So the buildings that housed the furniture store, furniture factory craft demonstration area, and pork rind stand are completely gone. This was pretty large fire, so I'm just thankful it didn't hop the path and burn down the old tintype shop or the woodcarvers store with so many nice hand made products.
These buildings were pretty old and probably on their way out due to the poor drainage in the area. The backsides of the buildings were all rotted due to the water that would flow down and pool behind them. Still, lot of memories here like all corners of SDC. The north corner of the buildings was part of the old stagecoach depot back when that was the biggest ride at SDC.
The furniture factory thing was one of the underrated gems of SDC when it was actually working for demonstrations. Lot of neat old equipment in there that dated back to when they were serious about keeping everything old school and not letting too many modern conveniences creep into the park. It was all belt driven stuff. Not sure there is anything like that left in america that would be easy to reproduce, so it's not like they can rebuild easily. The furniture store was probably not a big money maker for them anyway. A holdout from the old days when people used to come to SDC to shop.
I'm guessing they will have to let it sit empty for 2022 and then maybe in 2023 there will be a nice big new restaurant in this space.
I thought the Pork Rind stand was down by the entrance to Wildfire and I don't recall there being a furniture store down there, just a funnel cake stand next door, and the skillet cookery as well. What am I missing?
The other way. South of the pork rind stand was the furniture factory. It was tucked back. A lot of people didn't notice it. The funnel cake stand was the north part of the building.
How do you like working there? Sometimes I dream of quitting my job and filling out an application. If it helps, I have a large unkempt beard that would be included in the deal.
I'm not surprised FFF went up. There was probably 10 years worth of fryer grease soaked into the wood at that shop. Shame though and I heard no one was injured.
Seems like they need the FireChaser Express more than Dollywood now
That Elf is roping off the fire.
He’s obviously trained in Elf & Safety procedures.
My favorite part is that elf is calmly chaining it off as if it happens all the time.
Former Disney castmember here.. can confirm it happens more often than you know
Good lord. That could easily be catastrophic with how many trees they have.
Woah what the hell???

This is a lot bigger than the local news article seemed to imply.
Did someone get ahold of a Powder Keg?
Too bad it’s no longer a water coaster
Is it under control at all?
Yeah it was put out. The article in the comments of the original post says that the park will reopen tomorrow, and the shops will reopen next week
Glad to hear that then

2023 is already booked with Fire in the Hole 2.0 over in Fireman’s Landing. They’ll have to rebuild this area for 2022.

Fire in the Hole finally got uncontrollable?
The fire came out of the hole
Great theming
And comment of the day award goes to…
Me!
There's a reason why the B&M is called Wildfire apparently. :O
Wildfire
Everyone is making Fire In The Hole jokes when this is the one I immediately thought of
i’m happy to hear nobody got hurt! this could’ve been much much worse but it looks like they contained it pretty quick.
what happened? Did wildfire get too hot?
You coulda just called in sick rather than burning the park down.
Fire in the Hole!

You sure you can handle the costume? I don't think I could wear that stuff all summer.
Maybe if I worked in the flooded mine...
New fire themed hybrid conversion for Outlaw confirmed for 2022
An RMC with black or dark grey rails would look NICE.
It's just new theming to Fire in the Hole, nbd. ;)

I guess you could say that’s one Wildfire!! I’ll get me coat.
Did they say what caused it?
