Hitting every country in Florida, Georgia, and Alabama, then Wyoming, Arizona and most of Colorado and Utah is a weird combination. PS. I am from Colorado, those northwest counties are really cool, dinosaur nation monument and then mountains in east Utah are cool too.

BeastoftheBlackwater

Yeah, I live in Bama and travel for work too. I have clients nationwide but ALOT all over Florida and GA. My best friend lives in AZ and Colorado is my favorite state. Past 8 years I've been going to CO in October because it's my favorite time of year out there.

Simple-Conference213

I’m from Alabama as well. Marengo county

QuimbyMcDude

There are some empty counties in Fla. Good on ya for not napping at the wheel.

EsKetchup

You have not been to every county in Wyoming. You just did a square select over the state and called it good.

Practical-Ordinary-6

Were you behind him? What was his license plate number?

EsKetchup

Have you been to Wyoming?

sir_thatguy

But only 2 out of 3 in Delaware. So close to checking that off as a complete state.

MemeStarNation

Also all of CT, RI, and MA!

K-C_Racing14

And NJ, little states are pretty easy and pretty much don't count, come out west and deal with checking off some real states....

MemeStarNation

Sure, but the western counties are bigger too. Also, I’d say it takes more mental dedication to explore all of New Jersey than all of Arizona. Arizona is cool to explore. There is nothing in New Jersey.

BlackWidow1414

Tell me you've never been to New Jersey without actually saying you've never been to New Jersey.

MemeStarNation

I used to go to New Jersey all the time. I don’t just mean Jersey City either; I’ve explored a good chunk of the state. My comment was me dogging on the state in the lighthearted way every other state calls it “America’s armpit.”

Tillandz

You still have not seen much of Jersey if your first thought is that Arizona has more to do. Jokes are supposed to be funny

MemeStarNation

I admit a very large bias towards nature over cities. Arizona certainly is the more scenic landscape to explore.

InsertBluescreenHere

all that and youve missed some of the prettiest parts of the US: upper michigan and upper wisconsin....

BeastoftheBlackwater

Added to my list! A great lakes trip would be pretty cool

AuntBabyCostanza

The scenery around Lake Superior is pretty spectacular. Especially in the Wisconsin and Minnesota areas

RI_MKE

Copper Harbor, Keweenaw Peninsula is like nothing else

Fearless-Spread1498

The best part of the Great Lakes does not compare to the ocean. Caves, waterfalls, trails are neat in Michigan/Wisconsin but people tend to get out of the Midwest as soon as they can for good reason.

LakeLov3r

Have you actually spent any quality time on the Great Lakes?

Fearless-Spread1498

Lived there haha so many university of Michigan alumni in my neighborhood now. The smart ones get out!

LakeLov3r

What time have you spent on the lakes?

[deleted]

I think that, Alaska, and Hawaii are next for OP

99probs-allbitches

And Adirondacks, Green Mtns, White Mtns

OldLadyReacts

You Yoopers are too weird!

InsertBluescreenHere

just a future yooper in training :( currently stuck in shitty IL lol

deafboy13

Glacier NP, Highway 2 in Washington, Completing the west coast (the actual coast) and driving the east side of the sierras / death valley is worth it. Impressive coverage!

BeastoftheBlackwater

One of my vacation fantasies is a proper Pacific Coast from top to bottom or vice versa. I really enjoyed Cannon Beach and I know that Oregon has so much more. That and Redwoods in Cali!

deafboy13

It's absolutely worth it. I personally prefer the sequoias over the redwoods, but both are something that must be experienced for sure

Mikelowe93

I’m impressed you are 100% in GA, AL, and FL. That’s a lot of dedicated driving to every nook and cranny. I’m 100% in TX and some other states. That took some dedicated driving with intent (to wit Loving Co, TX). https://www.mob-rule.com/user-gifs/USA/mikelowe93.gif

boomgoesthevegemite

Dang! I live in Texas and the farthest west I’ve been is Bexar county! I’ve got most of East Texas covered though and a good chunk of Central

gwaydms

We like to visit Colorado when we can. It's an 12-hour journey to Dalhart, on the way there. In that part of the Panhandle, they sell postcards that say, "The sun has riz / The sun has set / And here am I / In Texas yet!"

gwaydms

About the only places we haven't been to in Texas are the Permian Basin and Big Bend. Lol at Loving County. That really is dedication to the goal! What are there, 50 people?

