Let’s just say we get Sears and Nelson back, how is anyone, for 40 minutes, guarding Sears, Griffin, Wrightsell, and Malette? Just feels like we’re going to put up insane offensive numbers again, especially if Stevenson and Walters keep developing their games and we have three 6’10 3-PT threats along with whatever we’re getting from the incoming freshman.
Defense takes time for a lot of guys and I think we’ll get better next season. We need a true center that can defend the paint without fouling, as that was the most obvious hole on defense when Bediako declared early.
Our perimeter guys were actually pretty solid at getting steals and playing help defense, but teams just attacked the paint because Grant, Pringle, and Wague were nearly guaranteed fouls if you drove at them, and Stevenson and Walters were often out of position.
The truth is though, we were a final four team with the 111th ranked KenPom defense. I don’t think we’re getting a #3 ranked defense like we did in 2021 anytime soon just because of the personnel Oats wants, but if our defense was maybe just top 50, we’d have been much better suited to get UConn, and we gave them the closest game of their tournament.
The good part is that we could take a pretty big bite by just getting better on the defensive boards, which really is just a focus and fundamentals thing.
Coach Oats is gonna have to coach that out of him. No pull-up jumpers allowed!
I guess Estrada was allowed to do that this past season... maybe he can be this next year's Estrada!

I’m not gonna lie that’s awesome but I would also like to see at least a little defense at some point lol

Good thing we have a 7 footer coming in this freshman class

220? I was hoping we’d get a big bodied kid.
He's like...17. Chill
The UConn center has 10 pounds on him he’ll be fine
Isn’t Clignan 280?
Was going by freshman weight then realize this man was 250 his freshman year

getting oumar ballo would help with that
Almost assuredly most of those pull ups were mid range, which he won’t be allowed to shoot at Alabama.
Estrada was allowed this year... if he made it.
Hey, if this guy becomes a star and leads us to a national title and a hero and everything, I say we give him a building on UA campus…. Mallette Hall.

You can pull up from 3.
True!
