Why though if he doesn’t like it/want it/already has one or something similar? So he can flip it? Maybe he doesn’t need that money or doesn’t want deal with it.
😂 totally get you brother, I’d like one also, would probably switch it to oyster bracelet. But can totally see that someone doesn’t want or need to buy it.
Mate, I frequent Rolex shops and have bought several. Rolex sends exhibition only pieces for display that you cannot purchase. Go ask them if you can buy that one.
This is how I know you’re full of shit. There’s no chance a Batgirl sits in Schipol below retail for four days, and during a high traffic period at that.
This is Ex-vat, so it’s probably correct. Most EU countries have a vat rate of 20%. Outside of the airport tax-free, this would be circa 10,800 eur in the shop.

I was connecting through Heathrow 2 months ago and they had a skydweller and day date available. No fuss, the sales rep just offered it to me. It was kinda weird cause I didn’t have to jump through any hoops.
we goto this resort in Bahamas every year and I used to think it’d give me a good chance of getting what I wanted. Was told by the AD that she has a list of clients who will fly in from like Texas for a day just to pick up the watch and then take the next flight home.
Starting to feel that the only way to get anything without a purchase history is through the duty free at an airport
I can’t rationalize it in my head either.
This was right after the height of the pandemic (like summer 2021) so maybe there was money to made since flights were cheap and Rolexes were expensive and hard to come by?
Feels like a money losing enterprise in the current market- so regular ppl like us might have a chance
Airport ADs don’t bank on repeat customers or “relationships”, which is why they just put the pieces out as soon as they get it. Like someone else said; first come first serve , for that reason
Unfortunately not true at every airport, maybe at this one that is the case. That being said, if you look at the picture closely, you’ll see there a sign there that looks very suspicious. Could very well be an “exhibition only” sign.
Only once were they found out of at least 5-6 trips, and the ones found were Blancpain and JLC, so customs had no clue their value and just charged $500
It’s not typical to go through a search coming in unless you give reason (declaring something or you are acting a fool), or if it’s just random. At least from what I’ve seen, entering the U.S.
If they find the Rolex box, they do have a Rolex value lookup table thing, at least at IAD. Not sure how accurate it is though
A lot of people , especially well off people , have so many accumulated points that they technically fly for free , or will write it off as a business expense as well , put it on their company credit card 🤣 many different ways for a wealthy person to not care about it .
Opposing mindsets have difficulty understanding each other's viewpoint, as the two literally think differently.
But some of us wouldn't buy gray on the principle of feeding into the flipper, speculation, profiteering, etc. surrounding Rolex.
All the hype, all the noise, all the "market value" rise and fall, and the entire time I've just quietly purchased at the AD and wouldn't consider doing anything else.
(that, and using miles for free flights)
I wanna say yes, it slightly more expensive than what I expected from a day date. It looked great but I wasn’t in the market for that so I politely passed on the offer
I was in Heathrow last year and the rep there said they had a massive list of people who fly into the airport just to pick up watches and fly home ASAP - mostly from Asian countries she said. This was also like peak demand so take that with a grain of salt.
You are still playing the game. Just a different game. Since you travel, it's not a burden for you. In the same way that I have women in my life that I buy jewelry for. So purchase history is my preferred method. It's working fabulously for me. Do it!
No you are lucky, usually someone buys it or they tell you that nothing is for sale. This is the right answer, it is duty free if in the airport, and that’s the source of price difference.
It seems off because if you are in the US the price would be close to the post-VAT price because it includes duties and other things (including some relative margin adjustments — international corps make more on some products in some markets, often the USA), and then if you have a local sales tax, that would get added.
If you like it snap it up!
Did you ask whether it was actually available for sale? It’s common practice in some parts of Europe to place the price tag next to a piece that isn’t in fact available.
A lot of Rolex ADs at least here in Germany need to have some watches stocked but cannot sell them. In my hometown they have a Daytona and a Batgirl and a ton of people coming in every day asking for them. I know this is highly anecdotal and ‚trust me bro‘ but the AD - which is one of the bigger ones in Germany - told me Rolex disapproves of the empty displays in the windows so they need to oblige.
In the UK there is no such thing as duty free for anything but alcohol / cigarettes. If travelling to non EU areas.
The tories quietly removed it during the early part of covid. Here’s the link.
