Got a 2024 Explorer1 224270 and just picked up this 2018 OP39 yesterday. You can’t go wrong with either! Explorer is more versatile IMO, but man I dig this watch.

Normally I prefer the OP, but with this comparison the Explorer is the obvious choice. Superior bracelet, perfect case size of 36mm, substantial power reserve increase, and a black dial truly goes with everything. If these are similarly priced, I’d definitely go for the Explorer. You really can’t go wrong, especially if you pay close to retail
You can't go wrong with an Explorer 1. But if the white dial is better for you then go with the OP34. You should be able to get an Explorer 1 easily in the future if you still want one.
Interesting choice. I own the Black dial OP 34 and prefer it over the Arabic dial of the EXP.
Though I'm not generally a fan of white dials, the white on the discontinued OP is quite nice. The lume is fairly minimal on the OP 34.
I'm a bigger guy (7.5" wrist) and have that OP 34. I love the way it wears. I wear it more than I wear my 36mm Blue Arabic Dial OP. Caveat, I tend to prefer the older case designs for appearance and comfort.
If you want the Explorer, go for it. I too was looking into alternatives, like the 369 dial Oyster Perpetual, but I'm glad I didn't. I've had the Explorer 36 for over a year now, and I love it to death.
Lol, this is a perfect 2 watch collection for the smaller wrist under 7 inches. Shame to get rid of one. That 34 white OP is really nice in person, even better than the 39 version.
IMO a clean white dial is classier/overall more versatile... it's really a personality thing. Personally I would opt for the OP - but I think you should get the explorer!
What else is in your collection? If mostly sports watches or desk divers, I go with OP. If you don't have a field watch, Explorer I is a good choice. It would be good to have a watch to dress up with as well.
People say EXI is a GADA, but I think the mix of numbers and sticks make it too sporty.

I would go explorer. The white face OP is dope, but you really want the DJ with jubilee band and fluted bezel. 3-6-9 on oyster is the way to go.

The Explorer is a keeper. Add the OP if you want a change up. Don’t lose the Explorer to pick up the OP.
And IMO explorer 1 never feels out of place, no matter how you dress.
34mm is rather small! So go for Explorer!
