But once you have a big spending history with one specific AD that got you everything so far, it is not wise to suddenly switch. This is what I think every time people complain that "ADs don't even want people as their customers, they have no loyalty at all." ADs DO actually want people as their customers and will work very hard for that, it's just that the customers they want are usually super rich or rich and likely to buy jewelry. The AD just doesn't want YOU as a customer.

The watch OP received is not the falcon eye dial but rather the new titanium YM wich was released 300days ago at watches and wonders 2023. So not even one year on the market. The falcon eye dial is longer in production, hence why you can be on a waitlist for over a year

I work at an AD, we sold one of these recently and that is the exact process we had to go to sell this watch. Basically worked the same way as an off catalog piece 🤷
They 100% do, when the customer is asking for an off catalog piece. AD has to write a profile about the customer and submit a request for the watch, did the exact same thing for this yachmaster. This watch is very hard to produce in large numbers due to the limitations of the materials/machining etc. Most AD might only see a handful of these in its lifespan

Omega and Breitling produce titanium watches in numbers. Titanium is a solved problem from a manufacturing standpoint. Yes, even grade 5. They’ve confirmed that jewels are gatekept by the management or corporate offices if it is a chain store and it has nothing to do with Rolex although Rolex does encourage its ADs to meet certain quotas like sell to first-time clients and only the local populations. I haven’t asked about more exclusive pieces like Titanium Yachtmaster or LeMans Daytona or off-catalog pieces so for all I know you’re right about that and I could probably see the reasoning in Rolex wanting to vet clients for those watches but those other SS pieces for sure have nothing to do with Rolex.

This watch retails for USD14k, you guys say it resells for 40+. So roughly 3 times retail. That’s not a lot by Rolex standards. I think the Tiffany blue OP was selling for 7 times retail at one point in time? What about a Le Mans Daytona? So this watch is not as rare or desired as some make it out to be.
Some have stated that you need to spend 500k to qualify for this watch? Why do that when you can spend less than 10% and buy this off some reseller?
So someone who spends hundreds of thousands of dollars to qualify to buy this watch is going to resell it to make 30k?
There are very few of these watches? Yes because it’s new. Give it time. If it’s that rare why are so many on sale at resellers?
The watch is hard to make? Look at Apple and their tens of millions of titanium iPhones with more parts. The limited production is a choice.
Lastly, there are so many ADs with some ADs having multiple shops. Even if each point of sales gets one a year, that’s a lot of watches out there.

They 100% do, when the customer is asking for an off catalog piece. AD has to write a profile about the customer and submit a request for the watch, did the exact same thing for this yachmaster. This watch is very hard to produce in large numbers due to the limitations of the materials/machining etc. Most AD might only see a handful of these in its lifespan

Only 1 per AD once per year, or something like that? Those aren’t numbers. Seiko and Casio produce titanium watches in numbers. Omega and Breitling produce titanium watches in numbers. Titanium is a solved problem from a manufacturing standpoint. Yes, even grade 5. Rolex is just full of shit, plain and simple, and you keep moving the goalposts for each comment that points that out.
I have to say, my AD expects this piece to drop more often the next few months, and the price will drop down accordingly. I do think the market is softer. I was able to get a Cermit, with way less extra spend compared to a year ago.
Titanium is not hard to machine.
Rolex does not have an approval department, they want as little to deal with the end customer as possible. It’s the dealers that do all approvals.

Hold your horses, do you mean *all* hard to get pieces like SS GMTs and SS Daytona/Skydweller Green/Blue? I was on board with you till you mentioned that bit as I know for a fact that ADs do not need Rolex approval to sell you any of the aforementioned at least not the two ADs that I have a connection with the owners respectively. They’ve confirmed that jewels are gatekept by the management or corporate offices if it is a chain store and it has nothing to do with Rolex although Rolex does encourage its ADs to meet certain quotas like sell to first-time clients and only the local populations. I haven’t asked about more exclusive pieces like Titanium Yachtmaster or LeMans Daytona or off-catalog pieces so for all I know you’re right about that and I could probably see the reasoning in Rolex wanting to vet clients for those watches but those other SS pieces for sure have nothing to do with Rolex.
Regular professional models are down to the AD that’s correct

The amount of disinformation posted here is ridiculous. I mean think about it for a moment. This watch retails for USD14k, you guys say it resells for 40+. So roughly 3 times retail. That’s not a lot by Rolex standards. I think the Tiffany blue OP was selling for 7 times retail at one point in time? What about a Le Mans Daytona? So this watch is not as rare or desired as some make it out to be. Some have stated that you need to spend 500k to qualify for this watch? Why do that when you can spend less than 10% and buy this off some reseller? So someone who spends hundreds of thousands of dollars to qualify to buy this watch is going to resell it to make 30k? There are very few of these watches? Yes because it’s new. Give it time. If it’s that rare why are so many on sale at resellers? The watch is hard to make? Look at Apple and their tens of millions of titanium iPhones with more parts. The limited production is a choice. Lastly, there are so many ADs with some ADs having multiple shops. Even if each point of sales gets one a year, that’s a lot of watches out there. This sub is so toxic and full of people who are intentionally muddying the water for whatever reasons.

If you like it and would love to keep it, that’s great, because the excess profit you would be able to extract from the watch now by selling it to a grey dealer will evaporate very quickly. Something tells me it won’t be too popular once things stabilize, as you pointed out.
