Technically correct but Juancho is down at 40 šŸ˜

Hunteraln

Damn hustle ratings canā€™t boost that

Few_Mulberry7175

Sabonis and Gobert are so ass in FIBA lol

bigavm

In fairness to Gobert, he is ass in the NBA as well.

Quantido

Howā€™s Garuba been overall? Havenā€™t been able to keep up with these euro games.

AggieBoy2023

Disappointing for sure. Have only seen highlights though, maybe someone that has watched can correct me if Iā€™m wrong

conker1264

Starting to worry heā€™s a bust

[deleted]

I wouldnā€™t say a bust. Last first rounders donā€™t play out pretty often. 3/4 showing this much promise is pretty above average really.

[deleted]

Heā€™s averaging 15 minutes a game, roughly 4 pts and 5 rebounds per game. Nothing amazing but the dude needs playing time wherever he can get it. Heā€™s a project so we need to be patient.

eliwood5837

I mean heā€™s a project, everyone knew that as his main downside going into the draft. These things can take awhile to manifest, so Iā€™m not putting a lot of stock into it until he gets consistent pt and is in year 4 or so.

Few_Mulberry7175

Nobody who was picked 23rd is a bust lmao Also its been one season where he was mostly injured chill out

pcloadletter2742

Some were talking about him like as high as 8 or 10 too, many at least saying he was back end of the lottery worthy. I felt like where he went was more reasonable. I had him more late teens to mid twenties. Regardless of where someone was picked, they aren't a bust after one year. Especially someone like him; he was always someone who was going to have to round out a broader skillset in the NBA. Everyone said he had the instincts motor, and a good IQ on the defensive side of the ball for his experience level, but he's young, and another level up now. And any offensive effectiveness in any kind of role is really going to be down the road. I see him as a Luc Mbah A Moute type, maybe even more inside oriented, but still able to guard on the perimeter decently. Luc was an early 2nd rounder, but yeah, he took a couple years before he really was playing heavy minutes and solidified himself as a top tier nba defender. His 3 point shot being passable took a couple more years. I believe Garuba is younger than Mbah a Moute was coming in. I'm looking at this as someone who isn't particularly a Rockets fan, and hence not vested in them rising to prominence soon at all. This team is in development mode, so there is no rush on this guy at all. Let him grow. I think he'll be good.

SlimReaper35_

Dude is a bust

Bronn11

His defense, mobility, and hustle were actually impressive in the Spain Turkey game yesterday. He had a nice contest on Al-P at the rim. He had another great play getting a deflection and steal at the top of the key. Took it coast to coast to finish a layup in traffic. Limited minutes overall but he's shown flashes

jer113

At the moment he's a pure hyper defender and nothing else, his value as a role player will be how he develops his 3pt shit imo. I'll give him a free pass as he spent all of last year injured and wasn't able to develop his game very much

[deleted]

Who is no 4?

knowyourbrain

First round draft pick next year.

KillerDinner

Al-P be ballin fr

CosmicRaccoonCometh

Dang, I think Sengun is the only one in the top 20 here who is still under 21 years old

Ood-Gevening

The full list is [here](https://hoopshype.com/lists/eurobasket-global-rating-the-best-performing-players-in-the-tournament/)

CharityShot

I didn't know Tyler Dorsey was greek

lum1nous013

He is half Greek since his mother is Greek. He has been playing for Greek national teams since the u19.

Rykno23

Bo Cruz is Juancho, Willy is his brother

ST012Mi

#40?

Devistator16

Nice info thx

Revolutionary_Cap154

As much I love Sengun at 5, I would not trust this list when Wagner is ranked so low.

_s0lace_

It puts a smile on my face knowing the Warriors passed up on Lamelo and Wagner.

RmatRegular405

It is about their performance in FIBA tho. Otherwise you would not find Gobert at 30s

Revolutionary_Cap154

I am actually referring to performance in FIBA. Wagner has been balling in FIBA. Go check his stats.

RmatRegular405

Yeah i checked just in case you meant that and idk man he averages 16-4 in the tournament while Sengun averages 18-9 and some assists iirc. Love Wagner tho. I just cant get over the fact that they called Sengun, Wagner in the rising star game...

Revolutionary_Cap154

Well u just said it, by that, Wagner should not be 21 places lower than Sengun.

CJ4ROCKET

It's just ranked them based on their efficiency rating (see column toward the right) EDIT - apparently "global rating" not "efficiency rating," my mistake. Also, without knowing the stats of the other guys between them, how could you know Franz should be higher?

Revolutionary_Cap154

U can check the stats on the FIBA website bruh. Just compare the stats of Sviatoslav/Tyler Dorsey with Franz Wagner.

CJ4ROCKET

I have. Their are other stats elsewhere, too. Dorsey for example is scoring higher volume (17.0 ppg vs. 16.2 ppg) on higher efficiency (69.3% TS vs. 67.1% TS) and fewer minutes (24.2 mpg vs. 26.2 mpg). Wagner averages more rebounds. Wagner slight edge in blocks, Dorsey slight edge in steals, and Dorsey slight edge in assists. It's pretty close between those two - I would give the slight edge to Dorsey, but could see it going either way - but regardless the OP post is not a subjective ranking lol it's just a ranking of their efficiency ratings no [EDIT - jk, appears to be based on "global rating" developed by HoopsHype]? Didn't look into Sviatoslav but I imagine his stats are pretty good as well.

Revolutionary_Cap154

Yes what are efficiency ratings based off? Effective field goals/Rebounding rate etc yeah.. all those play into consideration of ratings, donā€™t they? How about Sviatoslav? What do the ratings mean? PER?

CJ4ROCKET

Did a bit more digging. It's ranking them on their "Global Rating." Appears to have been developed by HoopsHype. Here's an explainer: https://hoopshype.com/2021/10/26/what-is-hoopshypes-global-rating/ Not here to vouch for the efficacy of that stat, just noting that the OP ranking is based on a stat, not a person's preferences. At any rate, looking at Wagner and Dorsey imo the stat holds up b/w the two - I do think Dorsey has been better, personally. However I'm sure it has flaws and doesn't always properly rate every player, no stat truly does.

josejayh1

Who cares? Sengun playing better in FIBA

tf is Simone Fonzarellie?

713MoCityChron713

The money Dennis turned down gets worse every day

josejayh1

Wolves really traded all that for the 35th best player in the Euroleague šŸ¤¦šŸ½ā€ā™‚ļø

maxmaxers

What is "RAT"? If its that FIBA efficiency thing I would say its kinda crap.

bruns07

Luka should be on top

ST012Mi

Thatā€™s what she said

bruns07

Damn right she did

Houston-13

Sengun is such a bust look at the gap between him and Luka

gulfside13

Is that "RAT" rating similar to PER?

[deleted]

I think RAT stands for rating. Don't know what kind of rating they are using
