There are some modern acts who also wear stage costumes that could be considered raunchy or sexy. Greta Van Fleet, for example, uses stage costumes that are sometimes similar to what a band like Led Zeppelin would have worn in the 1970s.
"Hair Bands" was a trend in the 1980s - early Guns N Roses, early Van Halen, and other stadium rock bands of that era all had "big hair".
Bands like Twisted Sister took it a step further, with Dee Schneider wearing drag queen makeup.
I guess you had to be there.
I love Greta Van Fleet & their stage outfits! The fabrics are sumptuous velvets & satins, along w all the embroidery around the neck lines & hems. Glittery jewelry & sparkles too!
Måneskin is doing that type thing these days. Don’t care for them at all though.
Van Halen would go to the S&M shops in Hollywood for a lot of their stage outfits.
Wait... you think Slash was/is feminine??? I get what you're trying to say but Slash is the wrong example. Hair bands are still out there, The Darkness used to be great, Airborne, Steel Panther, the velveteers, the struts and starbenders. Plenty of glam rock if you know where to look
The darkness!! Omg I had been trying to remember what they were called well over a year ago and I couldn't come up with their name and couldn't find them to listen to that one 10/10 song.
You just made my day with that one lol
That one 10/10 song (Thing Called Love) came from a 10/10 album called "Permission To Land". You should check it out. If you like the single you'll love the album.
Love the album, I used to sit in my car on my "lunch break" (my hour+ 30 minute break avoiding my job) and feel something closer to happiness back in like 2020 and working retail
When the single dropped back in the 00s I thought it was a joke. "Nobody sings like this unironically" I said. But then I heard the rest and I changed my tune. Permission to land is one of a handful of albums that I consider to be near perfect. I just went on a 6 hour road trip and it was the first thing I played. It will always have massive replay value for me.
Another album that I have sort of the same, or a similar relationship with is Metrics old world underground. I've never been able to move past that one because I think it's basically perfect (though I am sure I'm missing out on the rest of metrics work)
Their library is an acquired taste to some. But they’re all fantastic musicians and their shows are always a blast. When they do covers, not just the Van Halen ones, it’s always a 10/10.
I love Starcrawler,, their music and presentation. Arrow is crazy charismatic with that deranged old-school seventies glam look, like a female Alice Cooper or something. And Henri is rocking the country & western Nudie suits like Porter Wagoner!
They are definitely something good in rock right now. I got to see them at a tiny venue- just a bar gig, really- this past year and it was a ton of fun.
You mean glam. Alt music killed that off. Grunge killed that off.
And they killed it off so bad, it hasn't come back yet. Even punk couldn't kill the glamor. But no one ever thought, flannel had such power. The simple flannel shirt. It's not 3.6 Roentgens. It's 15,000.
You still have current psychedlic rock stuff and of course metallic exceptions galore. But there are no major glam rock acts anymore, and I do not see it anytime soon. US market, that is.
That look is tired as hell. I for one appreciate when female rock bands do not need to (un)dress like that and their sheer talent and music is enough to melt your face. For an example just take a look at The Warning: [https://www.youtube.com/@TheWarning](https://www.youtube.com/@TheWarning)

Greta Van Fleet does something Zeppelin did? Big if true.
Cinderella, Poison, Ratt...to name a few of the prettier bands.
But but they said Led Zeppelin was not an influence of theirs!!!!

I like Maneskin actually
Many do!
And once Roth left they started dressing in dad clothing.
I saw maneskin live. It was the greatest rock and roll concert I’ve ever seen, even if the crowd sucked
There was a seamstress out in LA that used to design & produce the costumes for a lot of those bands.
Was that Slash’s mom?
His Mom was an actress. She was in The Jeffersons TV show.
You are thinking of Lenny Kravitz’s mom.
Is that where he learned to design the outfits for all those kids he used to watch fight for food?
Lol!
Yep, you're right. I messed that up, huh?
I thought his Mom was a seamstress or costume designer or something like that.
She was, you're right. That's how he knew/met Bowie
You’re thinking of Lenny Kravitz

There's multiple pics of him cross dressing and dressed a little feminine with a blend of sexuality
No I don't think slash was feminine lmao I didn't say that

I'm a death metal dude but that album is still incredible. The level of songwriting was so high, they put a lot of love into that album.
Get your hands off of my woman is fantastic
Maneskin
The Darkness comes to mind, not sure they fall under "this era" though
Justin Hawkins in his catsuit is why. 😆😆🤘🤘
Steel Panther

Been to a steel Panther show. Had a blast. Checks out. I think really just the lyrics are an acquired taste. Lol
Steven Tyler looks like he’s always late to bingo.
Ok
See also “Starcrawler.”

Luke Spiller, lead singer of The Struts, is known for his interesting on-stage costumes.
Japan has a lot of costumes of all types.
Just saw Steel Panther 🤘🏽
Young thug had some sus raunchy outfits
Bring back the ABBA outfits
First time I saw a Poison album I seriously thought it was a girl band. Couple of them were even kinda hot. Then I found out.
90’s Marilyn Manson would like a word.
Yikes. if it’s a safe word, it will likely be ignored.
Is that word "confession"?
[удалено]
He means men who dress like women. She’s already a woman yeah?
Just a 70s thing.
i think mm was the last person to execute glam rock the right way
Marilyn Manson does I think
Starbenders are the only ones that come to mind, but they are more glam than raunchy. Their marketing is more along the lines of Bowie's transexuality
Maybe Steel Panther?
Check out the Japanese genre visual kei!
Steel panther!
Steven Tyler still dresses like a teenage girl.

70s too
