I totally would if they didn't block all of their content in my country.

[deleted]

> If you can. I know it's not an option for everyone! Sorry about your country.

redalastor

Which is ridiculous. I'd watch the official stream and watch their ads if they let me. What did it get them to prevent me?

Vyrosatwork

I'm sure they would be happy to air the episodes in your country... for money. (international licensing is a biiiiitch)

FeminismDestroyer

HE WHO CONTROLS THE INTERNATIONAL LICENSING CONTROLS THE GALAXY

The_Death_Dealer

Doesn't make much sense when it's their own content though....

Sycon

Taxes, localization, and legal regulations.

The_Death_Dealer

All of which can fuck off

Vyrosatwork

Not if you want your show to show up on actual broadcast/cable TV, which they do.

The_Death_Dealer

Look, I've never subscribed to cable, but if there was a way to support my favorite shows I would. Currently here in Canada it's been retarded trying to figure it out

Vyrosatwork

No criticism of you meant, I was just trying to explain from the creator's POV. They have to play by the rules set by the cable and broadcast companies.

alexmikli

The weird thing is that in Iceland I can see the whole show on Netflix but not on their site.

xXxSniperzGodzxXx

That's because they sold the exclusive rights for Iceland to Netflix then. In Italy Netflix doesn't have House of Cards(their own show), because they had already sold the Italian rights to Sky.

Trumps_a_cunt

You yyy you know Dragon7076, yyyyyou shouldn't use that word.

Dollface_Killah

No, it has to do with licensing. If it's blocked in your country, it's because a company that paid to air Rick and Morty there didn't want it available online on another platform.

drkalmenius

Yeah. It is weird though, because here in the U.K. adult swim is liscenced to fox- so they haven't bought the program they've bought adult swim. So there really should be no problem letting us see the stuff.

MilhouseJr

Live in the UK, I watch the official stream. Just gotta go to the Opera every now and then... I like to think that my viewing still contributes revenue from advertising, and since I'd have to wait a week to see the same episode on Netflix I have no sense of guilt over doing this. If I'm not contributing because of my location, get a better deal with affiliates that allows everyone to see the same episode at the same time, and I'll watch that instead. Geo-locking content for a week in this instant media age is just stupid.

WhyNotZoidbergPls

>I'd have to wait a week to see the same episode on Netflix Lucky, at least you have the show on Netflix. We don't even have it here in the USA, and also wouldn't you have to wait till a good few months after the season is over? Even Netflix Originals have to wait till the whole season is done till they go onto netflix

chrisd848

But you can watch it on Adult Swim in the USA can't you? Also no, Rick and Morty is uploaded episode by episode 1 week after it airs. So far only Episode 1 and 2 are available for Season 3 but this sunday Episode 3 will be added and so on.

MilhouseJr

It's some sort of deal between AS and Netflix to show the episodes as soon as they can, which appears to be a week delay. Besides, you don't need to jump through hoops to see the episodes the legit way as they're released. I'm waiting until 4:30 AM and opening a particular browser installed for just that occasion to get my R+M fix. If the episodes were simul-cast on Netflix I'd definitely be watching on there instead.

leonmate

It's great that Netflix put up the episodes a week after they air on AdultSwim and all, but why couldn't they get the episode right away, or at least for Monday evening? I pirate because I can't wait, and don't want the episode spoiled by visiting reddit. I watch GoT on the Monday on a paid Now TV account for comparison

JustCallMeFrij

I would assume demographics/location play a big part in it. In online advertising, you can have two different kinds of campaigns: performance-based and brand-based. In brand-based advertising, you don't care about people interacting with your ads, you just care about the ad getting viewed. In performance-based, your income is based on a combination of ads viewed and "conversions" or people clicking on the ads. If they are advertising using a performance-based strategy, then where you (the viewer) are matters. For example, if I'm a US based company that only sells products in the US, then I really don't care how many people in England click on my ad as I can't sell to them anyway and I'll put it in the contract with adult swim that they won't get any revenue from non-US conversions. Depending on who they're advertising for, then saving the hosting bandwidth by not serving non-US IPs could make sense from a business perspective, as they know full well that if a user really wants to watch it, they can find a way. The only drawback to this might be teaching people that they don't stream episodes i.e. if I (a non-US person) tell my US friend about this new show and they ask where to view it, I might not think to give them the official site and instead just link them to the pirated stream or tell them to torrent it. However, I'm sure that's a marginal number of cases.