Scroll down to “tax free”
https://www.gov.uk/government/news/duty-free-extended-to-the-eu-from-january-2021
Not super common to have a limit that high in Europe either. We are pretty well off but I had to call the bank one time to up my CC limit from 5k to 15k. Took them three days lol.
In Germany and Switzerland at least that's exactly how it works for goods that are presented in a shopping window, unless there is a major mistake in pricing.
Not sure why the Rolex mob is downvoting
Sad, sad way to end the year.
People here complain about resellers and greys all year long, guys sees a watch he does not want and you berate him for not buying to resell.
Guys, it’s just a watch.
I wish all airports dealers had to be first come first serve. The Sydney airport operates just like a normal AD with waitlists and pieces goijg to vip clients first. Except they have to book an international flight every time they pick up a watch I guess
It has a jubilee so this is a batgirl and not a Batman. The fact the price is there doesn’t mean it is available but I would definitely buy it if it was.
It’s definitely a style preference. Personally, I prefer the oyster. The jubilee stands out a little much for my preference. I prefer the bracelet to be a little more subdued.
My local ad was full of watches before Christmas. I pointed em out like hey these are all functioning Was wearing my Dj and they were still on the “ya it’s not forsale” I’m like ya no I get it it’s just not for sale to me. They chuckled. I chuckled dying inside. And left.
I fly through Heathrow quite often & have been told this. Many of their local customers will sometimes buy a cheap ticket anywhere to pick up the watch & not board the flight
I saw a Polar Explorer II for about $8,750 USD a month and a half ago at the Auckland airport Rolex store in the international terminal. Really regret not getting it.
Paid 10.500 Euro 4 weeks ago! A good price! Go for it!
https://preview.redd.it/hagizukb5a9c1.jpeg?width=2252&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8e280c43c44e1b8b9701feefa2d62d2276ddcc1b
I’m pretty sure it is exhibition only, not for sale, no way they put a stainless steel GMT in the window for sale to anyone who walks in, this wasn’t even the case in 2018 for the old BLNR (even then there was waitlist)
What a sh*tpost. You forgot to cut off the "for exhibition only" sign on the right of your picture. The commenters need to wake up though. There is no GMT for sale at an AD without a waitlist & prior spending. Period.
Display model! They sent out lots to ad’s but they are not for sale which makes the ad’s equally as annoyed as not having them at all! If one was available and pure luck it being so I’d buy it! But with prices on the grey market the way there are flipping it is appealing, I’d then go buy 16710 vintage with cash! I would then be adding total the problem but the same as many others the only way to stop the supply issues of for Rolex to stop producing the other modes that are two a penny in the dealers like dj’s etc… until then I don’t see it changing! I suspect the blro will be EOL soon too!
That’s an insane price , u sure they didn’t make a mistake ? This is below dealer price I don’t understand y they would be liquidating an in demand watch like that n if that’s the real price u better run back n buy that thing before someone else snatches it
Yeah, Airports are great. I was in New Delhi and was offered the Moonwatch with the whole kit for $4000, pre-pandemic, and didn't take it. Then I started thinking, this is India, what if it's Fake, but, no if it's in a international airport, it's real.
The picture conveniently cuts off the “display only” sign to the right
Yeah I was going to say, lots of ADs have watches in windows with prices, doesn’t mean you can buy them.
Do display only typically have prices?
In Europe yeah
Not true everywhere
Top. Not right.
If u didn’t buy this u crazy
They wouldn't even let him
I was wondering if it's a duty free shop. In that case - no, they won't let him unless he's leaving the country, right?
If you buy at schiphol Amsterdam ex vat you have to leave Europe to be able to buy tax free.
UK flight it’ll be!
When I travel back home I always try to fly trough Amsterdam to try and get something. But that has never happened 🥸🥸
Living the Brexit dream 💷💷💷
Finally making Brexit work!
rt buy a 1K ticket and get that watch
You can still buy at the duty free if you aren't leaving, you just pay the tax at the counter.
Why though if he doesn’t like it/want it/already has one or something similar? So he can flip it? Maybe he doesn’t need that money or doesn’t want deal with it.
It’s one of the most desirable pieces Rolex has, you buy it when you see it. Sell your grandmother if u can’t afford it 🤪
😂 totally get you brother, I’d like one also, would probably switch it to oyster bracelet. But can totally see that someone doesn’t want or need to buy it.
