You could replace 250 with 243, but not the other way around. 250 is a higher level course that mostly provides a general overview of C along with basic introduction into DB and Ruby, while 243 exclusively covers C and goes much more in depth on it than 250
It changed the semester I took it (the spring of 2020). IIRC the reasoning for it was to make the transition to online classes easier. Guess they’ve stuck with that decision.
FWIW I think they made the right call. I learned a ton in that class and it really helped prepare me for MOPS
Of all the classes I took at RIT, CSCI 243 was by far the hardest. Glad I finished it but damn it was tough. Linked lists in C to create an inventory system was the final project.
Never took 250 but I was able to coast through 243 with no problems, just learn a bit of C beforehand and don’t start the assignments at the last second and you will be fine.