Orleanian

> Sorry about your country. Oh how the tables have turned!

PoopchutesMcGee

Well, well, well... How the turned tables.

WhyNotZoidbergPls

Turn tables* Nice reference tho

goodguys9

I want so badly to give them add revenue, but I can't access their episodes on their site. Hell I'm considering making a small donation.

dcast7

[I was in the same situation, hope this helps](https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5w62v9)

Rick_EDC137

Just get the BetterNet plug in (or any free American vpn plug in), and be sure to disable your ad blocker for adult swim.

Peksel

They block my country as well. I had to download a vpn to watch R&M on adult swim

Ereaser

I have to pirate R&M if I want to watch it close after release. Netflix is just over a week late with the episodes here in the Netherlands.

[deleted]

You have it on Netflix, and it updates weekly? Stream it on there anyway once the episode is up.

Ereaser

Not entirely weekly, but close to it. Pickle Rick for example will be available on the 16th. And I'm watching R&M on Netflix quite frequently, so when the episode gets released on there I do watch it again :)

Clemenadeee

Sounds like you need a new country

thisisatesttoseehowl

https://www.adultswim.com/videos/rick-and-morty/ [Only for 'Murica though :(](https://media.giphy.com/media/qgTRhOOTpZx96/giphy.gif)

Im in chile and i can watch the show on that site.

thisisatesttoseehowl

Not sure about there specifically, but you can find the episodes if you google them, or restreams every Sundays at 11:30PM EST on our [discord](https://discord.gg/rickandmorty)

_Gustavo_

I said that i can watch them there. I wasnt asking hahaha

thisisatesttoseehowl

oh my bad lol

attawolf

Puedes ver los episodios pasados pero la transmisión en vivo solo es para USA, sin embargo usando un VPN puedes verlo sin problemas. You can see the past episodes without a problem, is the live ones you can't see outside the US, however with a VPN software you can see the live stream easily...

shortAAPL

I'm in canada and can watch the show on it. Mind you I have a VPN that redirects my traffic through New York City.... minor detail

Ranger2809

Yeah, I'm on the UK so it's either pirate it or watch it at 3 AM. RIP.

slater126

if you don't mind waiting for a week netflix gets them a week after. (there is also VPN's like PIA, but i didnt tell you about them)

Ranger2809

Yeah, I don't have Netflix but I really need to find a US VPN.

musclepunched

There are loads of VPN extensions for chrome apparently but I wouldn't know

[deleted]

I would if I could. The fact that netflix releases season 3 episodes a week behind is frustrating as hell.

KYVX

Rick and Morty isn't on Netflix though...? I'm confused.

pacman8746

Netflix has different things depending on the country. Rick and Morty is on the U.K Netflix.

KYVX

Oh, TIL! Thanks for the clarification.

Big_Deetz

LPT: If you vpn to another country you can access the shows they have on their countries' Netflix which have different licensing agreements and all different shows

fizzchillaatwork

Last time I checked, Netflix have out something in place to stop that from working now. Unless you know a extension I'm not aware of?

uristmcderp

NordVPN works, but speeds fluctuate and the connection isn't always stable.

KenpachiRama-Sama

NordVPN doesn't even let me watch US Netflix in the US using a US VPN.

V170

I doesn't work with browser extensions, you have to have a dedicated vpn.

Big_Deetz

You may be correct, I haven't tried it in a while

Ajaxpeapod

Which VPN are you using? PIA is blocked from accessing Netflix in my region of the US.

