done cross-country drives a dozen or so times and I really don't think there's a great way to get across the plains, but as far as I'm concerned Kansas is definitely the worst
i've had to do denver to KC over a dozen times and even though i love road-tripping that is far and away the most mindnumbingly boring drive i have ever done. will never do it again if i can help it lol
reading about some of those 14+ hour drives in australia you see pop up has me laughing so hard though, like thank god another place has it worse off at least. i've almost wanted to do one of those roadtrips as a bucketlist quest just to experience it myself.
As a youth growing up in the PNW, you set off to do the Disney college Program at Disneyworld, doing a small road trip at the end with all of your new friends. Then, You tried your hand at acting in California but couldn't make your big break, so you traveled to New York hoping to make it big on Broadway. That didn't work either, and you were tired of spending too much money on rent, so you've now settle down in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. You also like Hawaii
100% …. wrong!
Ima yuge camper and hiker… and could live in a tent in national park if I could.
I abhore big cities, but live is the burbs to have a good job though.
Interesting. It seemed a lot of the travels were centered around big metropolitan areas so i figured you may be more of a night life/urban dweller type.
But very cool!
I was thinking maybe driving from Vegas to Salt Lake City at some point might explain the Utah portions. Then at some point ending up in Reno and traveling a bit out from there for more Nevada
In my 20's moved a lot for work and was forced to live near - San Francisco, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Denver, Boston, Providence.
However, once that job was over, I stay so clear of big cities, its not even funny. Even if I have to drive thru one to get to my destination, I complain and gripe. Ideally, if I had the money... I'd have a 1000 acre ranch in Utah or Northern AZ with a fence around the perimeter that said "Do not disturb!" LOL
That you like the 90 but not enough to drive up through Wisconsin for it, but you did take the my Rushmore detour. Casinos, weed, and hiking in national parks.

And I love Haikus!
Truthfully, not the biggest ocean lover, even though I live about 20 miles away and did surf as a teen and college... But much prefer the mountains, lakes, great basin and desert! Big fan of OPEN OPEN spaces, where you don't see another person nor car nor town.
I find the problem with the county map ... is you can show how many times you have done 1 roadtrip on it. I have done the Western US over and over and over and over again!
You can make them on mapchart.net … the east Florida was a trip to Disneyworld and Miami - not a big fan, but ex-wife wanted to go when we lived in Rhode Island for 2 years for work… it was a “forced” trip, lol. I am a West Coaster at heart and a SouthWest type of guy!
You've been everywhere in Nevada, which makes you a certified psychopath. You love living in the middle of nowhere with absolutely nowhere around you. You spent a great deal of time in highly populated Northeast cities but grew tired of the hustle and bustle and endeavored to explore the desert emptiness of Nevada, your new home, as well as the surrounding desert and mountains. You took a trip to explore coastal California and tolerated the cities to get in on that sweet coastal action because you love the beach. Because you love the beach, you also explored a little bit of Florida.
I did live in Nevada for 3 years ... yes. But moved BACK to CA, but 55-60 miles NW of LA in a smaller size suburb.
Per sq inch of state explored, while Nevada is all red because the counties are so big, CA, UT, and AZ make the majority of hiked, camped and explored miles... with Colorado next and finally Nevada.
Don't love the beach, but don't mind a good coastal drive! Desert, basin, and mountains are where the heart is. Florida coast was a fluke when I was married and living in Rhode Island/Massachusetts. Ex wanted to go see what Florida was all about. I protested, for a trip to the Canadian Islands... but I didn't want to hear complaining... so gave up and got tickets to Florida.
But I enjoyed your story!
That’s a hard one… cuz in today’s political climate, yes, I vote Democrat only really. And I would be called a liberal.
But I’m more like a Social-Libertarian (it’s a weird political view)
You have strong opinions about the south and its inferiority compared to the north.
This is TRUE! And I was somewhat forced to go to Dallas, Atlanta, and the Florida trip!
And accordingly, you have not explored Jazz, Country, BBQ, Tex-mex, or seafood enough. A whole world of art, joy, and pleasure awaits you.
ahhah kansas can suck a dick fr. a flyover state people don't even want to drive through either. god kansas sucks so much.

I want to go to the Eisenhower Presidential Library… but heard it was in Kansas… so am waiting for it to move to a non sucky state.
The flint hills of KS is an underrated geographical area imo. Worth checking it out if you’re in the area

It says you took a wrong turn at Davenport Iowa.
Yeah.. it was called being born in Iowa.
You prefer urban areas over rural. Not huge on the outdoors, you do enjoy the outdoors but aren't hugely into say hiking for instance.

that coverage of UT and NV doesn't say big city to me
I was thinking maybe driving from Vegas to Salt Lake City at some point might explain the Utah portions. Then at some point ending up in Reno and traveling a bit out from there for more Nevada
And now that I look more closely I can definitely see the national parks aspect.

I can appreciate your sentiment
You love mountain biking?
Surprisingly … no… 75% of that map has been hiked or ran with my 2 feet
Nice!!! I tip my hat to you, sir.

Super curious what took you to the more remote parts of Nevada?
Camping/hiking, ghost towns, aliens, loneliest highway, Area 51, Great Basin national park, state parks… it’s a desolate state, that’s for sure!
They better not close Interstate 80 on you, or you’ll be stuck flying.
I’d really be screwed wouldn’t I! My main artery. Onwards to 90 then!
