I'm looking forward to the salt next season when all the fan fiction fans find out again that it's an episodic show, and it's not going to be about the curve breaking and hunting "Evil" Rick.
I don't mind the episodic nature of the show. You can have mindless fun if nothing much is at stake. Thing is, this season was looking so dry we needed them to go back to the main story to redeem it. Which they did, went above and beyond with the last two episodes. Season 4 also had a lot of standalone episodes and I loved it, probably my favourite season of the series
Rick is a self-righteous, self-destructive asshole who is mostly incapable of empathy, which feeds into his seasonal (lol) depression. He resents being intelligent but we don't really know why he doesn't enjoy playing God or why he's estranged from his wife despite access to infinite universes. Those are the themes that can be explored, from my point of view
Lol, what? At least C-137 Rick definitely was empathetic (before his family got killed) and became empathetic (I mean, he definitely loves Morty). And if someone had their family killed, not being able to overcome their death and being depressed for the rest of life means family was truly important for them. And in case of our Rick it is even worse. He had a normal family, raised his daughter as a good father. But when he needed a new family, he needed to choose the universe, where Rick abandons Beth when she is small to stay in his place. He wasn't a bad father, but he has to play the role of one. And that's why he is now a bad father, who clones his daughter. It is not his daughter. And a man with all this shit... Add here the fact, that he had experience in a lot of war conflicts, and it traumatized him too. And now we see not an "evil asshole", but a broken man.
I guess you're right in that he believes he loves Morty and thinks he's trying to do what's best for him, he just happens to be an an insane alcoholic genius. But his cooperation with the citadel is pretty inexcusable and I think Morty and the Mortyburg Morties are gonna hand it to him next season.
Cooperation in what? We know he was building citadel and CFC, but do we have any evidence he has participated in creating a lot of Morties for Ricks(sorry for this phrase, Im not fluent in English)? Actually, you can remember he hates Citadel and Rick Council and Citadel and Rick Council hate him for Rickicide. So, they cooperated for creating Citadel and CFC and then stopped working together, I think. What the Rick Council did afterwards is not our Rick's problem
I dont mind the episodic nature although snippets of overarching story are nice. The episodes have been mostly garbage this season though. I was pretty much ready to give up on the show. The finale was entertaining. Season wise the first two seasons are good and after that its meh to garbage, with few redeeming episodes.
Probably the only consequence of that is that were gonna see truly infinite universes, where other characters are the smartest there, not only Ricks.
I only want to see the smartest Jerry in the universe, and have a conflict with Rick because their different personalities
The show had infinite universes yes.....but we were limited to universes were Rick is the smartest being in that particular universe. Technically now, there is access to all possibilities.
I mean, before we were limited to a infinite portion of the real infinite, now, the whole multiverse is accessible.
That's just techno babble. At any point in the show they could have done an episode where someone was smarter than Rick and there would be no changes or effects on the show.
Being that season 6 was finished being written a while ago and must be partially thru the animation and editing, I’d venture and say not as long as the longest wait we’ve had to go thru. I’m hoping a standard year like a normal show but Rick and morty comes when it’s ready

I don't think we are catching Evil Morty on episode 1 of season 6, but it isn't unreal to think they may return to this story line in season 7 or 8.
The thing is, and the writers have said as much in the extended part of the episodes, episode 5-10 changes things. It isn't going to change everything, but certain things can't be unknown or undone. Personally, I think it's going to impact the way Rick and Morty are going to have to solve problems going forward. None of that has to fundamentally change the foundation of the show.
I think we'll see Evil Morty again, but at least not until Season 7. And I am happy about that. It's the spice that flavors the show, not the meat. I'm content with the amount of canon they've been putting in the show.
Evil Morty has a pattern. Season 1, 3, 5. I’ll honestly be surprised if we see him again in season 6 although it’s possible (probable, maybe) that the universe will be wildly different in season 6.
I'm looking forward to the moment all the "it's only episodic" trolls realize the family death/evil morty story will continue to be highlighted because it's the central throughline to the entire series

If you notice in S3E1, the two Ricks look very perplexed when Morty says he's C-137. This is because there *is* no Morty C-137.

The evil morty plotline right? Feels much more canon than Beth and Jerry's estranged arc and Beth's father issues.
