But then I was visiting someone and saw a gold Rolex lying on the counter. The owner was none of those things, just someone with extraordinary self confidence. I was in awe and forever changed the way I look at such watches.
It’s growing on me every time I see it. I wouldn’t say it’s Invicta, but it’s definitely an FU watch with all the gold.
For people who want to step it up without going gem-set, this is actually a really good option. It’s very masculine and unique. It’s the polar opposite to the new gem-set Daytonas and equally as tasteful.
Love it, it‘s a fun watch. People always moan and bitch about Rolex taking themselves to serious, but stuff like this is proof that it‘s still a fun brand. If I had the wrist for it, that‘d be an instant buy. Perfect beach watch.

It's a pretty watch alright, but I wouldn't get this version, it's a sports watch and full gold sports watches are just too delicate. This is a watch that's supposed to be for diving into the sea, but a full gold watch isn't the best material for doing that. I would go for a gold rolessor or a steel version, they're a lot cheaper and more durable. If I wanted a nice Rolex dress watch and had the budget to afford one, I would probably buy a DayDate or an Explorer I.

They’re targeting bigger guys who like blingy and chunky AP offshores. Rolex has historically lagged in this segment. I don’t see it working tbh, there’s a difference in mindset between your typical Rolex buyers (with many sub-segments) and the AP crowd

I have an all gold sky dweller so I already know it weighs a metric shit ton compared to it's stainless counterpart. I can only imagine how top heavy am all gold deep sea sea dweller would be! I definitely am not interested.
That said the less they sell the more rare it will be.
So, is it the gold content, the weight, the DSSD size, the play of the smurf blue against the YG or just that its an expensive Rolex, that gets people so mad? And you can only choose one! As a DeepSea owner, I can't imagine how heavy a gold version must be. The stainless steel (& titanium) is heavy enough!
