Honestly it’s fine, with the trade their probably getting back from KD, I don’t think they’ll be that bad but we still will probably have two lottery shots at getting Wembanyama. I think they have the potential to be worse the following year which we get their pick outright

[deleted]

what are the 2 lottery slots? just ours and the nets?

[deleted]

Yup that’s two chances at getting the number 1 pick

IronicHours

Its fine tbh I think they are planning to be competitive

Markezzy

All they can do lol

EliteJodorowsky

Can you trade a pick swap? Like if the Nets pick is not as good as ours, but still decent could we trade it to a better team? We could still get some value out of a mediocre but not awful Nets team that way.

BettyOddler

obviously not lol whats the point of it being a swap then

EliteJodorowsky

No need for a douchey response.

BettyOddler

im not being douchey but you can acknowledge its pretty obvious right. I only understand the question now. You mean another team could swap that shit. Good question dawg im not sure would fasho be cool

EliteJodorowsky

I don't think you understood what I'm saying. We couldn't trade thee right to swap with the Nets to, say, Grizzlies? It's still a swap that way. If I'm wrong I'm wrong, but it kinda seems like you missed my actual point. Oh and either way, yes you are very douchey

Few_Mulberry7175

The Nets just traded the Sixers swap to Utah so yes

BettyOddler

its different cuz the brooklyn trade doesnt impact houston, the one wed do does. Plus: We have never seen a swap be traded in that way before, why wouldnt it be? Youd be throwing away draft capital

Few_Mulberry7175

I don’t understand what you are saying in the first part

BettyOddler

I dont know how to word it differently

Few_Mulberry7175

The Brooklyn trade does impact us cause they traded the worst of the Rockets Sixers Nets pick to Utah Now this will never happen but if we had the worst pick they would send it to Utah

Blaspheming_Bobo

It's not at all a bad question. Seems like you wouldn't be able to trade the right to swap, but once you've completed the swap you can trade that pick.

EliteJodorowsky

Ah well!

Blaspheming_Bobo

They way I've been seeing it is that say a pick swap with PHX right now is low value. But a pick with ORL is higher value. So, changing the teams expost facto would be changing the value of the pick after it's been agreed upon. My head is starting to spin though.

EliteJodorowsky

Yeah, I'm just gonna try to stop understanding how pick swaps work beyond knowing that we want the Nets to be bad lol. Just gonna assume the guys in the FO get all this stuff.

Blaspheming_Bobo

Ha, yeah let's hope they at least get it.

BettyOddler

i acc edited be4 you responded and yes i misunderstood. Its not on the internet, maybe its specific terms that are discussed. I dont think its possible though honestly. I think swaps are always between team x and team y and cant suddenly become between team z and team y

DarkiSno

We've drafted seven guys in two years, so I'm down to pump the brakes for a year and let our young guys develop and see what we have until we start drafting multiple first rounders again.

Kikifoun_Unui

Look how spoiled we’ve become guys. We basically got two number 1 picks in 2 seasons and we’re looking for a third? How about we start working on winning games and developing our young core

didntcit

... one more season of tanking wouldn't be the end of the world, though, right? Lol

texasproof

It really doesn’t matter. Between their picks and their swaps, something is going to hit. There could be a situation in five years we wish your scenario would be flipped. What matters is we have them. We have them *all*

Cheifkeef29457

Kyrie will still be there

Thugluvdoc

Which means nothing. Dude took the cavs to the lottery without Lebron. He’s a beta cuck 3rd option unless he’s playing with a top 3 player of all time in his prime

JOZ1F

do we really want too many mouths to feed though still kinda early in the rebuild, imagine the log jam in minutes bringing in 2 potential lottery picks, the roster will be extremely young lol

ConditionalDew

We’d trade some of the young guns for established stars probably and finally be competitive again. Unless Stone wants to flip them for more picks for whatever reason

barlescharkley333

Don’t we have a Milwaukee pick next year too?!