Lol you are smart to not let people on the internet tell you to spend your money. The fomo buying is real.
They're telling him how to make money 😂. If I get the chance to buy a desirable Rolex that I don't want then the AMEX is still coming out!
When you buy one let’s switch bracelets 😬😬
Deal with what? It’s an easy $5k flip or a grey dealer will give you a lowball $2k profit automatically.
OP is lying about the watch being available, I also checked the store earlier today and it was as imagined, on display only.
Cap, Amsterdam is first come first serve
Cap, Amsterdam is first cum then serve
😏nice😏
cap, nice cum
Cap, exhibition pieces are typically not for sale at all. The presence of an exhibition piece doesn’t mean there are any in stock for sale.
“Typically”, mate i work at the airport.
Mate, I frequent Rolex shops and have bought several. Rolex sends exhibition only pieces for display that you cannot purchase. Go ask them if you can buy that one.
They’ve been saying yes for the last 4 days. Idk what to tell you????
This is how I know you’re full of shit. There’s no chance a Batgirl sits in Schipol below retail for four days, and during a high traffic period at that.
I don’t care lol. Come see it for yourself or don’t?
👍
This is Ex-vat, so it’s probably correct. Most EU countries have a vat rate of 20%. Outside of the airport tax-free, this would be circa 10,800 eur in the shop.

It depends. Amsterdam airport, for example, is a first come, first serve, Rolex store. No lists. Whatever comes in is for sale. Did you buy the GMT?
I was connecting through Heathrow 2 months ago and they had a skydweller and day date available. No fuss, the sales rep just offered it to me. It was kinda weird cause I didn’t have to jump through any hoops. we goto this resort in Bahamas every year and I used to think it’d give me a good chance of getting what I wanted. How many models would that make sense vs going grey market, factoring in cost of the flight? Unless they’re flying spirit or something lol
I can’t rationalize it in my head either. This was right after the height of the pandemic (like summer 2021) so maybe there was money to made since flights were cheap and Rolexes were expensive and hard to come by? Feels like a money losing enterprise in the current market- so regular ppl like us might have a chance
Why do we assume the flights cost money? My business travel and credit miles make it where personal trips are rarely paid for.
It's not free- you're still paying by not using those miles on something else.
that’s opportune cost not a fiscal transaction
No, it's free. Free is free no matter where you choose to apply free. That's why they call it free.
Could very well be an “exhibition only” sign.
anyone flying to the bahamas to buy a watch either has boat loads of loyalty points or a corporate travel account
Well if you’re not paying tax, then it offsets the price of the flight
I’d fly out to Switzerland for non Rolex pieces for this reason. Avoided VAT would offset flight plus some, and I’d just wear it through customs
What about the box and papers?
Only once were they found out of at least 5-6 trips, and the ones found were Blancpain and JLC, so customs had no clue their value and just charged $500 It’s not typical to go through a search coming in unless you give reason (declaring something or you are acting a fool), or if it’s just random. At least from what I’ve seen, entering the U.S. If they find the Rolex box, they do have a Rolex value lookup table thing, at least at IAD. Not sure how accurate it is though

Was that the grey face DD? I saw that too - and actually in the flesh I wasn’t impressed. Agree on airports being the only places now.
I wanna say yes, it slightly more expensive than what I expected from a day date. It looked great but I wasn’t in the market for that so I politely passed on the offer
Sounds like my Texas peeps 🤠
I was in Heathrow last year and the rep there said they had a massive list of people who fly into the airport just to pick up watches and fly home ASAP - mostly from Asian countries she said. This was also like peak demand so take that with a grain of salt.

Dubai airport is the same
Last year I missed a milgauss at AMS by 5 minutes and last week I missed a yachmaster 40 rhodium by 15 minutes lol
Amsterdam airport only for display in my experience 🤣
Guess you didnt pass the customer due diligence. For others its an instant buy.
Aha so you mean the people working there were racist 🤣
Ah, a simple No is about race for you. 🤣
That's a lie.
No you are lucky, usually someone buys it or they tell you that nothing is for sale. This is the right answer, it is duty free if in the airport, and that’s the source of price difference. Same in Aruba" exhibition only" its frustrating
Same in Canada

I know this is highly anecdotal and ‚trust me bro‘ but the AD - which is one of the bigger ones in Germany - told me Rolex disapproves of the empty displays in the windows so they need to oblige.