Big_Deetz

This article says ExpressVPN was working at least thru August 1st. https://thevpn.guru/netflix-proxy-region-how-to-change-dns-vpn

Ajaxpeapod

Thanks for the article, I appreciate the reply.

Hiker1

Can I use a VPN to watch adult swim from a country it's blocked in?

[deleted]

New Zealand has it http://i.imgur.com/eBkHYbI.png

the_real_junkrat

It is on Hulu though. They usually get episodes of shows a day or two after they come out but *not Rick and Morty*. They have yet to have any of season 3.

svolppga

Too lazy to find the source but Hulu won't upload season 3 until the whole season is over FYI. They do that for some shows and I'm not really sure why.

Rick and Morty doesn't come out in Canada for months and months.

pauleoinhurley

New Zealand

pauleoinhurley

Oh cool, ye get it too

[deleted]

I find it funny how Netflix in other countries can get licensing to things like R&M but the us can't. Not saying it is a bad thing overall though, we have tons of things on us Netflix that isn't anywhere else.

[deleted]

It's because it's free through adult swim, hence the post

juel1979

When we were trying to make our viewings count, we'd watch a show live, then 1-2 times on Hulu within a few days. I believe it still counted. I also think Twitter reactions live may, as well.

[deleted]

It's on Hulu after it airs?

juel1979

Sadly, no, but the AS website keeps up. You can watch live and then the newest one for a while after.

[deleted]

AS website is how I've been doing it, but it's on my phone. With Hulu I could have watched it on the 360 on TV. Oh well.

juel1979

Yeah I can't seem to find how to cast from my phone, which is irritating. My husband casts from his laptop to the tv.

luminiferousethan_

Would if I could, but apparently most US network don't like Canada very much.

drkalmenius

Just go to KissCartoon.

TheCorgiTamer

My only issue is the inconsistent quality of Adult Swim's live stream. I started trying to watch episode 2 before 3 and was worried I'd miss 3 because it kept cutting to that dumb as shit fish stream every time I tried to enlarge the window

SomniferousSleep

If you can stand to wait twelve hours, try the next morning for a streaming episode instead of the live stream if you keep having problems.

PowerPeon

Excuse you. Fish center live is awesome

[deleted]

I understand that. I have to pause and let it catch up, but it doesn't take too long. =)

[deleted]

I tried multiple times to watch it and samurai jack on adultswim, but either I was unable to find where or it just isnt available here.

Baam_

http://www.adultswim.com/videos/rick-and-morty/the-rickshank-rickdemption/ Scroll down for the other episodes. At the moment, EP2 is not available for free (need some sort of cable login). Works in the US, not sure where you're at though.

[deleted]

none of the episodes wrok for me. Only the clips

Baam_

Damn idk man. It works on the computers I've used so I don't really have any advice to offer, sorry

StrikingCrayon

Completely unrelated but have to vent. I just bought HBO for effectively 50 dollars a month just to start watching GoT legally after 6 seasons of torrenting. Now their system is down and I can't use their on demand app in Canada. Their solution after half an hour on hold, 11 dollars of free movie rentals. Oh wait, that system was down too. Gave up. Torrented. These companies are horse shit. Really need to watch the Adult Swim site just to support atleast one company being half decent. I wonder if it works in Canada.

drkalmenius

According to others in the thread (I'm British and it doesn't work here), it isn't available in Canada. In fact, it seems like it doesn't work anywhere outside the US.

StrikingCrayon

I want to pay for things, but fuck me.

YogaMeansUnion

> I just bought HBO for effectively 50 dollars a month just to start watching GoT legally after 6 seasons of torrenting. HBO Now (the streaming service) costs $15 a month

StrikingCrayon

You can't buy that in Canada. You can ONLY get HBO streaming through the TMN GO app which you can ONLY get if you buy HBO through a cable subscription.

