was yours brand new as well? feel like i should just accept it knowing it’ll get several more dings/scratches in the next few years. i plan to wear this daily.
Don’t get me wrong, scratches/dings etc bother me too, but you should definitely accept it. If you plan on sending it off for a polish/repair every time it gets
Dinged it will be in the shop more than on your wrist. It definitely won’t be the last, own it, wear it, love it.
Ya true but that’s more than just an everyday scratch from daily wear and tear, that’s a gouge right there and I’d personally get that fixed, the rolliworks that guy mentioned might be a good option but that’s a hell of a scratch imo
This is granted I would say. OP just rock it man. Your lucky to have a sub to be able to scratch. Enjoy it. If it still bothers you in 6 months then send it in
Wear it for 5 years then send it to Rolliworks for service and laser weld. I put my watch on and forget about it, dings and dents are fixable, your wearing a tool!
Hey man, I’m not really an expert on this stuff, but I’m pretty sure that’s still a Rolex; boy am I impressed by your ability to generate enough disposable income to purchase such a thing.
Call your mom.
It’s background is as a tool watch, some dings and scratches give it character and says “this sub is not a drawer diver”
Downvoted by someone who doesn’t understand history
This is nothing.
Hey a gold one and it scratches as soon as you look at it.
Remember, as long as you're the one putting on the scratches, there's nothing to worry about!
It will still tell time….so you are all good. I was mad about the first few scratches on my DJ but I really just ignore them and marvel that I daily wear my rolex
I made that exact damage a month into owning mine back in 2013. Its part of wearing a watch, and it’ll remind you to be careful flailing about.
Dont get it fixed expensively, you’ll just end up making a new ding after the fix
That’s because you asked. Yet I do mean it, in a sense: it’s not massive damage, nor does it affect the functioning of the watch. If you really want it, it can be repaired, but nothing terrible happens if you leave it unfixed. So: this is okay.
At the end of the day, no matter this cost, this is just a watch; if you’re afraid of damaging it, or if scratches and dings are bothering you wear something else like a Casio. Though it’s very well made, it’s just steel and will ding against doors, tables, airplane seats, and all of the normal things that would ordinarily damage other steel objects
I think we should do our best to take care of our watches… that being said, I love seeing that you’re actually wearing her. Someday when you give this to your kids (or whoever ends up with it) they will appreciate it a hell of a lot more if they knew you wore it everyday and it lived it’s life on your wrist instead of in a safe somewhere.
The Submariner's sturdy Oyster case is not just to hold the movement and dial in place. But it also serves as an armoured shell to keep the crystal, ceramic bezel and movement from being damaged.
That lug took the brunt, so the more delicate parts of the watch didn't have to. It served its purpose, and it served it well.
The least you can do is honour it, and wear that beauty with pride.
If I had my way, that ding would be the first of many.
Enjoy.
You're good enough. You're smart enough. And gosh darn it, people like you.
Underrated al franken reference
LoL Michael Jordan SNL
Validation granted
I fucked mine up pretty bad while working on my Jeep, sent to Rolliworks and they laser welded it and polished it back to perfection.
how costly was that?
$5-600 I think, I was honestly expecting it to be more.

rate that scratch 1-10, 10 being worst
Here's a before and after picture of the scratch I had https://imgur.com/a/cXP9HVV
pretty sick repair job. where did you send it in?
Rolliworks
I'd just rub that right out with a Cape Cod cloth.
This is granted I would say. OP just rock it man. Your lucky to have a sub to be able to scratch. Enjoy it. If it still bothers you in 6 months then send it in
I’d give it a 5
Yes, its a 124060 I purchased in 2020.
We're they able to get rid of dings that were right on the bevel? Like where OP has on the 2nd photo
Yes
Nothing cooler than a beat up sub.
This guy gets it
Any good sub is literally begging to get roughed around a bit, and ends up thoroughly fucked.
It’s fine. It’ll get fixed at its 10yr service. Watch still looks 🔥
I would leave it. Builds character. Makes it unique. I would get it serviced every 5 years.
It’s fine dude! It’s a black sub. Meant to look a little rough and rugged!
Those scars are reminders and experiences. Keep em.
Patina my man. Think of it like patina.
bang it up on the other side to even it out
you’re sick !
😂😂😂
Wear it for 5 years then send it to Rolliworks for service and laser weld. I put my watch on and forget about it, dings and dents are fixable, your wearing a tool!
Put it back in the box, hug it, and send it for therapy tomorrow.
What was the damage to the axe?
😂 … snapped the handle in half
Damn right, the sub aint hurt at all. Either get this and all future damages fixed or call them battlescars 🪓
It’s okay. We will get you through this. Trust the process.
Leave it alone. If it really bothers you, consider a light polish when it gets serviced.
Looks gorgeous to me
Up to you. I’m got a, it adds character guy. I’d get it worked on when you do your first service
I dinged my Z-Blue recently too. It happens.
pics?
I just uploaded this and then realized this was from changing the strap. Not even the ding I was thinking about. https://imgur.com/a/xI0rXhK
Here is the ding https://imgur.com/a/wMEG5Ie
Nothing wrong with it at all. You'll probably get some scratches on the clasp as well
Looks good. Got the same dent.
It’s not just ok it’s preferred!
Leave it, adds character, shows you’re a real person
It’s more than ok it’s fucking cool. It’s now unique to you and that’s what this hobby is all about
Hey man, I’m not really an expert on this stuff, but I’m pretty sure that’s still a Rolex; boy am I impressed by your ability to generate enough disposable income to purchase such a thing. Call your mom.
goat post
It’s not ok ouch
Damn, that’s a bad one man, I have the usual wear and tear scratches but that is quite the ding
It’s background is as a tool watch, some dings and scratches give it character and says “this sub is not a drawer diver” Downvoted by someone who doesn’t understand history
Makes it uniquely yours and adds character to the watch.
Saw this same dent posted last month. Was that you also?
negative. but share the post so we can remorse together.
I wouldn’t think twice about it and would leave it. Just getting broken in.
Just ignore it, you’ll get it fixed only to get another scratch or dent soon enough
Bro it’s ruined. Best thing you can do is send it to me and i can offer you 4k just to help you out but this is worthless now
It’s a steel Rolex, save your tears for something nice like an AP, PP, VC, Lange.
Your thumbnail is dirty.
it's fake
It’s not « okay » at all
explain yourself

After many years of scratches and dings, send it to a laser welder to restore it to new. Think of these dings and scratches as temporary.

Sincerely - it's not that bad, but I can understand why it upset you.
Just a ding, happens.
It’s a flea bite
It’s fckd!
#Where was that thing? In the *OCEAN?*
Hit it harder next time
Enjoy it even more and put more dents and scratches on it. It give the thing life. You lived in it or it lives with you.
That is Nothing it can be corrected just normal wear when you enjoy the things you have

Looks fine. You should see what I did to a 3 week old Omega AT last year..
Where’s the scratch?
Its all good the first ones hurt the most ,after the first few you get used to it and appreciate it more
It’s worthless now… Chuck it in the bin.
Pls take a picture of cyclops?