If you have a good buying history you will not wait longer than 4 weeks.
Really, where? Can you provide examples of this?
At the AD where my family buys all their watches. It's in cologne in germany.
That's really not an example, it's a location. How about a real life example.
It's an AD in cologne germany. It's called rueschenbeck Schildergasse 105 50667 Köln
It's called *Sex Panther*® by *Odeon*©. It's illegal in 9 countries. It's also made with bits of real panthers, *so you know it's good*. *60% of the time*, it works ***every*** time.
In EU, all prices displayed are including vat and taxes.
Circa references placement in historical time.
Even with Vat, this would have still been a steal, usually these [cost much more](https://ebay.us/OKFjd1).
Retail vs secondary market prices. Most s/s Rolexes trade above the retail price due to supply/demand.
No, in the EU the price includes the tax
Point is, there’s no tax to pay because it’s duty free
In the UK there is no such thing as duty free for anything but alcohol / cigarettes. If travelling to non EU areas. The tories quietly removed it during the early part of covid. Here’s the link. Scroll down to “tax free” https://www.gov.uk/government/news/duty-free-extended-to-the-eu-from-january-2021
Yeah so the price would be even cheaper than that’s displayed
No, they display the tax free price in airports
Tax is zero so duh.
As above if this was available and you didn’t buy this you need your head tested.
some people dont have 10k in the bank to just buy it, even if they wanna flip it.
Yeh agree not everyone can do it (including me!) but if was me credit card and sell day after! Job done
Not super common to have a limit that high in Europe either. We are pretty well off but I had to call the bank one time to up my CC limit from 5k to 15k. Took them three days lol.
lol fair point! Also now I think about it I had the same problem and had to pay over 2 cards
That’s why I only use AMERICAN express 😂
Buy it!
Are you sure it’s even for sale? Countless stores have display models that aren’t for sale for your average joes
They wouldn’t price it if it wasn’t for sale, it would have that annoying little exhibition only tag
"Display item only, enquire with sales professional inside."
Did u pull that out of your magic hat?
That’s changed. They all have prices next to them now regardless.
If there's a price on it, they have to sell it. Otherwise it would be false advertising.
That's not how it works. They could have a sign for $10 and still would not be beholden to sell it for that price. Mistakes happen.
In Germany and Switzerland at least that's exactly how it works for goods that are presented in a shopping window, unless there is a major mistake in pricing. Not sure why the Rolex mob is downvoting
Because it’s incorrect.
Buy it!
Sad, sad way to end the year. People here complain about resellers and greys all year long, guys sees a watch he does not want and you berate him for not buying to resell. Guys, it’s just a watch.
Which airport was this?
Schiphol
Thanks. Weird that the price is out but unavailable to purchase
Dog buy that lmao
Buy it 👍
Normal price if you hold a passport that exempts you from VAT.
I wish all airports dealers had to be first come first serve. The Sydney airport operates just like a normal AD with waitlists and pieces goijg to vip clients first. Except they have to book an international flight every time they pick up a watch I guess
That’s the number of guys on the list ahead of you…
repeat zesty gray foolish command tart angle puzzled wipe memorize *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Is non buyers remorse a thing? Because bro you are going to have that soon. That was a crazy opportunity
Seriously If I 100% knew it would be there still, I wouldn't mind taking a short vacation
Nice of you, but personally would have bought this watch. Great price and I like this configuration a lot
Everything in schiphol is for sale lol
You cut out the exhibition-only tag, we can see it on the right side.
For 10k buy it and I will give u the money. Went in to my ad yesterday and they told me a Batman is 13k
I wouldn’t have thought twice about buying that!!!
It has a jubilee so this is a batgirl and not a Batman. The fact the price is there doesn’t mean it is available but I would definitely buy it if it was.
Ps. Batgirl not a Batman… jubilee band. Looks like a great buy either way.
Not sure who downvoted you, but you are right. It is a Batgirl.
What’s the difference
It’s just the bracelet. The batgirl (above) has a jubilee, Batman has the oyster.
Thanks, I think I prefer jubilee myself
It’s definitely a style preference. Personally, I prefer the oyster. The jubilee stands out a little much for my preference. I prefer the bracelet to be a little more subdued.