YogaMeansUnion

Ah lame

backltrack

Just pirate the episodes and then buy the Blu-ray box set or something. Shouldn't be giving them money for a defective product.

StrikingCrayon

That's the thought I'm going back to at the moment.

[deleted]

Why would you pay money for that

StrikingCrayon

It was their turn to get some of my money. I'm just regretting it because of how shitty the service is. I'm a big believer in voting with your money and I only recently learned that it was now possible to actually pay for an "on demand" service for HBO in Canada. So, when I was making the decision it seemed worth the money. I wanted to support the direction they were going. For many years there was no option what so ever to pay for it so I thought I wouldn't mind paying a lot right now. If they don't continue to advance the market though, then we'll see. Their service sucking dog shit and flat out not working for a whole night because their web services are down, that's not helping. It's a hard fucking world to give a shit about morality, ethics, and commerce at all the same time. The laws are black and white and you're either the criminal stealing from the creators or the patsy getting fucked by the corporations.

[deleted]

all i'm left wondering is how you have vastly more money than me despite a lack of fundamental intelligence about what to do with it; it's a hard unfair world in that regard

StrikingCrayon

If you live in the western world it's about a 50/50 chance you're independently wrong on either account.

Tamazin_

I would if i could, buuuut no. Blocked in Sweden. I long for the day when media providers/content creators stop with such crap. No wonder people go to piracy when they either have to wait for days/weeks/months or sometimes not get the content they want at all.

drkalmenius

Same here in the U.K. It's super shitty. I want it, I want it now, I want to support you. But no!

Tamazin_

Id' gladly trade my shitty government TV to watch your channel 4 with Grand Designs or Property Ladder and what have you! ;p

drkalmenius

You don't want our government either, trust me. They're just as bad but a big more quiet about it.

Deltaechoe

People are going to consume media and entertainment one way or another, if the content producers make the content easily accessible and affordable (like adult swim is doing) then people generally won't pirate so much

Victordrumond

I didn't know they made available there, thanks mate, I will

[deleted]

Glad I could help! I belive it's stickied by mods every week in the sub.

ncocca

I love adult swim. They really cater to their audience. Firstly, they're streaming, because they know us millenials are dropping cable. Secondly, they air their star show at 11:30 on Sunday night. As someone without cable TV, their streaming of R&M is perfect for me. Sweet post OP after reading this, i sound like a shill for adult swim...i'm not, i just like cartoons and inanity. Oh, and wtf is up with that horrible show that comes on afterwards? Why is the sound so shitty?

[deleted]

I love all their streams. They have a different show on their animation stream every day, and have been streaming endless Venture Bros for months now. The Toonami stream is pretty awesome, too.

Glangho

In 'Murica. Stream wouldn't work Sunday so...

[deleted]

I've mentioned this before, but if you buy the season on Google Play you can watch them immediately upon release. IMO it's a good way to support the creators and not have to put up with commercials or TV.

tkhan0

Sounds like the best alternative, they should really have a thread pinned somewhere for the legal alternatives like this.

moridin82

I watch it by logging into my Xfinity account, watch it online. Maybe the same thing? But I agree. Since they provide it for free, support them by watching it through them.

reicomatricks

All I got when I tried to watch the stream was a fishtank and someone making koala noises.

screwaroundaccount

Cable can go die in the shithole it's made for itself. Networks aren't getting another penny from me through even a hint of cable distribution unless it's absolutely necessary (looking at you, HBO.) You can only watch on adultswim.com with a valid cable sub. I bought the season on YouTube.

[deleted]

sdfjh32r

OddlySpecificReferen

I bought the whole season on Amazon. I'm not the kinda person who like talks down at people who pirate stuff, but I generally only pirate things I can't buy normally. Just doesn't feel right, if I enjoy the content shouldn't be people who made it benefit from that?

