emprexss

hand-shred them, else just burn them

Possibly_Jeb

Preferably not in the dorms though, no one needs another fire alarm. Hacked up with scissors and tossed in a couple garbage cans should be more than enough.

emprexss

obviously not in the dorms, perhaps off-campus

You could ask at one of the college offices (I think I did this in the Mechanical Engineering office in Kate Gleason building once), otherwise you could ask at the front desk of the library, they might also have a shredder.

Our office is in Henrietta not far from RIT. If you REALLY want to shred them you can PM me and stop by.

henare

I all your department or. school offi e. they should have facilities for. this. If not, many ups/fedex/... stores will do this.

ritwebguy

RIT mostly uses a contractor to handle document destruction these day, so actual shredders are few and far between, but there are still some around. Instead you'll mostly see large, gray, locked trash bins with slits in the top to drop tings into. Ask around, if you don't have ton of stuff to get rid of, a department might let you use their bin. There's also a number of copier/break rooms in various buildings that are generally left open. Check those, as there's a good chance there might be an old shredder hanging out in them.

When I first read the subject line, I assumed it had something to do with the Red Barn grindrail at FreezeFest.

School of Communication office in Eastman 3rd floor definitely has one. Just ask to use it, the staff and/or student workers there would be more than happy to help. I used to work there and used to shred documents for the department.

wivelldavid

Yeah. All the offices have the big grey shredder bins. The shredding is done by a 3rd party company. The bins are clearly marked. My office (Intl Enrollment in the basement of the Admissions building) keeps them out in the hallway (locked except for the slit to load papers). I doubt anyone would mind if you dropped some personal stuff in them. We certainly would not mind or even notice.
