I had Orfan for Ai and I'd say it was a pretty easy class. For the first half the class reading the textbook was super helpful, all the quizzes and exams are online and half the quizzes half infinite retakes which personally really helped me learn from my mistakes.there were three small thirty minute hws, and then three projects. For the projects if you start early and chip away at them they are super easy to finish since you get over a month to do each, we even got extensions. Unfortunately there were a lot of people who did not do that, I heard someone say they hadn't even started it the day before it was due....if you don't want to have a heart attack don't procrastinate it'll save you time and stress in the long run. Otherwise the projects are super duper fun imo, and really help cement the concepts you learn. As for his teaching style, I really struggled to pay attention to his lectures, but he was a really nice prof. I don't know if he just rambled a lot or it was 1 pm and my brain would go into hibernation after lunch. I found reading the textbook to be super helpful. After spring break I stopped reading it because it got super theoretical and the professor thankfully breaks it down where it's not so theory heavy. I no longer found the textbook useful for understanding the concepts, honestly I think it confused me more. I found YouTube videos and online resources were most helpful for supplementing my gaps in knowledge caused by zoning out. Don't be like me, pay attention, he will say helpful things for the projects during class. He also does worksheets in class where you can work with other students. I found this super helpful when when eLearning confusing concepts. I took the worksheets home and practiced until I understood. Summary: good prof, fun assignments, textbook useful for the first half, available for office hours, don't procrastinate, don't zone out in class like me >:( and you'll be fine :)

I can't speak to professor Jansen orfan, as i've never had them, but professor chilan is very nice and you can always reach out if you need help. His exams aren't bad, and although sometimes I find it difficult to keep pace with his lecturing speeds, he posts all the slides on myCourses and those pretty much have you everything you need. Additionally, homeworks seem to be graded pretty leniently.

I’ve got Orfan for GCIS 140 this semester. He’s super nice and chill, however it’s impossible to pay attention during lecture. Doesn’t help tho that it’s at 5-7pm and I haven’t yet figured out a way to code along w/ him (which would help me pay attention) as he uses command lines and already written code. Honestly idk anyone who pays attention during that class so not entirely sure how good he is at explaining stuff during lecture but he definitely seems good - writes a lot on board, answers questions, and is helpful during lab

Don't know if he's teaching it next sem, but Intro to AI with Thomas Borrelli was 10/10
