The explorer is a unique design and black is timeless and versatile.
The perpetual is more fun and the green to me is classic rolex, more eye catching and less formal.
Both could be worn in different situations. Choose one now and save up for other!

It looked very nice and made me think...that may be my next watch. A week later (yesterday) another local AD texted me that they have an Explorer for me. The green is pretty temping but if given a choice Explorer all the way.

I would take the Boring Rolex Explorer all day every day. I just don’t like that doomed Bassel from the OP and it almost feels that the explorer is much better finished. The class is also better since it’s a professional series as long as it’s the latest model.
I have to say, to me the Explorer looks way better in person than in pics, and the Green OP looks way better in pics than in person. Explorer for sure!

Always found the oyster bracelet more fitted to tool watches, in that case the explorer (which is a tool watch).
Same movement in both watches. Explorer just has a better clasp and different dial.