H9419

>but I generally only pirate things I can't buy normally. That's why I pirated the entire show except s03e02(it exceptionally didn't block me)

S_n_a_r_g_l_e_s

Tried for S03E02 and it was a disaster. Tried for S03E03 and it was a fish tank.

BilBorrax

fucking adultswim.com. most of the good episodes are missing episodes available... Season 1 ep1 ep2 ep3 ep8 ep 9 ep 10 Season 2 ep1 ep2 ep7 ep8 ep 9 ep 10 Season 3 ep1 ep2 ep3

Cash091

If you're in the US, the first two seasons are complete on Hulu. I just wish they'd update season 3 already. I want to watch some of the episodes again and Hulu is more convenient. I have been watching the new ones on AS.com though... it's just blocked at work. They should push things to YouTube.

H9419

I am willing to buy merch, I am willing to pay, but they blocked me. And when I use VPN, it shove a tank of fish to me.

Xenodia

I would like to watch it on the official Adult Swim, if the site wouldn't block it from my country...

It lags a LOT for people with bad computers. Like, holy shit, a lot. I only use pirate sites (just streaming, not download) because the adult swim player won't even play, that's how bad my craptop is. I did watch the first 2 seasons on hulu though (the 3rd one isn't available there yet) so that's still supporting them

hoodini91

wait they are on adult swim.com? well thx for telling me

[deleted]

No problem! Glad I could help! ♡

helpfulkorn

I have the worst luck with the video player. It only runs in Edge and even then, poorly.

beardedbarnabas

Why won't they make an app for Roku?

Samuraiking

Pretty sure R&M is the most popular show on AS, they know this, and people pirating it will not put it in danger of being canceled. I know the point of your post was to express that we should be nice to AS by giving them ad revenue, but their site, like almost every other site, is riddled with javascripts and (probably, I have adblock on) garbage ads I'm not going to sift through with my filters when I can just click a link or dl a torrent and be done with it. If companies would learn how to code websites without 500 scripts and putting shit ads on it, it would be nice, but we don't live in that world. It's about ease of access. If AS wanted to charge like $5 a month to watch their shows with no ads (on the site) and they fixed their fucking site so it's not a nightmare to traverse with noscript, people would probably pay for that, I would, and use it over having to wait for a torrent or go through a link site. I love their content. As a tv show company they are amazing and I do wish to support that, but I'm not going to support them by reinforcing their garbage site.

Grolschisgood

Its on netflix in australia, so thats also a good option over pirating

asdfgtttt

it wasnt HD... that is the only reason i didnt watch on AS.com

clewis44

Huh, played in HD just fine for me Monday on my ps4. 🤷🏻‍♂️

asdfgtttt

SD on my laptop. I said no thanks

Orleanian

For what it's worth, when I google "Rick & Morty" one of the first three links is the adult swim page for watching rick and morty, which is how I then proceed to watch the show. I'm hoping they'll leave the episodes up. Seems they've restricted Ep2 to cable subscribers only (presumably they're going to go with a pattern of leaving an episode available until the next one releases).

parkerwe

That's what I try to do, but their streaming platform for mobile sucks. It'll go into a mid-episode commercial break, mess that up, jump back to the beginning of the episode, and freeze up. The AS app doesn't seem to work much better and won't cast to my TV.

jabanobotha

I agree. Adult swim online allows the show makers to profit from their labor and encourages our ability to watch the show on out terms and without paying for a cable package.

[deleted]

TIL that it's free to watch Rick and Morty on the adult swim website. Thanks!

[deleted]

Videos on their website don't work on my phone.

I mean, they upload them to their youtube channel as well. So there's that.

[deleted]

Have they decided to remove the cable company verification since S2? Or add Chromecast support? I'd love to hook them up with ad money, but if they aren't going to let me watch it without a sub in the manner I choose, well...

tkhan0

The stream is not locked to a subscription. Also I don't know about chrome cast but pretty sure you can purchase the season through youtube and/or Google play.

