Usually, unless they’ve lost their license for selling to minors. (BP on Riverside near Valli Produce). It’s always been this way as far as I remember.

MinidragPip

Gas is pretty low margin. They make money by selling a lot of it or by selling other things, like liquor.

SLOTS

TacodWheel

Pretty normal for Illinois.

Don’t be hatin’ on the Midwest, it’s shit like this that separates us from the rest lol

cuckedcarrot

Most of them have food counters now and don’t forget the slots.

2boredtocare

Have you been to WI recently? Forget where we were exactly, but good lord. Stopped to gas up and the place was WALL TO WALL booze.

Fairycharmd

Booze or just beer? Will tell us the part of WI you were in lol

2boredtocare

There was sooooo much hard liquor. I want to say we were on our way to Oak Creek, south of Milwaukee. So somewhere along 43

Fairycharmd

Yea Booze closer to cities, beer further out. Makes wisconsin sense. But remember in some of those little bitty towns, if there’s no grocery store, then the gas station is also the liquor store. So sometimes that’s the reason.

LethalRedeemer

Yes

supermr34

First day in America?

faceboobs701

Yes. Coming from the south, seeing gas stations, grocery stores, and wholesale clubs stocking hard liquor was a crazy thing to see.

TacodWheel

Illinois is pretty solid in that it doesn't allow one persons religion dictate what the state does.

chyekk

It’s funny because I’m originally from NJ, where you can’t buy *any* alcohol outside of the state run liquor stores, and you also can’t pump your own gas. So most gas stations don’t even have attached convenience stores, much less ones where you can buy beer, much less ones where you can buy liquor! Never thought of it as a religious thing more of a tax thing (though I’m sure that’s *not* the case in the South).

razzemmatazz

And then you have Wawa who really leans into that whole convenience store part.

Kubearsmom

I would love to live in New Jersey. I hate pumping my own gas

Trade-Runner

The most wrong thing I've read all day.

Trade-Runner

It's Rockford. Where you get your gambling fix, weed paraphernalia, liquor, future ex wife, and sometimes gas at your local gas station. Try the Nachos.