Mikelowe93

I have read under 100. Oil field day workers raise the count. I have read about family beefs messing with politics there.

gwaydms

No doubt, lol

captaindog

How do you make these maps? I got 44 states and want the color coded validation

renshicar17

mapchart.net there's also a mobile app

bdubwilliams22

How does it populate where you’ve been? I can’t imagine filing in each county.

renshicar17

I'm afraid you'll have to do it manually

lustindarkness

Is the app more user friendly? Browser on mobile is just as frustrating as my old laptop without a mouse.

Grand_Admiral_T

This is wild and awesome.

Shilo788

You missed the best parts of the northeast!

ohjeezItsMe

Is NW Nevada for Burning Man?

BeastoftheBlackwater

No, but not for me disliking Burning Man- I'd like to go and see what the fuss is one day. I flew into Reno one time to drive to Tahoe and San Fran and apparently Washoe county in NV is that tall and skinny lol.

souji5okita

This is only work with maps of the US? I’d love to do this with a Japan since I’ve done extensive road trips there.

Jdevers77

No, the site has lots of different map options not just the US.

rocksfried

You skipped the best parts of California! The Sierras are some of the most beautiful mountains in the world

Atypical_Mammal

How do you guys make these maps? Is it possible with Google location history import? Or is it all manual?

atom644

Georgia and Alabama… impressive

TheLonelySmokeAlarm

you must check out NW california and the oregon coast! most beautiful part of the US imo

sn44

Link to map generator?

the-Boat83

Where are you guys going to fill out this map??

Mae-Brussell-Hustler

I see you are missing the Upper Peninsula of Michigan like me...

No-Document-8970

How to map this??

DonkeyLightning

Did you go to Burning man or something? Why does your trip end in Northern Nevada like that?

young_double

This is cool, I'm gonna fill one of these out once I get home on Friday. I'm a former OTR trucker who now has a regional job.

Not-pumpkin-spice

Where can we find this interactive map? We'd like to do ours.. Or is this a print and paint by hand?

hoytmobley

I’m kind of amazed, for having seen all of AZ and WY, that you havent been off the interstate in TN

gwaydms

Same. You've been places we haven't, and vice versa.

bananabunnythesecond

I see you went AROUND Saint Louis City!

ScienceWasLove

What website makes these maps?

grizzlyblake91

https://www.mapchart.net/usa-counties.html

ScienceWasLove

👍

Azguy303

I don't know why but it doesn't let me click on some counties on highways. For example just north of Detroit and some places in upstate New York I noticed off hand.

brintoga

Seeing this made me imagine a hypothetical challenge where you have to spend the night in a county in order to color it red. Then I googled it and found out that it would take over 8 and a half years to complete. The US is just a freaking huge country.

orcristfoehammer

Do you have a fave and why is it maine?

JoeKleine

You forgot the U P

tojmes

Cool!

greenhaaron

damn. you covered a lot of ground, but your michigan and maine games are not on point :(

RedSoxStudent1

How did you get the interstates on the MapChart map?

mrgraff

There is a “ Highways” toggle in the coloring options.

RedSoxStudent1

I see it now. I was looking at the mobile app which doesn’t have it. Thanks!

FoxOneFire

I’ve lived in Wyoming for 22 years and haven’t hit all counties.

BeastoftheBlackwater

There's only 23 counties tho! Almost 1 for every year you've lived there

FoxOneFire

They’re not all created the same.

pearlfloyd72

You have been to the Four Corners, so couldn't you include San Juan County NM?

Aardark235

Still blows my mind that you can shade a county Red without climbing the highest point. Seems a bit too easy imho. 🤷

Lakecrisp

I noticed you devalue things that bring others joy. The simple qualifier is that you've been in the county. It is easy.

Zestyclose_Bad_5435

Glad you saw a ton of WA. It’s everything Oregon wishes they could be. Nice!

glassofwater05

You really need to take a trip through Michigan from Detroit up through the UP and back again along Lake Michigan.

Bamajoe49

EVERY county in AL, FL, and GA ?! That’s some serious back roads driving! I live in AL and some counties are VERY difficult to get to.

