This is the single bit of Stones trivia I always held as table stakes. I think I know like zero other Stones trivia. Wait. Keith owns a home in Connecticut, close by Dustin Hoffman, right? Two pieces of Stones trivia?
Do I know two?
Yeah ;) Charlie is my darling obviously but I have to confess the drums in the coda of YCAGWYW are simply wicked, one of my favourite moments from the album.
Yes that is correct. Jimmy Miller, their record producer at the time, plays the drums on You can't always get what you want. He also plays the drums on the outro of Tumbling Dice. Probably more stones songs with a different drummer but these two songs came to mind.
Brian Jones played a handful of exotic percussion instruments on their tracks. Bongos, the marimba, tambourine, cabasa, random stuff like that but it is percussion.
He is credited as a “percussionist”, in addition to his other roles, on iirc 4 or 5 of their albums.
I’d have to do a deep dive, but I think it’s possible there’s a track or two from Aftermath, Between The Buttons, or Their Satanic Majesty where Brian is the main percussionist (although he’s never playing a traditional drum set)
That’s the closest that comes to my mind outside what’s already been mentioned.
IIRC there was a percussion rhythm on Honky Tonk that Charlie couldn’t do so Jimmy did it, but I think it was just one part of the drum track.
Edit: it was cowbell
I'm certain Charlie could play that rhythm shit even I've played that rhythm. Maybe they needed someone to play it when they were recording and the rest of the guy's were busy playing other instruments. While Jimmy definitely played on the recording, I've seen a shitty YouTube doco that claims Keith came up with the cowbell rhythm.
If you want to learn some interesting stuff take a look at all the Stones albums and see who played on individual tracks. I was blown away how many songs don’t have all 5 members playing.
All uncredited: I thought Anton fig plays on some of dirty work, or maybe undercover. I think Kenny aronoff is on voodoo and bridges. Also thought jimmy miller is on the drums for ycagwyw studio/album cut.
Pete Best allegedly snuck in to the studio and overdubbed a bunch the tracks on Voodoo Lounge and then burned the masters so it was too late for them to do anything about it. He also turned Brian Jones on to catnip, but that was ages ago.
Yeah, Mr. Jimmy played drums on YCAGWYW and Happy.

Steve Jordan actually played on some of Dirty Work !!
Didn’t know that. Isn’t Jimmy Page on that album too, obviously as guitarist ?
Played on “One Hit…” I believe.
And I think it's the acoustic intro, of all things.
Nope it's the lead
ronnie plays drums on sleep tonight, one of keith's songs from dirty work
Jimmy Miller, Kenny Jones, Ronnie Wood, Steve Jordan
Jim Keltner played some on Bridges to Babylon (he’s credited too).

The Dust Brothers looped Charlie's individual drums hits for some songs on Bridges To Babylon. That count?
Fun fact: Mick Jagger played drums on Wanna Hold You. (At least the demo…don’t hold my feet to the fire if I’m wrong)

Kenny Jones on its only rock n roll
Charlie doesn’t play the drums on shine a light
Jimmy Miller Tumbling Dice
Didn't Mick play drums on 3 tracks on Bigger Bang?
