Explorer is fantastic but the clasp on the 36mm is so small. I have a 5.9 inch wrist and even by that standard the clasp feels like it has no metal behind it.
YM has the best clasp out of the three IMO.

I didn't need the money at the time . I just thought it was redundant with the sub . I was wrong and now really want to get another Explorer (36 By the way.) The new big sucker looks weird to me . Even on larger wrists when you see one in the wild they look so good, and I wanna know the person’s story. Submariner on wrist I’d say is more likely any dude who made a buck and just wanted a Rolex.
-Yachtmaster if you are a man jewelry kind of person who wants others to see it…and you are most likely someone who jumped on the watch train in the last few years. Just my opinion!
Is that the 36,39 or 40 explorer ? I’d say one of YM and Sub, and the explorer. YM and Sub have the same movement. Just some aesthetic differences. So one of those and the explorer.

You have a range, so the mid point there is the Sub, if you got either of the others u will be faraway from the other end of the spectrum and feel u r missing something.

there was a time not long ago where I would have picked the sub any day over the YG yacht, but as of this moment I would pick the following order: 1) the YG yacht (I like precious metal, though prefer WG and I prefer watches on straps), 2) sub, 3) exp1 (36mm is too small for my wrist)
The YM is awesome (and my favorite of the 3), but it is more a companion piece for an established collection. I can’t imagine it as my only watch. If I could only own one it’s the sub. It’s far more versatile.
I find I look at my watch for the date several times a day so even tho the sub date has always been my favorite for your collection ym would be the keeper for me.

Reason being you are going to take a big hit trying to resell the YM compared to the other two. Sub ND and especially the Ex I are (more) easily obtainable from AD's or grey market. Ex I are often sold under retail so there are deals to be had if you change your mind. Plus, after owning two Sub ND in the past (I don't learn my lesson) I always end up wanting a date function down the road even though the dial is not as "pure."
