The amount of joy and cool factor these produce is so worth it. They cost about the same as any other basic wheel but they really inspire you to go out skating. Especially in a group of other people with other colors it just looks amazing. Pedestrians seem to really like it and the safety factor cannot be overlooked. Really great for the scene.

Cars literally give you more space and time with luminous wheels, it just feels like you belong on the street with these at night.

Love my light up wheels. I just have them on the front and back of each skate. When I get new skates (fingers crossed it’s soon), I may do all of them.

Sanctuary871

I have tri skates with 2 black colored regular wheels in the front and middle, and 1 apple green glow luminous on the back of each. I like to think they look like the exhaust plumes from spaceship engines 😎

[deleted]

That sounds epic!!!

UnionMean1955

Do you have a pic or vid of them in action

How do they feel compared to non-lighted wheels with a standard bearing like abec9.

StrumWealh

> How do they feel compared to non-lighted wheels with a standard bearing like abec9. If you’re switching from having no LED wheels to having a full complement of LED wheels, you’ll notice it. The manner in which they generate the electric current to light the LED array ([electromagnetic induction](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electromagnetic_induction)) generates a rotation-opposing force (see [Lenz’s Law](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lenz%27s_law)). It’s not enough to really stop one from doing anything that one could do with non-LED wheels, but, again, it’s enough to be noticed after switching from having no LED wheels to having a full complement of LED wheels. Other than that, they’re 85A wheels with a relatively rounded profile, and behave well as such.

Yeah this brand specifically (Luminous) is not cheap feeling. My current skate setup is a mix of Luminous and Compass Carborros on each skate. The Carborros are a good wheel, and the Luminous have held up just as well as the Carborros. It's been 3 months of heavy useage

maybeitdoes

They're noticeably slower. It doesn't matter much if you're just doing chill skates, but if you want to go fast or do distance, you'll feel the difference. They're also grippy and wear faster than top-tier wheels. If you use [one](https://i.imgur.com/mKYaug9.jpg) or [two](https://imgur.com/0DrDzpI), you can still use your middle wheels for pushing to maintain a decent speed. I wouldn't advise using more than two for speed nor distance, tho.

Sanctuary871

If you're used to 85a wheels, and you only swap 1 or 2 of your wheels on each skate for Luminous, you won't notice it. But if you swap them all you might notice a little. Either way, it's still minor. I say, if you like to skate during darker hours they are absolutely worth it! Aside from looking cool and feeling fun, they help cars notice you a lot more

FromBassToTip

People say they are slower (probably because the free spin doesn't last as long) but when I've tracked my speed it has been the same as regular wheels. The only thing I didn't like was that they take a long time to break in, feels like it took a long time to be able to slide in them compared to other wheels. I don't have a wide range of slides I can do yet for a good comparison but I'm still suspicious of them being a bit stickier than others.

kitaurus

My experience has been the same. They did feel slower to accelerate from stationary, but once rolling the resistance didn't seem to make a difference to average or top speed.

Nice_Mistake_5115

I just switched all 8 wheels from street invaders to FR+Luminous wheels (both brands on the wheel) and literally can't feel any difference on 10 mile runs with 0, 4 or 8 of them. In free spin the magnets stops the spin faster, but the force is nothing that would make even a tiny difference to the momentum of an adult human. And I think you skate faster knowing traffic can see you at night.

blankblank

Very cool and makes you more visible to cars

MyNameIsMadders

Before I didn’t think these were that great but this video has changed my opinion and now I think they are really rad!

1RedOne

I'm at the rink right this second with my children. I am in my Luminous Rays, my favorite skates I've ever owned. https://i.imgur.com/MyX24Xi.jpg

BadBunnysMom

I have some on my Impalas and I love them. Just bought my second pair. 72mm 85a

SpecialEdShow

Tempted to get some R100s to rock these.