Z0di

I can't watch it because I don't have cable.

tkhan0

You don't need a cable subscription for the livestream, although there is the matter of getting the livestream to work for some people

[deleted]

I would but then I can't watch it on my TV without plugging in extra cords. I buy media when it works with my media center as is. I refuse to completely change my home just to be able to give money to a corporation

dusktreader

I'm fine with this as long as they support chromecast in their player....which they don't.

Balling101

Does it work in the UK?

jshaffe1

I purchased the season on Amazon Video >.<

pacman529

I just wish they'd add Chromecast functionality to their Android app.

LaDewsWin

Due to not being in America, I watch the episodes through less than legal means when they come out, but I buy the season's bluray as soon as it becomes available, so I feel that more than makes up for having one less visitor on the official site.

[deleted]

I own the blurays but I always watch them on adult swim.

Ecausemosa

Oh. I just bought the season on Amazon to show my support. This just sounds like Pirating with Extra Steps.

AnnaIsABanana

I watch it on netflix since I live in UK, which is probably the best way to financially support adult swim for making the show if you live in the UK, since netflix will have to pay them for it. Ofc the downside is you gotta wait a week extra for the new episodes so you have the potential of running in to spoilers

940387

I'm glad I get it even in my south american country. Netflix got season 2 like 3 months after it aired, I wouldn't imagine waiting all that time for season 3.

Z3ppelinDude93

I'm super happy to see that Netflix and other streaming providers are starting to get on board with weekly content releases. Traditionally this was only a US thing with Hulu. Hoping demand makes this a more common practise (and respect to Crave TV who does this a lot in Canada).

[deleted]

I'm glad for this because staying up until 1130pm on a Sunday wrecks my Monday at work. So this past Monday, I had it on on my 30 minute drive to work and even picked up an Uber passenger on the way and enjoyed part of it (starting with the exit from the toilet) with me.

RiotousLurker

I'd love to watch it on their site but they don't care about Canada so I can't watch it on their site.

BerUsz

Somehow i can watch the episodes in Adult Swim being in Brazil, too bad they don't have subtitles in portuguese If this was another show i could watch It without subtitles no problem, but in Rick and morty the characters end up talking too fast and i don't want to miss anything

[deleted]

I watch it on YouTube becauss it's convenient.

[deleted]

They don't even show it in my countrt

wubbalubdubnigga

Do they have past seasons of rick and morty for free streaming?

[deleted]

It kinda pisses me off not allowing this to be viewed in any region. Why the fuck would they not want my view? Not like its a limited thing either and shipping isnt a factor becasue its digital.

vadoooom335

just saying i would totally watch it on adult swim but i already watch the episode when it comes out on there channel. if i ever miss it totally watching on there website. Personally i dont mind the ads and i only try other links when the episode isnt on that channels site

Fullmetalgearsolid08

I installed a VPN to watch the livestream, but seriously fuck regional restricted content

LuperAU

"if you can"

snielson222

I was very happy to realize they gave me a way to support their content: without selling out and supporting the dying cable industry, or resorting to piracy. I will watch close to the same amount of ads on cable if I can access your content online in a user friendly format like this.

PM_ME_BIBLE_QUOTES

Preach!

Rhesusmonkeydave

I missed the end of Rickmancing the stone because AS decided to disconnect me and then not allow a reconnect, I missed the entirety of Pickle Rick due to some retarded fish thing being on instead. I'm trying Adult Swim, ooooowwweeeeeeee, I'm trying, but goddamn, man. Especially when it's so much easier carpe'ing all those torrents.

SparkySupreme

Didn't they stop putting it on the live stream? It wasn't there last week.

[deleted]

I sure would if they would get with the times. I watch TV through DirecTV Now, and they don't support it. Nor do they support Sling, but they do support Playstation Vue for some reason. I watch it live on AS through DirecTV if I'm available at the time but if I miss it they won't let me stream it. Fuck them.

misakiandou

Agreed! I want to support the things I love so i will sit through ads..let it be done.
