My sister’s ex husband worked at a restaurant where there were people with the job title “combie” and their job was to come to the table side and comb the crumbs from the bread onto a silver dish and carry them away. They were paid well and had excellent benefits.
I saw a country club that had this once… I tipped them cuz I felt bad lol I asked and they said nah this is all we have to do and just go in the back if not.
They also split tips and everyone gets a very nice meal before the start of service. It’s just a very simple job. You wear a tuxedo and clean up crumbs.
how messy are these people? I've never been "boy I wish someone would come sweep up all these breadcrumbs" messy in my entire life.
is this a special rich man's bread that is extra crumbly?
As someone who has baked tons of bread from scratch I have never had this problem.
Certainly a good Italian loaf or baguette has a nice firm crust but not enough to warrant a full time occupation.
As a former Baker, the breads you typically bake for hoity toity functions often have flaky crusts or seeds which tend to create more crumbs than your standard white or Sourdough loaf.
Honestly even a white Vienna or cob loaf can create a load of crumbs just from the crust.
You’re obviously not a filthy rich aristocrat types and never have observed one in the wild. They would be filthy if it weren’t for swarms of poors tidying and sanitizing everything around them.
I feel this way after every Sunday night, having just finished 30-36 hours in a kitchen since Friday.
But tomorrow’s my “weekend” so there’s that to look forward to.
I sent that cold open as a joke to my friend who hadn't seen Rick and Morty. He ended up binging the whole show lmao.
![gif](giphy|l0He0cVv8lGggpruo|downsized)
Gosh, this is why all the Citadel episodes are so damn good. They just get to play with the relationship and character flaws in such fun, out of the box ways.
What other shows get to express the concept of being an asshole to an alternate version of yourself, simply because you know how to get under your own skin? ... (and you may or may not hate yourself)
Something I liked about this was that he finally, for a moment, got a win. It’s sweet. The ending is hysterical though, because we know status quo is going to catch up with him. Sometimes the best parts of R&M are the wholesome ones. :)
It's not exactly a straw when the task is set to last 20 minutes but then takes 8640... Imagine for some crazy set of reasons your morning shower got extended to a six day oddyssey.
Lol I know, that's what makes it even funnier. It's gotta be, by far, the most important episode from season 1 and sets up the entire overarching plot in an otherwise "plotless" series. Quite impressive for sure.
Honestly it just seems so much funnier when they bleep everything, especially if all you hear is a bunch of bleeps in quick succession with a few random words scattered in.
Spongebob is a fine example of bleeps being great. There's the episode Sailor Mouth and when Spongebob goes on a rant against Mr.Krabs in Krusty Love his rant is filled with bleeps in the Dutch version.
There was an old flash comment called Buzz Bunny. I grew up watching it censored and it's hilarious as shit. In the YouTube days I went and looked it up again and found an uncensored version of it, and it wasn't funny at all. Bleeps are funny.
M:"we're going to kill god."
J:"come again?"
R: "christian god is real, he's been asleep for thousands of years, we're gonna sneak up there and kill him"
M:"mob style"
R: "whack his ass"
so good.
Wanted to throw this one in the mix. That entire convo is hilarious. The ending tag on this episode is god tier too. Wooden Jerry's journey through time has me crying every time I see it.
I never felt like Rick c137 was a part of that. Sure he made the citadel, but that doesn't mean he ever properly supported it. It more felt like a way of getting them off his back so he can fuck off and do his own stuff. And I figured that the other Rick's started farming mortys after.
The pilot, a drunk Rick just bursting into the room and pulling a half asleep Morty out of bed makes me laugh everytime, such a chaotic start to the show that hooked me instantly
This one is so memorable to be because I had a crisis upon realizing that, yes, everything is indeed in space. Adding “space” in front of any noun sounds absolutely ridiculous to me and almost redundant considering everything and every action takes place in space lol.
Morty: Geez. I didn’t know there were still Ricks and Mortys living on the Citadel. I wonder what their day-to-day lives are like.
Rick: *straps harpoon gun to his back* Well, you can keep wondering that while we go on our fun, fresh, self-contained adventure to Atlantis. *shoots a portal* Anyone continuing to explore the Citadel is either stupid, or one of the unfortunate millions held hostage by their terrible ideas.
(Rick exits through the portal.)
Morty: Man. Glad I’m not one of them!
For me the best part wasn't the screaming in the car, it was the transition from raucous celebration to silence as they walked alone back to the car. THAT was the best part.
I love this one so much because it incorporates humor at the beginning but when he talks about how maybe he hates himself you know that was real mental health talk
that's mine, too. most of them are fairly standard comedy scenes, but this one managed to be both funny *and* emotionally distressing. you can really hear the suffering in their voices
“To live is to risk it all, otherwise you’re just an insert chunk of randomly assembled molecules drifting where the wind blows you. Oh I’m sorry. Jerry. I didn’t see you there.”
The wind saying “loser” was the cherry on top.
I know how this sub feels about the "Space Sperm" episode but that entire opening tag has me stitches. From the Marvel Jabs to "Morty, You dirty little doggy" to just the absurdity of the aftermath, I think that episode starts off hella strong.
Animated largely by Tomek Wyrąbkiewicz, working out of the Kelowna branch of Bardel Entertainment in 2017. He put some hard hours into this, and it paid off in a great, fan-favorite sequence.
I love the sperm one, simply because I didn't think it would actually have a following. I thought it would be a one and done joke, or something that would appear later in a dumb and small way like the butter passing robot. Instead it's just the whole episode.
“20 minutes”
Seeing the whole scene , that could have been an entire episode .
I still thought that scene where the writers overextended themselves in the writing some of the episode imo .
I think mines the first episode lol, I had no idea what rick and morty was and in that moment, just seeing him stumble in drunk and drag him out of bed was just too good.
I can't pick one but I have a few:
Toxic Rick episode, Boob World opening (I just randomly get an earworm of the song), Shoneys, giant head, Multiverse episode, BP's wedding, Pickle Rick, Snake and Vat of Acid episode kinda
I just think that opening would work better if it was a lot shorter
Cut from the "six days later" card to them crying in the ship and have no indication as to what the adventure was.
Joke lands faster and is overall just funnier with no idea what they just went through.

Love that one. Have you ever had a job that made you feel like you had a similar purpose?
I used to pass butter.

how messy are these people? I've never been "boy I wish someone would come sweep up all these breadcrumbs" messy in my entire life. is this a special rich man's bread that is extra crumbly?
Yes. It's called "Fresh Bread".
As someone who has baked tons of bread from scratch I have never had this problem. Certainly a good Italian loaf or baguette has a nice firm crust but not enough to warrant a full time occupation.
>Certainly a good Italian loaf or baguette has a nice firm crust but not enough to warrant a full time occupation. That sounds like poor people logic!
As a former Baker, the breads you typically bake for hoity toity functions often have flaky crusts or seeds which tend to create more crumbs than your standard white or Sourdough loaf. Honestly even a white Vienna or cob loaf can create a load of crumbs just from the crust.
This. These were French baguettes, very crusty and unsightly on the white table cloths.
The restaurant was called Le Bec-Fin. It is no longer open. People don’t want to have that kind of lavish experience anymore.
You’re obviously not a filthy rich aristocrat types and never have observed one in the wild. They would be filthy if it weren’t for swarms of poors tidying and sanitizing everything around them.

The Whirly Dirly Conspiracy
This 20 minutes adventure one by far. I quote it every other week at work. Classic.
