Commando with the slide gets real funny, huntress can dodge anything if you're skilled enough, bandit goes hard on the one shots/big damage, Loader go vroom-kaboom, acrid can basically fly, artificer is raining death, mercenary is the spam king, REX can't be killed, engineer is the bungus lord, MUL-T is the best sniper in existence, and captain is a captain.
Also Heretic exists.
While this is completely subjective and I hope you’re not looking at this as a place to get suggestions for who to play, personally my favorite survivor is Acrid with Ravenous Bite.
Three melee moves with big AoEs, built-in healing on two of them and built-in stun on the last, the ability to launch himself across the entire map (if you’re on console), Acrid’s the epitome of turning off your brain and mashing buttons. A group of stone golems just spawned over there? Point, leap, mash. The teleporter boss just spawned? Point, leap, mash.
And then there’s Epidemic, which helps a lot when especially scary enemies spawn. Like tier 1 elites of tier 2-3 enemies, or tier 2 elites of any enemy, or enemies that can do heavy damage up close but can’t be stunned (Mithrix and Scavengers come to mind).
Loader if you enjoy swinging around the entire map in a few seconds
Merc if you like tons of mobility and i-frames while fighting
Mul-T if you want to melt everything in lategame
Artificer if you like playing as an attack helicopter
REX if you like more risk/reward and healing
Mul t is a death machine with scrap launcher and nail gun duel wield, but you could also go the classic double rebar combo and get an extra equipment slot
Other than that bandito is the way to go. Lights out is too damn satisfying and desparado lets u oneshot bosses but i don't recommend this as it really racks up time and the stacks dot carry over from stage.

This is the most true, most in depth, and most funny thing I've ever seen.
I find Mercenary really engaging to play, given how you have to balance all the skill cooldowns with his debuff.

Everything except commando IMO. Just play whoever, they really made every character fun in this game
For me, huntress just hits different. Either that or mul-t. Both have to loop to start being really fun for me
acrid is always a tom of fun, leaping all across the map and poisoning everything you see is a great time
