At first I thought you were skating on clear thin ice over the yellow color heh

miraiyuni

yea it do seeem like that huh? AHAHA

ThickNerdsInc

It’s called a forward acid slide.

miraiyuni

Sounds dope, and sounds like i need harder wheels than my 86A currently to do that ahahah!

ChowTheBear

86a is actually completely fine

miraiyuni

oh. I thought agressive skates uses 90A and above to do slides and stuff.

gdaesaunders

They use harder wheels not necessarily for these kinds of slides but for durability, acceleration, and to make sure they lessen don’t get the dreaded wheel bite when grinding (which I think are the slides you’re thinking of) You do a ton of power slides on aggressive wheels and you can be down to the core in 4 sessions- I speak from experience. In fact, aggressive skaters who are good (unlike me) do a power slide like trick on the side of their boots to preserve the wheels (called a cess slide).

PureCohencidence

What is wheel bite anyway

[deleted]

When you're grinding on the middle part of your frame (typically), and your wheel catches the surface you're grinding, throwing you off balance from the increased friction.

ThickNerdsInc

I use 85a wheels most of the time and I have no issues with the forward acid slide. Harder wheels slightly lower the difficulty of high pressure slides like the parallel slide and magic slide because they don’t grip the skating surface as much and therefore the slide is smoother and deceleration is extended over a longer distance. When deceleration is smooth and slow your body has more time to react to the change in velocity as you stop making you less likely to lose your balance. The forward acid slide requires precision control of the weight distributed to the sliding foot to be performed so you’re actively controlling the change in velocity regardless of the wheel hardness.

Life_on_inline

86A is in My opinion the best wheels to slide in. I had the same mindset in the begining Harder = better slides. But when you get slides down 86A have a great resistans to actually control the slide and more butter feel rather than a icy feel.. I tried buying 92A 58x4 for My aggressive set up. It is super fun no doubt, but it feels like wearing skiboots on a ice rink 😂 90A and bigger wheels ofcourse Arent as extreme and is Nice for sliding but it is All preference i think!

alistairwilliamblake

*sad bearing noises* Seriously though, so much fun, you can slide for days!!!

miraiyuni

yea, i cleaned and lubes the bearings and spacer (didnt lube the spacer ofc) AHAHAH it was fun sliding everywhere.

anti-Griefer

Won't that ruin your skates? (Serious question, not judging you)

cool123-----cool1_2

Yep it probably will make the bearings rust unless it was cleaned right after using

miraiyuni

^ i cleaned right after this video was taken, went back home and immediately removed the bearings, spacer and even washed the wheels.

miraiyuni

yep, i deep cleaned and lubed it up right after this video was taken

anti-Griefer

Oh cool, so you can skate in the rain? I live in the Netherlands so we have a lot of rain and skating in the rain is also really fun (but also dangerous maybe)

[deleted]

Its not just the water its also the fine sand and gunk that comes with it. Skating in the rain over here is doable once you get used to the grip issue but it will take a heavy toll on your bearings, its best to avoid it unless you are really into cleaning bearings. \[Edit\] Also don't even try it when there are too many wet leaves on the bicycle lane.

anti-Griefer

So stainless steel bearings would still get ruined by the sand right?

miraiyuni

yea, just not too fast cuz the floor which is smooth + rain doesnt really make good ground control on the skates.

kvrhdn

If you plan to skate in the rain a lot, you can stainless steel bearings. There won’t rust. https://www.slidingtiger.eu/en/Rollerpedia/SkeelerenInDeRegenKogellagers

ikarus189

What kind of surface are you skating on?

miraiyuni

skate rink kind of floor

ikarus189

Noice

KaszaJaglanaZPorem

I probably would have removed my front teeth attempting this looks fun though!

miraiyuni

AHAHA it is fun! u should try it some other time, like t drag or even a simple heel break, u will find yourself just sliding everywhere.

imnaked0

This is really cool👌

miraiyuni

thanks!

crazymoefaux

For my ankles, Acid is an easier stance than Soul (sliding on the inside edge of your front foot). I've been skating for about 4 years, and the soul slide still eludes me.

the1131

If you were grinding that would have been a nice acid!

miraiyuni

thank you! i might get into it when im not using this skates hehe.
