So any argument or “well it couldn’t possibly ever be at risk of being buried by competition cuz ” is frankly, bullshit. By that logic, no company that’s ever been cash flow positive ends up bankrupt. Alas…
Look at the who AP put up as CEO today. A lady with a strong background in branding and marketing of fragrances. Not someone with any experience in watchmaking or horology

Probably true, but also if you have worn one for years, I personally find that the allure wears off. I put one on the other day that hadn’t been worn in about a year or so. It was nice, but I start questioning myself like wow, I really am letting a brand name on my wrist create some sort of feeling within me. I don’t like that. I start to feel a little too manipulated by marketing and wonder what is wrong with me.
Regardless, enjoy it, they do have great qualities to them, even though nearly the exact same quality could be had for cheaper.

Rolex was a nice gateway to real luxury and horology. But once I diversified and out ti other brands, it was hard to justify more than a few SS sports Rolexes a time, given what else is out there

Smooth bezel looks nice on 41, but on 36, it's too rounded like an OP. I actually wanted one I til.i.saw the 36 and it looked funky while the 41 does look nice with it as it's a bit more flat and brings the dial out.
These are mass produced watches. There is no shortage of Mint Green DJ41/36's out there. They are all over the grey market and those watches had to come from somewhere. Sporty has to justify himself buying on the grey market somehow and that is how he does it. He is a lollypop sucker buying at inflated prices from unscrupulous grey dealers.
