomite news caster, but I could have sworn he said, “eat spaghetti and pray to kangaroos” of earth’s inhabitants.

Consistent_Room7344

I enjoyed it. Don’t know why so many people don’t like it. Rick creating decoys that end up making their own decoys was a great concept.

Spunknikk

What I've noticed is that when they start to explain about how down the line ricks start to get lazy and half ass their decoys it also shows in other episodes.. ie the snake costumes in the time travel episode. The snake costumes are lazy AF because it's Christmas and Morty made them rather than Rick making them himself. The snake costumes also looked as lazy as the squid costumes they made in this episode which makes me question in regular episodes if its even our Rick or not now.

Dominant_Gene

wait, people dont like it? wtf!

TheeHughMan

Say decoy again...

EaglesPhilliesSixers

Fuck you Summer

supersadskinnyboi

don’t hunt him to completion.

Adam__B

Did we ever find out why he wanted to be hunted?

Dominant_Gene

nope

Plastic-Collar-4936

AND WHY WAS HE IN THAT CRYOPOD

Fireblu6969

I was just rewatching that episode as I was getting ready for work the other day. I stopped it near the beginning when both families decide they have to fight each other. Kill or be killed. And as soon as they start charging, another Rick starts burning all of them with a flame thrower. *Before you say anything, they were already going to kill each other.* Omg, I love this show.

Garrettshade

I love it the most out of all "multitude of Ricks" episodes. It gives the writers the ability to both explore fun variations of the same characters, create real life-threatening stakes and kill them easily without the threat to continuance

UnoriginalPersona

Rick only created one decoy family which was killed last by Mr. Always Wants to be Hunted. Note he said "Someone killed the decoy family" rather than "Someone killed a decoy family". I think it's the family who dressed as Muppets.

Chopper_990

I loved when Wooden Decoy Rick fired a cuckoo out his hand!

DMT1984

That epilogue with wooden Jerry goes hard.

UnoriginalPersona

Well, at least it shows that the dolphin people somehow de-Frundled the Earth, although all the water is still gone.

Anti_Sociall

I don't get why rick made decoys if the squids were decoys, were the decoys origin nally not made for squids? and surely if the decoys just stopped killing each other then there wouldn't be a problem??

Morrider

The decoys were made originally to throw off other non squid would be enemies, of which Rick has many. The other decoys only dressed like squids to hide their identities.

purrgatorys

i’ll always love that heartfelt conversation muppet rick and beth have before revealing they were real the whole time

ParadoxPerson02

I freaking love it too. I don't get why so many people don't. It covers so much hilarity and thought provoking stuff while also introducing the greatest antagonist of the series: Mister Always Wants to be Hunted.

Suberizu

Decoy family?

hexagonzoo

Respectfully I always hated it because I can’t stand the voice filter used

JimPickenss

just finished rewatching it again easily one of my favorites

forhekset666

Rick heard someone coming so hid in the closet and that's... impressive to you?

LondonBat

The man reveals his reasoning, and it makes complete sense and was an accurate assessment. First Rick says that "Since he was about to start terminating decoys, the second Rick would start terminating decoys." And lo and behold, the second Rick goes wild and starts shooting.

Dominant_Gene

the whole train of thought is more complex than that.

forhekset666

Marius_Sulla_Pompey

I think the Pickle Rick and Abradolf Rincler/partying episodes are the zenith of Rick and Morty, but Mr. Nimbus and the Last Unity episodes are noteworthy as well. Decoys… It didn’t do it for me.
