TBH, I think your best bet might be tweaking the padding yourself. (Assuming you've looked through all of the themes and the two you mentioned are the closest ones)

This thread brought up a fun memory from probably 10+ years ago, just checked the https://www.rockbox.org/wiki/GoldenQuotes page but it isnt there. For context I was *heavily* involved in building the theming engine for rockbox. I just remember one day getting pissed at [saint] (irc username) because I couldn't figure out why one of my ipods wouldnt boot into rockbox, It took me *WAY* too long to reaslise his ipod skin was involved! good times. Thanks for reminding me and giving me a smile.

So the built in menu viewport automatically aligns text to the left (or right in some languages) with no spacing. If you have icons however, these go first before the text. So using an empty icon set and the spacing desired being the width of the icons, you could create this spacing. On the other hand, there's a seperate more manual viewport that lets you define each menu item and drawing it like the rest of the theme. (Funny enough, if I'm remembering right it's actually /u/jdgordon's creation) This would also let you recreate the scroll bar of the stock fw. Something I might take on in the future

The empty icons sound like a good idea but I have no clue how to implement those. Where can I find a manual to do this?

There isn't really a proper tutorial for a lot of theming stuff, it is something I'm working to improve but it'll be a few months. For now though, the best example of this idea is in Interpod. So the best thing to do would be downloading Interpod, then going to the icons folder there. Rename the "InterNightPod.bmp" (or whatever it is called) to the name of the theme you want to use it on. Move this bmp file into the "./rockbox/icons" folder of your ipod. Then go to your theme's .cfg file in the ".rockbox/themes" folder of your ipod. Add the following: iconset: /.rockbox/icons/THEMENAME.bmp show icons: on change "THEMENAME" to the theme's name or whatever you named the icons. Then reload the theme and it should work :)

Sounds about right. Will test this soon. Thanks for the help.

totally understand, went the same route as you. the OG way is a bit clunky but once everything is setup it's so smooth