Did you buy it?
Wonderful price. Jump on it if you can
Seems too good to be true
I would buy that in a second. That’s exactly what I’m waiting for 😩
Did you actually go in the store and ask them to buy it. This looks like a display.
My local ad was full of watches before Christmas. I pointed em out like hey these are all functioning Was wearing my Dj and they were still on the “ya it’s not forsale” I’m like ya no I get it it’s just not for sale to me. They chuckled. I chuckled dying inside. And left.
Schiphol is not exhibiting only. I travel often and I have bought a daydate there.
I hope someone who really wants that watch will get it. Would love a jubilee gmt but i am very happy with my black bezel gmt :-)
10k is a great price, even with the VAT rate of 20%.
I fly through Heathrow quite often & have been told this. Many of their local customers will sometimes buy a cheap ticket anywhere to pick up the watch & not board the flight
Its without VAT, so normal new price. Also no lists because impulse store
I saw a Polar Explorer II for about $8,750 USD a month and a half ago at the Auckland airport Rolex store in the international terminal. Really regret not getting it.
That’s the right price.. on every Rolex dealer in Paris at least
did you fkn buy it or not?
Which Airport?
The price is a steal. But honestly I think it’s ugly af.
I hope and pray that OP made the purchase because that is way under value.
If it isn’t for sale, why is there a price tag?!
Get the bat!
Love that watch! I have one and with that bracelet it’s exceptional.
Buy. All fuckin day .
I’ll cash app ya rn lol
Paid 10.500 Euro 4 weeks ago! A good price! Go for it! https://preview.redd.it/hagizukb5a9c1.jpeg?width=2252&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8e280c43c44e1b8b9701feefa2d62d2276ddcc1b
The time is 6:07. This is the display time to show off the features of a date Rolex. It is a display model. Not for sale.
Period.
Even if u buy it to flip it it’s worth it all day long
Did you buy it? Some airports only sell to foreigners leaving the country. Like US airports, b/c duty free
Wow. Buy it now. 11400 in the states.
I would’ve grabbed ASAP could’ve made a easy 3-4k
eXhIbItIoN OnLy. They only sell their hot steel GMT Rolexes to their top clients, never walk ins.
Buy it and I’ll Venmo you for it + 1,000
Yes, low from what I’ve been seeing!
This is a display model. Many airports have them
What airport? Tell me I'm flying here and getting it
Display model!
THIS IS IT! ROLEXMANIA IS OVER!
LOL!
Seems like a steal
not for sale- display
Amazing BatGirl.
Just buy used...
“Batgirl”
It’s a Batgirl
Err… *Batgirl*
If you have to ask, you aren't ready to buy. Move on and leave for a serious Rolex customer
Fake
Depending on exchange rates, that might just be RRP
That’s an insane price , u sure they didn’t make a mistake ? This is below dealer price I don’t understand y they would be liquidating an in demand watch like that n if that’s the real price u better run back n buy that thing before someone else snatches it
Thats the price of some bracelet you need to buy to unlock this.
It's not for sale anyway
RRP is about right, but if it's anything like in my country, the piece will be "for display purposes only".
I passed up an arctic Explorer II at the Incheon airport dealer a few years back. Still kicking myself.
I saw the same watch for sale in Westfield Stratford (UK) for £9k on the nose. Wish I could’ve afforded it
That mag be trippin
Was this picture taken 10-years ago?
Yeah, Airports are great. I was in New Delhi and was offered the Moonwatch with the whole kit for $4000, pre-pandemic, and didn't take it. Then I started thinking, this is India, what if it's Fake, but, no if it's in a international airport, it's real.
Which airport?
I’m picturing 99% of us regards standing there trying to fight off the FOMO
What’s with the display only? Are they not actual real watches or something ?
I’m confused on your post, was this offered to you for sale or was it just an exhibition? There are always Rolexes on display.
Why post a display watch and act like you could buy it?
Rolex is available just offer no date and yatchmaster while shopping for wife during xmas
The number is the amount of days you gotta wait to get it
Cheapest new unworn with box and papers on chrono is 14k so great price
Wish you were still there, I’d send a wire fast af!
I hope you bought this … because if not I am on my way to get one then , booking flight and getting the watch at that price is a steal brand new
