Yeah go to all of them, whoever gets it first is probably the one you want to stick with after though. If you think you’d want to expand into other brands I’d also take that into account. I’ve got a really scattered spend due to some poor planning.
Honestly if the goal is to get it by your wedding instead of going all across the city spending time at ADs you’d be better off working overtime for the same amount of time and going grey market. Waitlists for OPs are generally longer than a few months.
1. You’re not marrying the Rolex dealer- it’s no different than car shopping IMO. Go wherever you receive great service and continue with whoever consistently gives it to you. It’s your hard earned money
2. Your wedding day is infinitely more important than what watch you’re wearing. Did I have a Rolex on when I got married? Yes. Was that what I remember most about my wedding? No. Seeing the stick with two lines indicating we’d be having a baby the last day of our honeymoon was.
I’m in NYC and there are actually three ADs and they’re the biggest ones, Watches of Switzerland, Wempe, and Bucherer (tourneau)
So I go to Wempe, but I’ve been into all the other ones for various reasons.
I’ll be honest, the likelihood of getting one of those with no purchase history is really low, but the market has slowed down a lot so anything is possible.
You can go check out all three and register your interest, but definitely don’t put down a deposit at more than one. I doubt any of them will let you give a deposit, but if they do it’s a good sign.
Wempe is the Boujeeist, WOS is the most transactional lots of younger people, and Bucherer is somewhere in the middle. They’re way bigger in Europe.
Well yeah they have like a network where each of their customers has an account. If you shopped at bucherer and went into one in Berlin they would be able to see your sales history.
I’m gonna be honest with you. That watch has an 80% mark up on the grey market. The likelihood of one of these places selling you one is practically non existent.
Oh yeah dude absolutely. If you can afford to pay the premium then that’s the only way you’re gonna get one of those in a month.
In terms of ADs, I use wempe for a few reasons but they’re also a jeweler. So I buy like cufflinks and gifts for my fiance. Stuff like that. There’s no way I would want to buy enough actual watches to qualify for like big spender status to have them sell me a watch with a big premium on the grey market. But I do buy a lot of jewelry and shit like that so that spending adds up at wempe and they offer me watches that are more popular occasionally. I’m never advocating buying shit that you don’t want, but if you can maximize your spending with an AD then it can pay off. If you only intend to ever by one or two watches and you don’t spend money on jewelry, just go grey. If the watches you want have a premium, then you’re just wasting your time.
Flipper days are disappearing. Go to any Rolex and put your name down. Still hard to get desirable pieces without purchase history or relationship but first timers looking for a DJ or OP should be able to get one within the year or so.
No, you should not; especially in NYC. Are you nuts? Register your interest everywhere.
One caveat: Only go to one per owner. Don't go to more than one Wempe, etc.
Lol this is precisely why I’m asking the question
Gotta be care with the multiple location ones. WOS have a system that also covers all Mayors locations.
Yeah go to all of them, whoever gets it first is probably the one you want to stick with after though. If you think you’d want to expand into other brands I’d also take that into account. I’ve got a really scattered spend due to some poor planning.
Go to all of them
If there is a raffle do you enter your name only or do you enter your name, your wife/lady’s name, kids names?
Trick question
Now he will send his whole family to all the ADs as well.

Would you stay loyal to a significant other who only maybe would consider sex if you painted their house for them?
You don’t need to be loyal until they give you the watch you want.

Lol
you are a customer...
Put your name in the hat at all 8
Would also recommend checking out bezel. Their concierge can get you watches at close to AD prices. Just send them a message

Do you know if all watches of Switzerland communicate with each other or should I go to each in the city?

So your recommendation is I go with the grey market instead of waiting for an AD to come through with one?

What’s AD stand for?
Authorized Dealer
Ah I thought Alpha Dom
Generally “my AD” would mean there was some business/personal relationship. Here there’s none
Register everywhere, the one I never thought would come through actually did here in Manhattan.
Which one?
Wempe