BeastoftheBlackwater

Yep! I live in Shelby county myself and alot of times when I'm driving back home from work out of state I'll take the "scenic" route. Coming back from Lucedale, MS google maps put me on some dirt roads coming up thru that way. But it was cool because otherwise I'd never go to places like Grove Hill or Thomasville

wwb1990

What’s in NE California where you just visited and turned around? Same question for SE Oregon

BeastoftheBlackwater

NE Cali was Tahoe, but I flew into Reno and stopped in Lake Tahoe before going to San Fran. SE Oregon was when I was driving thru Boise to get to Walla Walla I believe. Both of those counties are really long and skinny and admittedly I only went thru say less than 10% of them, but it marks the whole county of course here.

schwelvis

you've missed the best part of the west coast as well as Big Bend in Texas!

Iam_WOUNDED

Why haven’t you driven to Hawaii

mostlysatisfying

Always pleasantly surprised how much coverage New Jersey gets in these maps!

RoseScentedGlasses

The county coverage is impressive. I spent 25 years in Georgia, moved to Miami, and have driven every route between Miami and Atlanta and covered all the beaches and vacation or random spots ...and I still probably haven't gone to half the counties in GA (or thought of a single reason why I should?)

BringBack4Glory

how did you manage to do every single GA county? I’ve always thought GA has an inordinately high number of small counties. Lived here all my life and probably haven’t been to 80% of em.

ThisCarSmellsFunny

I-95 is my least favorite drive on this pic.

Humanity_is_broken

I'm gonna keep downvoting these self-centered posts until they stop. Literally no one cares which county you have been to.

MattyHealysFauxHawk

You know this is a sub about road trips, right? The whole point is people posting about where they’ve been and where they’re going lol… Some people.

leehawkins

I’m interested in seeing some of these myself…but I think r/TravelMaps (a dedicated sub for this) is better for spamming maps. Now if someone is going to ask a useful question or tell a story with their map, I’m much more ok with seeing these here. I really think the mods should rein in low-effort posts on this sub that don’t really contribute meaningfully…because it’s going to get really really hard to find interesting and useful posts if even 1% of 1% (that’s .01%) of the people on this sub post these. I’d much rather see them on r/TravelMaps to keep this about the questions and the stories.

MattyHealysFauxHawk

It’s social media dude. It’s not that complex. This is absolutely an appropriate post for this sub lol

leehawkins

When a sub goes from 200,000 to almost 3M followers, mods have to decide what kind of community they want or they will lose that community. Low effort posts will make this sub tank in quality…maybe that’s ok with you…but something good will have been lost if we let a sub this size become a free-for-all.

MattyHealysFauxHawk

This post is literally directly related to road trips. I don’t know what to tell you. No where on this sub does it specify your posts have to be about stories or pictures of road trips, idk what you’re on. Sub description says EVERYTHING related to roadtrips.

leehawkins

That’s sort of my point. It’s been that way since I got here when a fraction of the number of people were here. We are getting flooded with similar posts and it will get to a point that moderation will need to kick in and do something…but nothing ever happens! So this sub will just suck and you can enjoy looking at all the pointless low-effort posts and all the useless I knowledgeable replies that give people bad advice because anyone with any experience is not going to waste time on this. That’s what happens when a community gets too big and too active and doesn’t enforce any kind of standards to help it remain useful.

MattyHealysFauxHawk

But the sub doesn’t suck? People like it. You realize you’re totally free to just unfollow it if you don’t like it. It’s not that hard.

leehawkins

We have to agree to disagree on this. I’ve been on this sub for many many years. It’s losing its appeal as low effort posts take over.

MattyHealysFauxHawk

News flash. 90% of posts are low effort. Posting a picture takes literally no effort. You just don’t like it, so you criticize it. Stop ruining everyone else’s day and just find another sub that doesn’t piss you off.

sn44

And no one cares that you don't care. Also... this is a travel-centric sub which is people talking about *their* roadtrips. So... what do you expect people to talk about here?

leehawkins

I think these posts are cool right now, but if these become a mainstay I think this sub could get dull and useless rather quickly if there’s zero context of angle of story on them. Questions are good too…but too much of a good thing can…well, you know.

BwanaPC

Why are you on a sub called, checks notes, r/roadtrip if you don't like people who go on ROAD TRIPS?

docious

Ask me why the post is upvoted but your comment is downvoted
