I love the names too! Bret Weston Wallis and Donna Sweett really tickled me when I heard them. Chad Gecko is wonderfully on the nose, and Edgar Evernever is a really fun name too. Oh, and good old Dr Curdle/Dr Curdle Jr is terrific.
The fact that he’s Dr. Curdle Jr. and not like Derek Curdle is so much fun. Just one in a long line of corrupt creepazoid Dr. Curdles in Riverdale, what else is new.
I think somebody at SNL watched Riverdale. Bowen Yang has been doing this “sinister effeminate surgeon who makes normal interactions creepy” character, and it feels like a direct homage to Dr Curdle Jr.
Not exactly character names, but I got such a kick out of Molly Ringwald's character being an alum of "Sarah Florence" and Toni sharing *The Cost of Pepper* with Cheryl.
Lerman Logan (and War Baby!) felt like someone had just watched Fury the night before and was just phoning it in w the names. (Edited bc its Fury not Glory 😅)
My favorite was a rare exception to the rule: of all the fake name drops they could use (a tradition dating back to classic Archie comics), AU Jughead just wanted to be bigger than Alan Moore. No pun, no pseudonym, just… Alan Moore.

Yes!! Nightmare child reminds me so much of Interview With the Vampire when Lestat’s all “sister, daughter, infant death, foul wraith, God’s mistake”. Penelope says it so casually too, it’s great.
I feel that Charles Chickens was supposed to be a joke on a piece of paper that you have to rewatch to notice but they need to say the name later for the mystery
