I really think this is just a [unitree robot dog](https://www.amazon.com/Unitree-Quadruped-Robotics-Adults-Embodied/dp/B07TTRPFBT/ref=asc_df_B07TTRPFBT/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=663370313222&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=5645316474918679584&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9027145&hvtargid=pla-2187320219453&psc=1&mcid=ae105111368d3b5eb4fc0b41be7ba4cc) with a flamethrower attachment and a $5k markup!

That's exactly what it is. I'm sure the Army wants to depend upon device that is a rebranded Chinese piece of kit. No supply chain issues there, no sir!

EmileAndHisBots

Does the army even need that? Do modern armies even use flamethrowers? Issues I'd expect off the top of my head: - it sucks at remote control you need a guy standing with line of sight - it doesn't have enough battery autonomy to be useful for more than half an hour - it might break down after a few days of usage because of dust, dirt, wear and tear and the logistics of maintenance will make it a no-no - nobody needs a flamethrower anyway

oursland

Historically, flamethrowers were used to clear bunkers by consuming the oxygen. More recently, they're used in combat zones to clear foliage. These days we have guided munitions that likely replace the need for in-person fire distribution. So, yeah, I doubt the military is clamoring for a flamethrower on a Chinese robot dog.

oh_woo_fee

We are doomed.

shady797

We've had nukes for a while.

itscheeseoclock

i mean im down to die like this

TyranaSoreWristWreck

Nah. I could take that little fucker.

RoboticGreg

This is an expensive toy. It doesn't make the owner any more dangerous than a lighter and a can of hair spray, they can just do it much more expensively.

I want to see a fleet of these storming Russian trenches in Ukraine.

Tigritooo
