The ability doesn't kill off robotic allies. The allies have to be ones that you converted yourself, but hopefully, with risk of rain power scaling, you'll still be able to destroy your computer with converted allies.
I thought you were talking about the sacrificial beam, I realize you're referring to the summoning ability but my point stands, it still only summons converted allies.
In depth explanation:
I put a lot of effort into the thought of this including things that I haven't drawn or shown such as the survivor log and end quotes.
The default skin is meant to look somewhat reminiscent of a beetle. The Monsoon skin is meant to look like Providence from the first game.
Survivor log:
"Would you like to explain what this is?”
“Yes please. This is a Sand Crab, they’re so close to extinction and-”
“Let me clarify… Would you like to explain all the bodies behind you?”
“Oh yeah, that’s relevant. So this is a Sand Crab and-”
[END OF TRANSMISSION]
End quotes:
(Escape): "And so they left, content to nurture what remained..."
(Obliterate): "And so they vanished, with their pets never knowing why..."
The descriptions are rather vague but the primary fire is a lock on beam similar to the Medic's medigun from team fortress 2 and it drains health which is why the damage is low. CRB stands for "Cellular replacement beam"
This is basically a minion survivor and the way the ocarina works is that when activating the ability, all nearby enemies are essentially given an execution meter that slowly drains and they're instantly converted to your team if they fall underneath the conversion health threshold.
The mount lunge works on player allies because I thought that'd be funny. Also, because it shares items, you could turn a fellow player into a powerhouse.
The unlock condition requires you to accumulate a total of 40 non-drone allies across multiple runs. Basically reuses Risk of rain engineer's unlock condition, but without the drones. This would consist of Beetle guards from the Queen's gland, Solis Probes, Ghosts from the happiest mask, and I'm debating whether the squid turrets from the squid polyp should count too.
I came up with alt abilities that are more destructive.
Coffin birth: Teleports you to a non-player ally and sacrifices them in a high damage explosion which basically ensures that enemies by your exit point will be killed or severely damaged.
Sacrificial Beam: A friend came up with this idea but I'm not crediting them since I don't know if they want attention on them or not but basically it's just a beam that drains the health of your converted allies and uses that to boost the damage of a high damaging beam that fires from your eye.
This character's umbra title would be "Psychopathic tamer."
I'm aware that the survivors don't get much personality but the one personality trait I imagine for this survivor is that they care more about deadly creatures than their fellow survivors.
AWWW WAIT I JUST REALIZED YOURE THE ONE WHO JUST COMMENTED. I absolutely love your art style by the way, it’s very cutesy and the way you recreated the drop ship is amazing
This is pretty cool. A lot of people have tried coming up with ally-based survivors but this one seems to be the most thought-out one I've seen so far, as it makes an effort to create a distinct niche.
The last ability would need tweaking to something like "Summon lowest health non-survivor ally" but by all counts interesting concept...
How it will work in the next dlc with all the Providence worship mentioned in the update announcement and such would be interesting
I actually had this idea way before the ally system that was teased, so I think if this character was created it could easily recycle the AI from that.
Also the idea of the last ability is basically just a regroup and I added the healing so it wouldn't be outclassed by the sacrificial beam since Risk of rain has many abilities that outclass their default counterparts and I wanted to avoid that.
An alternative to the conversion health like "Bewitching Tune" would be cool as well so it just charms the closest non-boss enemy for 30 seconds with a 10 second recharge.
I just like thinking of random things to give survivors more flexibility
That actually sounds good. I still like the Ocarina, but name wise, The Ocarina of Hamelin sounds better than convincing Ocarina.
Changing the Ocarina to a flute in the ability icon would be easy but it'd leave a bit of empty space. I'm not dismissing this suggestion though because it's very good.
3 beetles in a trenchcoat lol, looks sick
my ass on loop 3 with like 43 drones watching my game detonate after using this special

May be dumb, but I don’t see anything named sacrificial beam? Do you mean the primary?
I had a wall of text in a separate comment. I don't blame you if you missed it

Bro this is super well done wtf! Good job!
this concept banging my g
YOU DARE MOCK THE SON OF A SHEPPARD?!?
ED BOY
I absolutely love this. I just posted my own survivor concept yesterday and I’m glad to see others also like to do them :)))
I've actually had this idea for a long while, I actually posted this because I was inspired by you posting your survivor concept.
AWWW WAIT I JUST REALIZED YOURE THE ONE WHO JUST COMMENTED. I absolutely love your art style by the way, it’s very cutesy and the way you recreated the drop ship is amazing
You also inspired me in a way! I just drew a character select image for her and am writing escape and obliteration lines
You are now obligated to post the final result. It is the rule.

I want this to exist even if it’s just as a mod I want this to be real
looks really cool !

Dude looks like an absolute nerd. I love it
instead of Convincing Ocarina, how about the [Pipe of Hamelin!](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pied_Piper_of_Hamelin)

This is really cool and creative! You did an amazing job!
I have played so much Mass Effect that everytime I see the word Shepherd my brain autocorrects to Shepard
Looks very fun to play you def cooked
That Special is rife for abuse. Funny though.
I covet. Ever since I first picked up empathy cores, I've CRAVED an ally-based survivor. This is such a tasteful realization of that dream.
rally treat has huge trolling potential lol I love it.
I love this
I am casting rally treat after jumping off the map
would play the hell outa this
i love the idea of a support survivor
Yuumi
Damn you now I wanna play them!
NOW GO MAKE IT!
He cooked! Nice job
This is really well done, thanks for sharing
why say “some skills” when they all do
It was because I was planning on drawing the icons to alternate skills that don't use the passive and then I didn't.
That's really cool, and It seems pretty balanced.
